Everyone seems to be writing about the Budget 2016.
Some even cut and paste the entire budget speech of PM DS Najib Razak....as if anyone wants to read the whole thing.
The newspapers are choked full of it.
So, I don't really feel the urge to write too much about it.
Suffice to say, that the budget was not too bad.
It's a budget any good government would formulate under the tough circumstances caused by the current global economic uncertainties.
I'm still not comfortable with BR1M though.
I wonder how long the government is going to keep on giving handouts like that.
Feel such practice a bit third world for Malaysia.
Nonetheless, I received this Wassap message from my friend in Kuantan yesterday,
"Elaun MH naik ye dr 150 to 200"
She was telling me that under Budget 2016, the monthly disability allowance given by the Welfare Department to her son (MH) who has autism was increased from RM150 to RM200.
Well, not so bad.
At least it's not BR1M.
My friend is the one I highlighted in this post,
Meanwhile, aside from the budget, there's this story by Bernama yesterday,
Police Probe Dr Mahathir's Remarks At Bersih 4 Rally - IGP
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar denied allegations by certain quarters the police did not investigate the former prime minister's remarks.
"The fact that we did not summon him (Dr Mahathir) does not mean there is no investigation. The investigation is underway and he will be summoned to give a statement when needed.
"We opened investigation papers after receiving police reports that he (Dr Mahathir) had said several UMNO members received incentives, and not for his involvement in the Bersih 4 rally," he said after closing a Master of Social Science (Police Studies) and Investigative Science Diploma course 2013/2014 here today.
He was commenting on a statement by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday, that the police had opened investigation papers on complaints lodged against Dr Mahathir.
Ahmad Zahid had said that of the three investigation papers opened, two involved ongoing investigations while another was referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further instruction.
I hope they have enough sense not to jail the 90-year-old statesman for whatever reasons.
Everything will be lost if they are so blinded by power and do that.
In my opinion, BR1M is the better way compared to Government kept giving subsidy to petrol and also financial aid to our fellow expressway concessionaire. Not all of the Malaysians use highway, and not all Malaysians use petrol regularly. So, the Government current way, which is "whoever use it, have to pay for it" is good as our country growing from developing to developed. BR1M is one of the way Government helps low income group to increase their annual income i.e. RM1000 BR1M equivalent to increase by RM83 per month. That's good, isn't it? Hope Malaysians don't always believe in Mahathir's way. Mahathir's not perfect, Najib's not perfect, we are not perfect.ReplyDelete
Welcome Sdr Husairi. Agee with you better way than petrol subsidy. But must be better ways to help low income people. In Bengladesh got that bank giving small RM50 worth of loans to kampong womenfolk for beli mesin jahit and start home industry. Why Gomen not think like that?Delete

only many that are receiving knows how important is the BR1M than those that are not qualified but to condemn it.
hope the Gov will increase it to 10k atleast soon until there is a better way how to help people that have no money for now
From economics point of view targeted subsidy (ie. BR1M) is a better way of helping the poors as compared to using blanket subsidy(ie subsidy).Tak payah belajar ilmu ekonomi peringakt universiti pun boleh nampak lojiknya. Dulu kerajaan bagi RM0.20 subsidi bg setiap satu liter petrol. orang yang berpendapatan tinggi pakai MPV. SUV sekali isi minyak kereta diaorg sampai 70 liter. orang kampung naik kapcai isi 3, 4 liter dah membuak tangki minyak motor.Who get more subsidy?Delete
dan penting dapat donation. tapi orang miskin dapat miskin mana ada fairness?
I disagree "It's a budget any good government would formulate under the tough circumstances caused by the current global economic uncertainties."ReplyDelete
Najib's government not good. Tough circumstances because Najib not good policies, 1MDB, RM2.6 billion, "hidden hands", etc.

The good news is 13 UMNO Cawangans have openly and daringly asked Najib to quit. Never before done on Najib.Delete
Done in Telok Kemang, NS. The Cawangan Pengerusis held a press conference there. More Cawangans expected expected to follow.
Malaysian Insider has he story. OutSyed The Box carries that story. Press on Syed on the right side of this page to know more. It's OK to press him from time to time.
The 13 UMNO Cawangans don't care about the Budget any more. They said they are concerned about UMNO/BN losing at PRU14 if Najib continues at the helm.Delete
Telok Kemang Division Chief is TS Isa Samad, trusted by Najib and made FELDA Chairman. Isa could be shocked about it - if he really is, it means his boys have really kept the matter close to their hearts and then exploded at a PC.
It must have been boiling for some time. No mention of support for TS Muhyiddin or what. Just asking Najib to quit. Acting on their own. They must have felt fed up with Najib.
I believe those Cawangans that had speakers making noise against Najib for dropping TS Muhyiddin from the Cabinet at their recent Annual General meetings would be joining.Delete
Unless the Cawangan bosses have got some from Mr Cash Is King like Sharir Samad of JB said he got.
Well, looks like even when there is a lot of cash, not all UMNO Cawangans and even Divisions will listen to the Budget debate but instead coagulate their anti-Najib thoughts and some called for a Press Conference asking Najib to quit.
The comments at OutSyed The Box post include one pointing out that the Budget gives the highest allocation to the PM's Department. Never before, too. Well, the allocation must be in line with the CASH Is King philosophy.Delete
Philosophy? Well, use whatever word you want. The fact remains that RM2.6 billion was in the man's personal bank accounts, he saying nothing more than "I have never taken any money for personal profit", Shahrir Samad of JB Division got RM1 billion, Ahmad Maslan of Pontian Division got RM2 billion.
It's tempting to say that those Divisions and Cawangans who have not called for Najib to quit also got. But I won't say that. I believe there are those Divisions and Cawangans who have, or would - hopefully - join in the call for Najib to quit doing it purely on their belief that UMNO/BN really risk losing PRU14 if Najib does not quit.
Correction to comment at 07:15 -Delete
Shahrir Samad of JB Division got RM1 million, Ahmad Maslan of Pontian Division got RM2 million.
Not billion. Otherwise too many Malay billionaires and the DAP Red Bean buggers will shout against the DEB and Najib will ..... got to watch my words as he flip flopped and retained the Sedition Act.
I would just state the fact - he removed the ISA etc.
Re 06:53, Free Malaysia Today report says "They also gave their backing for deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin to take over, in line with party tradition."Delete
2 billion or 1 million still the same.what about the poor?Delete

Yes, it is good for his polical survival. Why do he cares, not his money anyway. Can always introduce new taxes and let the middle class salary man pay.ReplyDelete
It will help if he puts the RM2.6 billion into the government treasury. See, I don't say "put back" because no proof but many people think it's from 1MDB or gomen. I think Mahathir also think like that.Delete
Old man time is over. Nobody is afraid of him anymore.Delete

Yes, loans for small businesses like for the lady in Annie's past post "Nasib penyokong marhaen Najib" she stated above.ReplyDelete
Any budget for any agencies to encourage those? For the Malays? Not just the RM90 mill for Chinese businesses. Chinese are the richest in the country for a long time and have many associations many millionaires donate for the less fortunate.
I support fully what Annie says - Everything will be lost if they are so blinded by power and jail the 90-year-old statesman Tun Dr Mahathir for whatever reasons.ReplyDelete
Yes, PDRM has to investigate when Police reports are made. Call him to make a statement, yes, but not arrest or place him in the lock up. Ever. He has contributed hell of a lot to this country during his 22 years as PM.
He attended Bersih 4 to get Najib replaced, not to bring down Najib's government. Crazy for anyone to think TDM would want to bring down an UMNO/BN government.
In any criminal act, there must be bad intent. TDM has no bad intent. He wants Najib replaced so that UMNO/BN can win PRU14 and continue to rule. In fact, that is good intent.Delete
Bad only for the Oppies. Sure the Police are not beholden to the Oppies. Never had, never will. I trust them.
'In any criminal act, there must be bad intent' Really? Then explain Sirul's death sentenceDelete
That in Sirul's case the motive was not proven does not mean it wasn't there. Nobody blows up a pretty woman with C4 explosives for the fun of it.Delete
But they are already blind and deaf. Only thing is how far a dead heart will go for the sake of worldly gain.Delete
If 16:43 means Najib has a dead heart, I disagree.Delete
Only the "hidden hands" have - the term used by the former Deputy Director of the Police Special Branch who, like then AG Gani Pattail was suddenly removed from his post and senior MACC Officers suddenly transferred to PM's Dept but Allah responded to MACC Officers Sembahayang Hajat and the transfer flip flopped.
But worldly gain he certainly go for. He now gives unto himself (PM's Department) the highest amount from the Budget 2016.
This thing called "giving unto oneself" ....... well, with all the power in his hands, he can do whatever he likes. And people say the RM2.6 billion is a donation but not sounding convincing, no details.
Now those who dislike that sort of things are asking him to quit - the 13 UMNO Cawangans at the Telok Kemang PC.

Kena ada reformasi. Of the other kind. Not Anwarul Al Juburi kind. hehe
The real reformasi for Anwar is for him to abandon his bad Al-Juburi habit.Delete
The criminal defamation as alleged is against Najib. If TDM is to be charged then Najib must to be put in the witness box. Don't allow Najib to get himself exempted like what he is desperate to do in his suit against Ngor of Perak.ReplyDelete
I wonder how long he will be able to withstand the questioning by the defence counsel. In all likelihood, that's the reason why he is hesitant to pursue his case against Tun Ling Liong Sik.
Getting exemption he will always try. His lawyers will propose - the money will be better for the lawyers - and he'll agree. Anwar Al Juburi went for ALL legal avenues. Najib would, too. Money is no object. Especially if the post of PM is involved and the fees can be paid by the gomen.Delete
He knows that he will not get exemption in ALL cases. Judges are supposed to decide only on the facts presented before them. But not all cases are clear cut and sometimes require the use of the Judge's "discretion" or "budibicara". Not all Judges are well "disposed" to Najib. Remember the retiring Appeal Couurt Judge who revealed that his promotion to the Federal Court was "blocked" (not agreed to) by Najib? So ........
Najib will be able to stand a long time. But certainly not 11 hours like former US Secretary of State and Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, queried endlessly practically non-stop, by hordes of Republican Party Congressmen at the Benghazi debacle hearing just the other day.Delete
Hillary and the questioners could sit down and talk. Najib could sit in court? Otherwise he'd have week knees standing up for hours. Sure defence counsel would grill him until the cows come home if possible.
I don't think Najib is hesitant to sue Tun Ling Leong Sik because of inability to withstand the questioning and weak knees. Dia takut tersasul cakap and keluar rahsia, beb. Macam macam rahsia 1MDB and RM2.6 billion.Delete
Bukan saja prospect of tersasul. Tapi jugak prospect kena "cornered" by incessant questioning by tricky and smart defence counsels (they'd have mire than one). He cannot say dunno all the time. Tun Dr Mahathir often pleaded faded memory at RCIs. Najib is not that skilful.
So, he will not sue Ling Liong Sik, SR, WSJ and NYT for sure. If a gangster, I'm prepared to bet cutting my little finger. hehe
TDM said he is an ordinary rakyatReplyDelete

Petrol subsidy......orang kaya untung,PATI untung,foreigners untung,smugglers untung.....
TDM often menyindir. Sometimes provoking. We don't know what he had in mind when saying those. I f he is prepared to go to court, it may be he s adter the opportunity to "expose" Najib in court.Delete
That would be sensational and the Court would be over-flowing with reporters from all over the globe.
Btw, PATi boleh dapat BRIM ke? Bukan ke utk rajyat saje? Tunjuk IC bila menuntut. Kamu mengarut nampak nya.
Tapi yang 40,000 Bangla Anwar bawak masuk utk undi dia di PRU13 tu dapat. Duit dari Al Juburi. hehe
Power is a funny thing. Political power, that is.ReplyDelete
Funny they say can be funny haha, funny curious or strange or funny stupid - so stupid that it's funny. Political power is all the above.
Arresting TDM will be funny stupid. Saying no wrong doing in 1MDB is funny curious or strange. Claiming RM2.6 billion is donation is funny hahahahaha.
The Budget items are so long and tedious. Any one wants to analyse and say which are funny haha, strange or stupid in it? Sure it's not perfect. Nothing is. Least of all Ah Jib Gor.
Delete
All governments subside the unfortunate, adinda Ms Annie
and the targets and form varies depending on country.
In UK for example there are Emploment Benefits (Dole) for those out of work, which also does not encourage receipients to find jobs kan? In the US there are food subsidies (stamps) which are consumed even when some do not need it, resulting in more poor fat black people.
More and more countries are advocating direct $ cash subsidies like BR1M. One strong argument is that not all will be spent and hence theres a likelyhood of a $ percentage being saved for their children even if % is heheh small.
So the arguments on subsidies worldwide will continue that we can Google search.

Agreed that age is not an excuse. So is one's position in the society, organisation, government etc. to illustrate the proverbial 'justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done.'
In all honesty, are you fully happy how the 1MDB scandal being legally and morally dealt with?
Not happy. That's why we want Najib replaced by UMNO. But the UMNO.BN government stays forever. Amacam, bole? There's no viable alternative, man.Delete

PM's Department got the highest budget allocation among all the government Ministries.ReplyDelete
True, the PM's Dept has, under Najib, become the biggest government ministry with all sorts of foreign advisers and consultants doubling the work of the Economic Planning Unit etc, and at at least treble the cost - salaries alone are high, presumably in US dollars, housing allowance and what not.
Wonder why he does not change the name to PM's Ministry. But he is the boss, his wife is FLOM, said to have an office and staff as well there. Never before like that as far as PM's wives were concerned. Mebbe these also come into the minds of the 13 Cawangans when their Chairmen met in Teluk Kemang calling Najib to quit.

“There are three types of Umno members: those who remain silent and remain oblivious; those who keep quiet and fight for the wrong thing and become rich; and those who fight for the truth and end up nowhere, like us.”
He urged other Umno branches in the country to also speak up.
When asked who would be suitable to take over from Najib, he said “ ... the number two in the party will take over. We have no problems with the deputy president”.

It may not be reflected in the Budget 2016 (could not because of the state of the economy), but Najib wants the legacy of making this country an advanced country.
