Guan Eng, the untouchable

I read this article

A less blunt tool for Lim Guan Eng? Really, Mr Mukherjee?

by Malay Mail managing editor Leslie Lau and can't help but to say

"Hey, I got a lot of that kind of whacking too Mr Mukherjee."

I got them in the comments section of these recent posts

Guan Eng is probably Dr Mahathir's ploy

Guan Eng got dad and new mentor

and others.

I'm quite sure I'm going to get some more for this post.

Heck, I even begin to believe that there are people working on shifts, 24 hours a day, just to be on the lookout for anyone who dares to say even the slightest bad thing about Guan Eng.

Yup, you say anything not so flattering about Guan Eng these days and you would kena whacked kaw kaw by....errr innocent bystanders.....you will kena extra whacking if you say they are from DAP.

Really, Guan Eng is now untouchable.

The guy can do no wrong and he can throw all the tantrum that he wants because he's a saint and saviour of all Malaysians.

Well, after kena whacked for criticising him, that's what I thought of him.

Really, no one is supposed to criticise him, okay.

Anyway, I do wonder if Leslie Lau wrote his article after he got a phone call early in the morning because someone was not happy that Malay Mail published Mukherjee's article.

Mukherjee's article was also published by Bloomberg;

Malaysia Needs More Tactful Handling of 1MDB Mess

Maybe Bloomberg's managing editor too will write an article later to whack Mukherjee for trying to mess with Guan Eng.

Maybe that editor too got an early morning call complaining about Bloomberg not being fair to the newly minted minister of finance and asked to write a counter article against Mukherjee like Malay Mail did.

Hmmm....maybe.

Well, about these probable early morning phone calls, they reminded me of the story behind this article from 10 years ago;

What's your beef, Guan Eng?

Yes, I like this quote from the article,

"Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far."

    Boring, boring, boring.

Write about the beach, Annie, at least that has some interest vs. this repetitive crap.

Better still, get your friend JMD to blog again.

We need his wisdom for the future of Malaysia.

  2. Annie,

//Really, no one is supposed to criticise him, okay.//

Not sure why you kena whacked for criticizing LGE.

In the past, I have called Lim Guan Eng a moron and not a statesman and nobody seems to mind.

Maybe that's because I also acknowledge he is an administrator par excellence - he really knows how to manage the "business".

In a bit over ten years, LGE and his team have made Penang into one of the more prosperous states in Malaysia.

And this was despite the previous BN government seemingly trying its hardest to make Penang fail, like choking off shipping traffic, refusing to help in expanding the airport, etc.

OK, maybe it is better to have a politician who can say nice things, clever things, funny things, but is clueless as to how to improve the economy - at least one has a good time on the way to economic Hell, right?

I mean, remember all the lovely things Najib used to say about 1MDB and our national debt?

He is still saying them now and damn it, I have to admit it, his statements sound so nice even if not believable.

Making nice lovely statements, aka motherhood statements, was a hallmark of the previous BN administration.

    https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/motherhood_statement

The Malaysian phenomena was such that it spawned a brand-new acronym - NATO : No Action Talk Only.

The way I see it, if LGE can do the same for Malaysia as what he did for Penang, then yes, Lim Guan Eng will be untouchable :)

    1. I keep hearing about how wonderful is Penang but for me the most wonderful place in the country is in Pahang.

    2. Annie,

Orang Johor pun ok. Di Johor and Bangsa Johor.

Bangsa Johor adalah satu jenis bangsa yang tak diskriminasi orang lain.

Dekat Johor, sampai pembangkang pun diberikan duit peruntukkan. Begitu hebatnya orang Johor.

Cubalah Annie try duduk di Johor.

Tambahan lagi ada kerajaan baru Pakatan Harapan, air dapat free. GST pun tak payah bayar. PTPTN pun tak payah bayar kalau gaji tak sampai RM4000.

      Ok lah Annie.

Guan Eng’s father, Kit Siang and Gobind’s late father, Karpal were not spared. But today, all of them are in the same team, sitting side by side working for the best of the country. God always have the best plan.

  6. It is OK to criticize him, but at least, make it one that is valid and substantial.

Silly superficial "criticism" like him being "tactless, too direct and straightforward, too "honest", doesn't care about stock market, etc." makes no / limited sense lar.

Besides, your concentration and focus only on LGE (together with other pro BN fellas and fellas with former roots in BN) seems to smell like a strategic attack to me. Really need to give up this racial game / mentality in order for Malaysia to progress in a globalized world lar.

    2. Nothing of note would have struck me if it was just one or two sporadic attacks on him.

But now it is the previous administration coming out to attack him, certain international media (that indirectly supported or "endorsed" the previous administration) coming out to attack him, certain folks in the new Government with roots to the new Opposition coming out to attack him, and many pro-BN folks coming out to attack him... over some shallow, silly and senseless reasons... smells concerted and targeted to me.

Some old mentality fellows don't like a Malaysian Chinese at the helm of the MOF; some old mentality UMNO folks think that the best way for them to regain power is to take a rip at the race factor of the Cabinet / Pakatan Harapan leaders.

Give better and more substantial reasons for your attacks on LGE, then at least it will be more belieavable lar.

  11. Why fear LGE?? Because he korek all the things? When Tun Dr M hear direct from Finance Minister LGE the real figures, he also feel very sad. We have fox Najib guarding the hens, and been signing away national treasure. Now all the 1 MBD billions dunno go where already, keep paying interests. Najib should be thrown into jail immediately.

Signed ECRL, loan from CHina, banking also use Chinese bank, contractors, workers all from China and not even get tax with GST. So, Malaysians just watch only and pay....and finally pay debt 92 billions to the Chinese companies. You think Terengganu people can afford train tickets? How long to collect back and clear 92 Billions debt?

I read articles, lorry driver not showing passport in immigration get fined RM1,000, Musa Aman disappear and record not even in imigresen like Altantuya....not a single fine he need to pay. Different law for different people? rakyat need to pay fine, Musa Aman gets away?

Jamal Yunos also can stay at home and depend on his mood whether he need to show up in the police station to record his statement? Where is the law? What is Muhyiddin doing? Why all these people get special treatment? Untouchables?

You wonder how did they earn their wealth merely being local leaders. No wonder Umno members would kill each other to be KBUs. It’s a ticket to riches. Even police and MACC didn’t dare to touch them. In certain cases, even DOs kow tow and took orders from them.

When MO1 still in power, he took a really good care to these KBUs. Attended to to all their needs. That’s way I’m not suprised of Jamal’s antics all this while. He got a big licence to fool around.

Everyone one of your postings recently does not reflect that you intended to be neutral. Your writings from the very beginning is reflective of your frustrations of UMNO losing the general elections. There is nothing that you can do anymore except receive the rakyats verdict. Stop the crap and go with the flow. 18. Reason Annie attack LGE very simple because that little guy is watching the finance account and know all Najib dirty tricks. That's why they fear LGE. So, the directive ordered by Najib bloggers are to attack LGE. Must tutup accounting books, don't let more people see Najib steal money tactics. It's time to throw Najib into prison.
SRC International cannot service loan, then just rampas that money from Najib collected to pay back the debt and sell Rosmah birkin bags collection. That will cover some of the loan repayment.

  20. Annie,

Saya amat sedih melihat keadaan orang melayu berpecah.

You have to have some kind of smart diplomacy being a Minister of Finance. Look when Tun Daim says something, the market will react positively.

Instead of learning from the best that are those in the council of elders. He seeks help from his fellow dapsters Tony Pua & Ong Ming Kian.

Trust me, it's useless to have a Cambridge or Oxford degree if you are lack wisdom. We had one Oxford grad from Pak Lah's days till now. He even supported the penyamun or he is one too ?

//I keep hearing about how wonderful is Penang but for me the most wonderful place in the country is in Pahang//

Some parts of Penang are really pretty, especially around Balik Pulau.

I never knew Penang was separated by a ridge until I went there a couple of years ago - I was a science student, OK? So, my geography is lousy.

    Pahang?

Hm, dunno much about Pahang but then I dunno much about a lot of places in Malaysia.

I tend to just stay in my kampung when I am there.

I am not much better where I work either - I don't go out much, I just go to work and go home.

One day, I will try to travel around Malaysia and check out the sights.
