When the options are running out

Many were shocked when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad turned up at Dataran Merdeka for a walk among the Bersih crowd last night.

I was not shocked though.

The handsome old man was in a combative mood yesterday.

He must had felt that the options were running out as the doors were all being closed for him to see DS Najib Razak stepping down from his PM post before the next general election.

Watch his speech in Pasir Gudang yesterday and you may understand why Dr Mahathir swallowed back his own words about Bersih by being at Dataran Merdeka last night.

But still, I don't think it will change anything.

Najib will still be our PM at least until the next general election.

He will not step down no matter what his detractors do or say and Umno in general will support him.

Dr Mahathir should just rest at home, stay healthy, and wait for the next general election.

If it's fated for Umno and its BN allies to lose under Najib's watch, then he and others who love the Malay party will simply have to accept it.

Well, if Dr Mahathir still feels the need to do something, he should just blog about it instead of running here and there like yesterday.

He also needs to be mindful of the health of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Ali who was with him the whole of yesterday.

It must be so tiring for the two of them, being 90 years old, to rush here and there from KL to JB and back and then went for that walk amidst the Bersih crowd and all.

And if you all may noticed, the security details of the couple during the walk was bare minimum.

People may just harm them.

Dr Mahathir is after all still not the most popular person among the mostly pro-opposition Bersih crowd.

  1. Annie, for a strong conviction man like him, not doing anything is like lying on a hospital bed, praying for an early death.

  2. Thats Dr Mahathir! He's a fighter! He fights for the people and the country. Malu la tgk so called pemimpin yg muda muda ni, penakut n pengecut. Cakap mcm bagus bagus. Rhetorik saja lebih. Mahathir dah 90 tahun kot tapi tengok la semangat dia, keazaman dia dan keikhlasan dia dalam memperjuangkan nasib rakyat. Najib nak pegi beli kuih buka puasa je pun tapi melimpah melimpah security team dia, mcm haram jadah, bila seorang pemimpin itu bangsat maka bangsatlah org2 yg dipimpin nya

  3. Annie..u should stay at home and rest. Mahathir is not like u. Whatever he does carry weight. Just a gesture or a short visit to the demo already make pro najib people scared to death. Itulah hero

    1. I don't think you care that Dr Mahathir is a 90 year-old-man who has underwent three (or is it four) heart operations. And Dr Siti Hasmah is just a year younger than him.

    2. Annie,

I rasa sepertimana you kata MB Johor kunonnya nak appear tunjuk dia sokong Muhyidin. I rase memang dia sokong TSMY pun.

I rasa you appear nak sokong Mahathir tapi sebenarnya you sokong Najob. "appear aje". Ini pandangan saya dari tulisan you laa.

    3. Kalau Khaled betul-betul nak Najib resign dia boleh suruh perhubungan negeri Johor buat usul tu.Itu pun yang perhubungan Johor buat masa nak suruh Pak Lah turun. Kalau betul berani buat lah. Pegi la tanya Khaled apasal tak buat macam tu.

Pasal aku appear macam tu macam ni, suka hati engko lah nak kata apa pun. Aku peduli apa.

  5. Annie, I wore yellow shirt yesterday not because I support Bersih but because I support any move to remove Najip as the PM. Sekejap Najip cakap umno lantik dia sebagai PM, lepas tu cakap rakyat la pula yang pilih dia. Now rakyat don't want him anymore, so resign la. We can't wait for next PRU as we don't know how much more damage he could do by then.

2.6 billion in his personal account is a fact. And his ministers become moron by the hour to justify how the huge sum of money in his personal account. Kalau western leaders boleh step down for something less, takkan Najip, seorang Muslim tak mau. Tak malu ka dia satu dunia dah tau. I'm ashamed to have him as the PM of this country. Najip, you a disgrace!

  6. Saya tak sokong Najib tapi saya juga tak setuju Tun melawat perhimpunan Bersih. Street demo to change government should not be encouraged even though it is not wrong. Look at Arab spring. What has it achieved? If anything the Middle East is even more a basket case post Arab Spring.

It may feel good today but does it set the right precedent for the future?

As usual, Tun M is unpredictable. Always a man behind the enigma.

  8. Annie... Let's view this differently.... Tun managed to hijack the Bersih demo by just visiting. And yet they say he is a senile old man... Think about it!

  9. Though how much I would like Najib to step down, considering he is failed PM ,but to see Tun giving a morale boosts Bersih was never a good idea .

  11. Tun is a legend & fighter to the end, unlike the so called scum ministers that claim to represent Umno nowadays.
You are right, there is nothing much we can do about the thieving Najib until the next ge, but if the situation that is already bad gets even worse, I presume you are still ok about not doing anything, because as you say has no effect. Great logic...will follow it. Thanks

  19. The Anwar Ibrahim boys are not around this time. Hence no major problem. I think you don't understand the handsome old man. He doesn't need a gerombolan of bodyguards like our current PM. You know why? Sebab he knows he will be safe. He is confident of it. Berani kerana benar. Unlike our PM now. Heard his number of bodyguards just went up a notch. Takut ke? Our country has always ALWAYS been peaceful. Unless you are saying Malaysia has gone down hill since PM Najib took over.

Old man knows better. Ya Allah please allow us to have him for a few more years. Please cabutlah nyawa mereka yang mengkhianati dan menipu rakyat tanpa rasa salah.

    Amin

  20. So proud of Malaysia! Salut to the Bersih protestors, and thank goodness for the technology to assist us, to show that no matter what and how some keyboard bigotist and propagandist trying to spark and play racial undertone to create hatred and bloodshed, everyone can see, this rally brings the spirit of Malaysia from years gone by to fight the still oppressors, corrupters and racists bigoters in society... MERDEKA! MERDEKA!! MERDEKA!!!
