It's the shaping of mind, stupid (updated)

(Note: Updates at the bottom of this page)

The thing about Pas people that I really cannot stand is that they are more concerned about matters such as what other people are wearing than whether they had done anything for the betterment of their fellow Muslims.

Is the matter of tightness of a Malaysia Airlines stewardess' dress more important than the question of whether Malay Muslim men are too obsessed with sex?

Is being beautiful and healthy so wrong for a Muslim woman? I'm not kidding you on this. Some even said that we can't even recite the Quran openly for fear that our beautiful voice may enticed  men into all sorts of sexual perversions.

Honestly, is Siti Zailah, the Pas women chief wants every women to be like her and look like her?

Okay, I can understand about wanting women to dress properly but reasoning that having to compel women to wrap themselves up so that sex crazed men don't rape them is wrong.

It's the reasoning and lessons being thought by Pas people such as Siti Zailah which for me that corrupted the minds of the younger generation Malay muslims.

Imagine, a Malay Muslim girl being thought that she will be raped if she doesn't wear proper clothing, and a Malay Muslim boy being told that a woman deserved to be raped if she doesn't properly menutup aurat.

What will happened to these Malay Muslim youths when they go out into the real world and mix among the non-Muslims out there?

It's the shaping of the mind set which is the real issue here.

For instance, I do wonder how will a Pas leader such as Siti Zailah answer to this question asked by Helen Ang, who is a Chinese non-Muslim,

Sebab agaknya Ong Kian Ming menyebut “Insya Allah”

Will Siti Zailah say Chinese girls wearing shorts are more dangerous to Muslims than those DAP evangelists such as Ong Kian Ming who play act to be Muslim friendly to win votes for his party and ultimately gain power in this country?

Or, is it okay for Pas people to let these evangelists to run around demanding sinister things such as the use of kalimah Allah in their Malay bibles for use in the Peninsular because they are from Pas' ally DAP, which contributes non-Muslim votes for their supposedly Islamic party?

But then I guess, these Pas people are willing to even be blind for the sake of gaining power.

UPDATES

Here is a question which I would like you all to ponder.

Which of these two will Siti Zailah and the other Pas men and women be more interested to discuss?

1. This story about this Muslim girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban for defying their edict not to allow girls go to school,

Malala Yousafzai calls on governments to provide free education

2. Or, whether that Muslim girl is covering her head properly,

mungkin org yg ditegur belum menerima berita mengenai adab pemakaian bagi orang Islam, elok la diberitau.

...tapi kalau diberitau x nak ikut...terpulanglah...tapi hormatilah org yg nak ikut...

Jangan guna fikiran sahaja.

  4. Much as we dislike ( and sometimes hate what PAS does)we have to accept the fact that PAS consists of people who have not fully utilize the intellectual capacity that God has given them.

Their minds are(MOST possibly,)full of lusts, anger and hatred, revengeful and greed and will do almost ANYTHING to fulfill their hearts desire.

Many are pretenders, fully clothed and turbaned, yet go against Islamic principles..

I would just let them be, pay no attention, but unfortunately, we seem to see them at every corner of life....sigh!!!!! :(

  6. Dear Annie,

It is for that reason and the likes of Siti Zailah in PAS that lead to total rejection of the party by some progressive Muslims women who have so much to contribute.
To PAS leaders, just because we dont dress like you doesnt mean that we love UMNO; but we just had to choose the less of two 'evils'(from every perspective). We are fade-up with UMNO 'antics' and reluctant to really change their 'unhealthy culture', but PAS being PAS is just not appetizing. In the lights of Ramadan, for Allah's sake, open your mind and really think of what is best for the ummah, is it how they dress or their unshakable faith??? Does everyone has to dress or look like you to show that they do share some of your 'perjuangan' spirit???

Yes, I concur - there is only one Islam. Dont you ever get confused between the word Islam = faith, and muslims = people.
You can not deny the fact that there are some progessive muslims and there are also some conservatives ones i.e. the likes of Siti Zailah!!!

  9. I think B Siti Zailah made the right call.

The problem with PAS is that they are too naive to assume that all muslims want to be better muslims and they all aspire to go to jannah.

Whenever they call for them to the right path, the expect to be accepted like the way the Ansars welcomed the Muhajirins.

They need to adapt to the realities of today that more and more muslims will prioritise worldy comfort and needs over peaceful life in the hereafter.

Time for them to get out of that pondok mentality.

Pas is a political party...their approach is political in nature...not necessarily representing Islam or 'pondok' way of doing things...

    4. Agreed that pondok and PAS are two different things but many PAS members are graduates of the pondok.

I've nothing against pondok but one common traits about them is that they "demand and expect" muslims to follow them.

    6. True, the professionals are making inroad into PAS and one day I believe they will take over from the ulamaks.

Ayat 177 Surah Al-A'Raf yang bermaksud,

So, Cik Alma, Tepuklah dada tanyalah iman.

Itulah sebab mengapa Islam mewajibkan wanita menutup aurat.

Don't entertain yourself on important social issues, for God's sake. God Most Wise sent divine guidance through His prophets and the final Quranic revelation is for humanity to interpret its wisdom for the problems we have to tackle in various circumstances. We are not "speaking" about discussing the pros and cons of divinely established elements like the prayer times or the procedure of the ritual prayer, or the zakat, or the Ramadan fast, or the Haj, or the sacred kalimah syahadah.
But we are discussing problems of humanity and political ambitions (people who claim to be speaking with divine authority) that affect the basic human rights of muslims and children here and abroad. Yes, some comments may make less sense than others; and some may be worthwhile to ponder while others could be plain nonsense!

Never really care about PAS. I have my share of bad experiance with the PAS man who for some reasons he only know think that I'm not a true muslimah because I'm not wearing my tudung. And as a shallow youth, I challenge him my own way, not wearing for one until I'm 25 years old. Every few month change my hair colour and soo on.

The funny things was, the one who make me want to wear tudung was my tealady who told me to think carefully why I want to wear tudung. If it because of fashion or everyone else do it, forget it. You must wear tudung because of Allah. Not people push you around or because you don't want people to talk about you.

The PAS "advisor" was an engineer and I don't want to follow their advise but a tealady open my mind. It approach that win people over and for some reason this "inteligent man/women" cannot comprehend it.

By the way, your question on what on their mind regarding the Malala Yousafzai, they will simply shut down their mind and try to discuss something else. Education for them only for women to cover everything and how to become a zombie (follow a man without question) to a "highly inteligent man".
