The need to learn from Paris bloodbath

Woke up to this horrific story,

Over 100 people killed in Paris ‘terror’ attacks

The cycle of violence continues.

Saw the strings of breaking news of the tragedy at AFP twitter.

The most retweeted news was about the attackers shouting "AllahuAkbar!" as they massacred their victims.

Muslims will be blamed again, obviously.

Initial reports indicated that the carnage is linked to the murderous group Islamic State.

This could be what they had threatened the West all these while - that they will retaliate for the air campaign and other material supports given by the West to the Syrian and Iraqi governments in the fight against them.

I'm quite sure IS will come up with their own justification for the attack.

They will among others show graphic videos of Syrian and Iraqi civilians killed in Western air attacks in areas of their control in those two countries.

I also think they will carry out more such terror attacks in other Western cities.

They had proven that they can do it and they will do it again.

I hope the Malaysian authorities will learn something out of this tragedy and tighten security measures to stop some of our own terror-inclined citizens from committing such atrocities.

Scores of people have so far been detained for terror-linked activities over the past months in this country, but I believe more could be done.

We need to uproot the whole ideology of terror from our society.

All those so-called religious people and politicians who tried to be popular by preaching tolerance for terrorism must be stopped.

There is no justification for the murder of innocent people.

The terror attack in Paris today also reminds me of a good friend who died earlier this year.

He was killed in a terror-related incident in a neighboring country.

It was a very sad day for me when I received the news of his death.

It was all so senseless.

My heart goes to those who lost their loved ones in such a manner.

  1. Dear Annie
Is the good Ustaz propagating violence in response to the atrocities perpetuated by the Western powers in the Middle East ? I would tend to agree with him if the fight is taken to the foreign soldiers or mercenaries who callously created mayhem in the unhappy lands. Unfortunately the only people these so called 'Islamic' fighters ever killed are the defenceless. Try engaging the US Air force or the Israelis and see whether they are worthy to be called fighters or merely a bunch of cowards masquerading as fighters hiding behind the name of Islam.
Perhaps the Ustaz could lead a team of 'fighters' to engage the Israeli army instead of perpetually preaching under the peaceful and comfortable conditions in the country.

  3. According to most respected Sunni Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi even in September 13th 2001 :

" Islam, the religion of tolerance, holds the human soul in high esteem, and considers the attack against innocent human beings a grave sin, this is backed by the Qur'anic verse which reads:

' Who so ever kills a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he has killed all mankind, and who so ever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind'
    (al-Quran, 5: 32)

The Prophet SAW is reported to have said:
A believer remains within the scope of his religion as long as he doesn't kill another person illegally "

You may call them deviants but as it stands it is the Muslims that commited the crime. There is no religion that profess to be a religion of peace but kills in the name of God. I think Islam as a religion of peace rings hollow at a time like this.

  6. There has been a loosening of the moral fibre of societies around the world. Such that shooting and killing has become rampant.

In the US rampant killing even takes place not in war conditions. Just because of the loose gun laws.

Damn it the US under George bloody W Bush has caused a devastating war in Iraq. Analysts have since pointed out that they didn't have a plan for resuscitation of the country after the last shooting and bombing.

They dismantled the Iraqi Army. They removed Saddam Hussein's Baathist Party members from the Government machinery. Yet those were the educated blokes and having administrative ability in the country under Sadam.

Then all sorts of nincompoops, crooks, cheats and liars went in to replace them. The whole Iraqi military and administrative system went haywire. Years of misrule and newly-found-power Shi'tes dominated the system.

Resentment grew until it exploded in ISIS. They may have started in Syria but operated and controlled a large part of Iraq as well.

The lesson to be learnt is: keep on damning George W Bush time and again until no more like the bastard will come out in the US political scene. And repair the damage in the war front in the Middle East. And never allow ISIS elements or sympathisers to grow in Malaysia.

  7. Why was France chosen as the target of the attack? Not Greece, Italy or any other nearer to the theater of war in the Middle East.

Any link to Charlie Hebdo, those cartoonists making fun of Prophet Muhammad some months ago? Their office was not far from the theater where the concert and the shooting took place.

Never saying thank you to the Malays for having agreed to the citizenship of the non-Malays at Merdeka and relaxing the rules for the issue of citizenship certificates after Merdeka. Whereas MCA Chinese and MIC Indians have thanked the Malays in Parliament in 1968. The DAP Chinese instead caused the race riots of 1969.

Here is a c&p that he should read and be more responsible in his statements in future:

Here is what Professor C.P. Fitzgerald says in his book, "A Short Cultural History of China" (600+ pages) - he lived in China for 5 years to research and gather material for that book:

The phrase "origin of the Chinese people" is in itself misleading.

      1. Chinese culture took root in the plains of Manchuria, a foreign country until after World War II

      2. The northern provinces “have always to some degree been mixed with peoples from the Mongolian steppes". (Hence they are also referred to as the Mongoloid race).

      3. The southern and central provinces of China were, before the northerners moved southwards, "covered" by non-Chinese, the Miao, small in size and who the Chinese were contemptuous of.

      4. The south was occupied by "aboriginal tribes which once occupied the whole of south China". The ancestors of most of the migrants to Malaya/ sia came from the south. The Professor said, "A large proportion of the population of the south calling itself 'Chinese' is in fact descended from one or other of the aboriginal races" - page 6. “The southern people were then treated (by the northerners) as barbarous” – pg 32. Even in modern times, in Yunnan and Kueichou, hill tribesmen number half the population.

The southerners comprise the following major groups:

      a. Fukienese (Hokkien), "a separate stock, mixed with immigrants from the north and the Yangtze Valley" and speaking "a peculiar dialect".

      b. Cantonese, also speak a somewhat alien language, a form of old Chinese - the south was colonized by the northerners, colonization completed in the 7th Century - some 800 years after China was formed as a political entity by Chin Shih Huang Di.

      c. Hakkas, of Kuantung province, known as "guest families" - they speak a peculiar dialect, despised by the Cantonese and do not inter marry. These people were said to have come from the north, running away from frequent Mongol invasions that culminated in the conquest of China by Genghis Khan in the 13th Century.

Another Professor, Albert Kolb, also pointed out in his book, “East Asia”, 1971,

“Chinese culture cannot be thought of as originally Chinese because the Chinese themselves emerged gradually as a blend of many races and peoples”. (Pg 26).

Remember, the Professor said, “A large proportion of the population of the south (where your ancestors came from) calling itself ‘Chinese’ is in fact descended from one or other of the aboriginal races.” So, if any of you are referred to as descendants of the Miao (who are aborigines and non-Chinese), or other aborigines or hill tribes of south China, don't blame me, I'm just a messenger of the news. You can't also blame Professor Fitzgerald any more because he died some years ago.

  14. The cycle of violence continues -

The late Tun Ghazali Shafie, former Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General, Foreign Minister, Home Affairs Minister and member of the Operations Council under Tun A Razak during the period of Emergency declared after the race riots of 13 May 1969) said privately soon after the official end of the Communist Emergency by declaring the end of "Black (night curfew) Areas" towards the end of the 1980s, that "after jungle warfare, there will be urban warfare."

    How true.

The world has been plagued by terrorism in the towns and cities for decades already.

The causes have changed from communism to religious extremism involving the politics of various denominations and creeds. The Ku Klux Klan has not reared its ugly head much in the US but the "aircraft bombing" of the New York Twin Towers was terrorism of a huge proportion.

Osama Ben Laden has been shot dead but so many other "Ladens" have brought so much burden on the governments of the world.

What do we do? Keep whacking those terroristic activities by any political group, religious denomination or even individual terroristic thinking bugger.

That includes anybody who does not allow us to speak against wrongs and threatening to arrest and prosecute people who simply want to express their dissatisfaction against intransigent, apparently corrupt and tending to be autocratic leadership often using "hidden hands".

But we must never use or even condone any terroristic warfare.

  16. Why the Muslims rose to vengeance:

The Arabs had 500 years of glory from the 7th to the 13th century. Having conquered vast territories from the Arabian Peninsular to the northern coast of Africa, on to Spain and western France on one side, and to several states of eastern Europe.

They led the world in science, mathematics and philosophy. Many of these, like the principles of algebra, remain to present day. Even the Pope was over-awed with the speed of Muslim conquest to the extent that he asked a translation of the Qur'an be made by a monk in a monastery in eastern Europe - Abdullah Yusuf Ali, Translation and Commentary of the Qur'an.

That 500 years of Islamic glory was based in Baghdad where life of opulence, grandeur, "Tales of Arabian nights" and merry making went alongside the enhancement of knowledge in science, mathematics, medicine and so on.

Bang! came the marauding hordes of Mongols led by the descendants of Genghis Khan who invaded, conquered and ruled China for about 80 years in the 1260s. Described by one professor of history as the most cruel of mankind at the time, the Mongols killed and maimed the Arabs in Baghdad, ransacked and burned the city to the ground, destroyed so many records and artifacts of knowledge.

Never mind the fact that a few of their leaders later embraced Islam, the fact remains that Muslim pride and honour was vastly damaged. The Muslims prodded along, no longer a "leading world power" thereafter.

Bang! came the Americans, the world power under stupid George W Bush and the so-called Coalition of the Willing, including fellow stupid Tony Blair, bombing Iraq on the pretext of possession weapons of mass destruction that were never there.

I think the ramifications of those led to the cycle of violence. France became a scape goat for one reason or another.

There's nothing wrong with focusing on the details, but someone who is pedantic makes a big display of knowing obscure facts and details.

  17. The Christian centre at Constantinople was conquered by the Muslim Turks and the magnificent churches were converted into mosques, visible in Istanbul until to day. The huge Christian dominion with its base in Constantinople had been reduced to one one acre of territory, the smallest sovereign state in the entire world, in Vatican City, to day.

The Muslims should therefore not feel so vengeful considering that. And that the Jews ancient temple were burnt to the ground by Roman Emperor Titus in AD90 and later, again, by Emperor Hadrian, and, yet later, the Muslim forces beat the Jewish forces, built the Al Aqsar Mosque from which Prophet Muhammad ascended to Heaven and came back in the twink of an eye. They built it on the Jewish Temple Mount, in Jerusalem, reducing the Jews to praying only on the western outer walls until to day.

But now the Zionist Israelis are trying to create a mess there and bullying the Palestinian Arabs with the use of force, killing and taunting. The Zionists have been bullying the Palestinians for 50 years since the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. The agreed creation of a Palestinian state - "two states, side by side" with Israel - has been toyed, tantalized and taunted by the Zionists.

But do these justify the killing of the Charlie Hebdos who made fun of Prophet Muhammad some months back and the killing of innocent civilians in Paris the other day?

But then, was the bombing and messing of Iraq by George W Bush & Co justified? That which caused a hell of a mess, turning Iraq politically into an unmanageable country, leading to the rise of Sh'ites dominance in a Sunni majority country and the rise of people calling themselves ISIL?

These are heavy questions and they sure will linger on for a long time. Together with the violence that will erupt from time to time.

I'm not legitimizing them, just pointing out what may have been the causes and those responsible for bringing peace in this world should consider them.

    1. I think you got it a bit wrong. The Muslims did not beat Jewish forces when they took over Jerusalem that many centuries ago.
