Waiting for Sept 14

I have to admit that I got all excited when I saw this OutSyedtheBox's headline,

Mukhriz Bertanding Naib Presiden

I really thought that Syed Akbar Ali had a major scoop. It turned out that it's just another "what if" scenario posting.

Well, I was actually hoping that the headline is for real.

Really, isn't it good if Umno has a good new younger leader at its upper echelon. Someone fresh and had done good and will probably do more for agama, bangsa dan negara.

Who else among the younger Umno leaders who could fit the bill other than Mukhriz?

Really, this is not because his father is Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. It's because there seem to be no one else who is a better candidate.

Ok, name me a better one - Khairi Jamaluddin? Razali Ibrahim ? Idris Haron? Zambrey? Khaled Nordin? Ahmad Maslan? Sabrey Chik?

Well, it turned out that Syed Akbar Ali was hoping for Mukhriz to contest for VP post so as to push incumbent VP DS Ahmad Zahid Hamidi up to number two and TS Muhyiddin Yassin to number one. It's his "geram kat Najib" bug at work again, I guess. I have a lot of respect for this Tuan Syed but I wouldn't agree with him on this point just yet.

After all, the super pro-BN blog Unspinners had this posting just now which looks quite promising,

Najib umum Polisi Ekonomi Baru Bumiputera pada Sept 14

The person who wrote that posting sounds quite officious, that the tone feels like it was some sorts of an official statement from the PM's office.

Well, let's wait for Sept 14 and see what it's all about. I really hope it's something good. Otherwise....hard to say la what will happen after that.

Whatever it is, I'm still going to hope for Mukhriz to contest for a VP post.

  1. My vote for Mukhriz is NOT because he is DR. M's son. I meet him once and I am impressed with his " commoners" attitude. He is a good listeners but a bit carefull with his word. But, I will bet my money for him as Kedahan has accepted him as shown from the smooth transition fom PAS to BN - good sign. I like the ceramah agama from his official resident which goes live on streamyx almost every Saturday. He touches the very central point of Malays residing in the Malay heart land. You just have to be Mukhriz and not anybody else and not even your father!

    1. What If There is No Mahathir?

That should be the 'what if' needed to gauge Mukhriz's worth!

At this moment any speculation as to his future is mere speculation. Without Mahathir and Mahathir's Supporters, will he be able to stand on his own?

A good example is Najib who took pains to capitalise on Tun Razak's Reputation. Tun Razak is not around and Najib is judged based on his ability.

Despite Mahathir's Support for Najib based on whatever respect the old man had for his father...He could not stop ardent Critics from Lambasting and belittling him, Syed included.

Lee Kuan Yew was around long enough to help his son survive the first 5 years...Will Mahathir be around long enough!?

  2. First thing I would like to know is how is Mukhriz's wife? Is she down to earth as Tun Siti Hasmah or more like the current FLOM? Tak mahulah when kita dah decide nak support Mukhriz, the wife ended up spoiling everything..

  3. Nah, I don't think it will happen Annie. Besides the fact that he is still a 'youth', he would come across as overly ambitious and would smacked as impassioned. Beside he is still yet to prove his mantle. Let see if could improve BN majority in the next GE in the state of Kedah. Only then he has the credentials needed to mount a challenge to top post such as VP.
As for Tuan Syed, I don't share his sentiment towards DS Najib. True he has had his mistakes and wrongdoings, so do we. But by consistently belittling him day in day out, one patience will grows thin. Please take it easy Tuan Syed.

    1. Anon 09:35,
Mukhriz will be 50 years old next year. He is not exactly a "youth". Leading Kedah BN in the recapture of the state in GE13 is good enough an achievement for me. Bear in mind that DS Hishammuddin Hussein is only 52. And what great achievement had Hishammuddin attained to deserve a VP place? For that matter, what are the great achievements of DS Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and DS Shafie Afdal?

  4. Annie, did you notice Beruang Biru "by line" at the start of the article on PM's impending announcement of a new bumiputra economic policy which have been carried by a few blogs? If you want to know the origin of the article, find out more about Beruang Biru. Hint: a group of bloggers under the direction of PMO.

  6. He better be fast before his old man have no more power or hit the bucket. Maybe he will survive now because of this oldman's clout. But IF either of these 2 happen ,he is sure to be going nowhere in UMNO..remember he lost to Khairy when he went for the youth post at the time his oldman was not powerful during Abdullah times. To say that he is very capable and based on his own merit is real bullshit from his oldman's supporters like you.

You are saying a lot there without any substance or proof. Sound like a desperate attempt at belittling mukhriz. His oldman needs no supporters - he is retired. However, most malaysians - unlike ingrates such as you - still remember and appreciate what he had done for the country.

Tell that to Anwar and his family,Salleh Abbas and his family and all those that the oldman have chopped down to stay in power...I am sure they will very much appreciate him unlike ingrates like us..muahahaha

  7. Just look at the circumstances when kj won.....others were punished and were penalized, advised to withdrawn and so on and so forth...and kj? well he got off with just a simple one finger slap on the wrist....kj would have never been KP UMNO if based on credibility and leadership quality....sure he can parade that accent but punt any monkey in a lesser know oxford college and I am sure the monkey would have been better than kj, and abdullah badawi idol

So don't bark about others and blow the trumpet for kj....kj is an embarrassment for every Malay, Man , woman and children

    3. KJ is a PR man in disguise! We'll see if he would still be in UMNO if he loses in PAU. His own press secretary cum gundek Vagina Lee is an ardent DAP supporter.
