Kit Siang's only trump card in Gelang Patah (updated)

UPDATES

At the moment I'm writing these updates, indications pointed that outgoing Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman is not likely to be fielded in Gelang Patah.

Whatever it is, please wait for the BN parliamentary candidate list which will be announced later today.

I could be wrong. The situation is currently very fluid in Johor.

ORIGINAL POSTING

It is without doubt that one of the main aspects of Malaysian life to be affected by the outcome of the coming general election is the Malaysian multi-racial society's ability to share this country.

Malaysians, regardless of race have been sharing this country for more than half a century and at the same time able to preserve their ethnic identity, a privilege not accorded to all in other countries.

For instance, Malaysia is the only country outside China and Taiwan which has a Chinese education system catering mostly for its Chinese populace.

As campaigning grows intense for the past week, DAP are pressing even harder on their Chinese chauvinism platform which they hope will galvanize the community to support them.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad fittingly summed up this DAP's tactic in his posting GELANG PATAH.

Kit Siang has responded to Mahathir's posting with a threat to sue him.

Now as speculations swirls that BN chairman DS Najib Razak is planning to fields outgoing Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman to face Kit Siang, the DAP has responded in Gelang Patah by intensifying its racial rhetorics.

Kit Siang who is going around on the ceramah circuit almost every other night in Gelang Patah over the past weeks has been trying to woo the Chinese crowd by using the phrase "kiasu kiasi" (afraid to lose, afraid to die) in his speeches to describe BN.

I believe that if it is true that Najib wants to field Ghani against Kit Siang in Gelang Patah which voters are 53 per cent Chinese, than Gelang Patah will be the true test bed for the Prime Minister's concept of 1Malaysia.

If Ghani wins, then it will be a testimony that the Chinese as a community rejects the chauvinism propagated by DAP.

They will send a clear message that the Chinese community is willing to accept a good Malay leader to represent them instead of a Chinese leader, no matter how senior he is, who is banking solely on their support because he is a Chinese.

Ghani has serves Johor as a Menteri Besar for 18 years and every honest Johoreans irrespective of race knows that the State has been progressing well under his leadership.

Ghani's policy of distributing development equally between the urban areas largely populated by the Chinese and rural areas dominated by Malays has provided a stabilizing effect which enable Johor to progress and drawing huge investments to economic centers such as Iskandar Malaysia.

Gelang Patah which is part of Iskandar Malaysia benefitted immensely under Ghani's leadership and the Chinese community there knows that this is true.

They also know Ghani well because the outgoing MB has always been in touch with what is happening in their constituency. Ballot box areas in Gelang Patah are the first visited by Ghani when he started his intensive grassroots rounds more than a year ago. He has also been constantly in touch with community leaders in Gelang Patah and visited the areas several more times to solve the people's problems there.

Kit Siang and his DAP supporters will have almost nothing else to campaign against Ghani except for the fact that he is a Malay.

It will be the only trump card they could play with in Gelang Patah if Ghani is to be fielded there.

  1. The saddest thing about this contest is that both parties are fielding cannon-fodder - does it matter if LKS or Ghani loses? Both are candidates in the twilight of their careers, put out to pasture by their respective parties. In an election seeing the biggest increase of new voters in living memory, this is a contest about the past, not the future. What a waste!

  2. I think this card itself is enough to stir the racist sentiment among the Chinese. No thank to decades of Dr M racist policies.

  3. Wow! UMNO using racial card now to fight Ghani's war in Gelang Patah... Caya sama lu lah.

Luckily these days people can access Youtube to watch and hear Kit Siang's speeches in Johor.
Can ask their friends to translate without Mahathir and UMNO spinning their meanings.

Only people i know who are using racial scare tactics are Mahathir and UMNO leaders.
Voting for Ghani as a proxy for Mahathir hate racial message is the only game UMNO knows how to play. So sad la you guys.

Anyway, any grassroots MCA/UMNO members are welcomed to listen to Kit Siang and PR's speeches themselves to decide whether UMNO/BN still can be trusted to rule Johor.

UMNO current leadership is evil and the only way they can be reformed is if they are booted out for one-term and then can come back to rule with a clean slate like Taiwan's KMT, Mexico's PRI, Japan's LDP etc.

    1. Weird, evil Umno being accused of using racial card for wanting to send a Malay to contest in a Chinese majority constituency against a DAP hero...while the heroic Guan Eng refused to contest in a racially mixed constituency.

    2. Knowing DAP attitude toward the Malay ,no Malay will gave their vote to DAP and if Kit Siang manege a slim majority it will be entirely on Chinese vote, may be with little support of Indian vote who might still loyal.

  4. I say; let Ghani contest in Gelang Patah and kick out that '69 racist agitator of Malaysian politics. He is already too old anyway. Last time I heard he was nearly blind, already. Like Nik Aziz, people of Gelang Patah should instead vote for somebody who have no chance of dying on their terms of office. The rakyat do not want a by-election which will cause more politicking and pro-long worsening of race relation.

    1. RD, great idea. I support you. All candidates should be given medicals before being able to be nominated. Also psychological tests to ensure they will not go (or are not already) mad. (This will also significantly reduce the number of YBs that the taxpayer has to support). I suggest obstacle course test which could become good television entertainment.

    3. I say, RIP Pakatan (Conspiracy) Party, PAS, PKR & DAP.

BN have 13 componet, yet no problem on seat allocation. PR is made up of just 3, already many are sulking and backstabbing among them. Don't be surprise if they are contesting against themselves, this GE13.

      PR have other problems too.

Now it seems those DAP's Evangelist Christian are already afraid to even mention their true faith. Even an Anglophile name is frowned upon.

(No offence to those with English names. I named my sons with Anglophile names too: Adam, Norman, Danial, Harith and Danny: "Name of Child", short and simple. Of-course, when written, with 'bin' the father. Danny is pronounced 'Da ni', though).

The majority of Chinese are Buddhist. If their younger generation don't care about religion, their elders do. They now have began to realize the true intention of DAP leaders, majority of them, Evangelist Christians. DAP has now turned religious like PAS, using places of worship to garner votes. Like the Muslim, the Buddhist too, wants their descendants to preserve their faith. Politics and religion are perfect recipe for communal strife, too. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure out, what will be the outcome when a 7% Minority Christians tries to exert influence over the majority Muslims. This is why, Guan Eng and other politician in DAP have already kept quiet with the Allah issue. They do not want to alienate the Chinese community further by playing the religious card, days before polling.

DAP's affiliation with PAS has also alienated Buddhist Chinese. They, especially the elders, have always known the history of PAS, which is an extremist version of Taliban that bombed that Buddhist statue in Bamiyan, Afghanistan, 2001. (That statues was carved-off cliff faces in 504~554AD, even before Christianity and Islam).

      https://www.google.com.my/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CDsQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FBuddhas_of_Bamiyan&ei=ubFrUcDDGoizrAeksoDoDg&usg=AFQjCNEvmb6xMsV1427B8Sitb1JtDTRbeA&bvm=bv.45175338,d.bmk

Therefore, they always treated PAS with suspicion. If you don't believe me, try asking the elder Chinese, what those PAS people have done to temples in Malaysia, in the early 80's, especially in Johore. That is why those who support MCA are usually, old people. They know what PAS is capable of doing in their quest for an Islamic State.

University TAR under MCA is helping the country to produce and develop new talent and professionals in our country and even help to develop many great politician in Pakatan Rakyat who had graduated from MCA University TAR. Example Salahuddin Ayub , Teresa Kok , Chong Eng

    2. TAR college was created by MCA because many bright non Malay students were rejected by the public U due to NEP quota system. Many of them have no financial ability to go overseas thus MCA need a place for such student hence the TAR college. Thus naturally these students will not be grateful for MCA because they would have gone to public U based on merit but sadly rejected because of their skin colour.

    3. TAR college only been upgraded to university status in Dec 2012 recently. This is probably a desparate move to woo the Chinese votes at last minute.

Anon 23:41, doesn't mention deporting anybody.

This racist Anon 12:11, suggest to deport the Indians, instead.
He must be pissed-off, seeing the returned of Indians' support towards BN. Can't blame Pakatan supporters though, it was Indian support that enabled them to grab 5 states, 2008.

  10. to have father & son in politics is ok with DAP or PKR (father & daughter) but when it comes to BN its all wrong...
This Malaysia may not have the best system in the world we even may have flawed leaders at time but we certainly better off from many2 other countries in the world... those who never stay abroad may not appreciate the peace & stability we current enjoying now.
Sorry to say this, i think our chinese are really ungrateful people. Despite controlling the country economy they still ungrateful for that.

DAP Cyber Troopers lies , slandering , accusations and vulgarity will not bring our country further and it is extremely bad and unhealthy for our upcoming generation.

  13. Keep up the good work annie. The entrance of DAP into Johore's politics has exacerbated a racial discussion. It does not make sense when DAP's stalwarts like Lim Kit Siang who went around town claiming that BN/UMNO is rascist when he himself does not dare to contest for malay dominated seats. Despite huge losses suffered by MCA/MIC/Gerakan in GE12, BN/UMNO continued to ensure that they were still part of the government/cabinet. Maybe DAP is the party singing the rascist tunes...
