Dr Mahathir should rest

It's not a very good week worldwide.

There were another massacre in France, a coup attempt in Turkey,  an angry China over the South China Sea ruling which went against it, and other continuing bloodshed all over the place.

All quite tense.

Malaysia's problems seem minuscule compared to those.

Okay, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Thursday said he wanted to set up a new party, but I don't think that's a big issue.

It's just democracy at work.

It's like when Umno founder Datuk Onn Jaafar left to set up Independence of Malaya Party and later Parti Negara.

Sadly for Dr Mahathir, I think his plan will end up like that of Datuk Onn's - not very successful.

Malaysians are so used to the existing political parties that a new one will find it hard to survive.

Anyway, I feel that Dr Mahathir is too old to go down that path.

He should just rest.

I know, he feels that he must do something to correct things for the country, but he is already past 90 years old.

Let the younger people do that, if they must.

Personally, I feel that Dr Mahathir had done all he can for the country and I don't think he should continue to push it.

His advisors and the people around him really should tell him to rest.

Maybe his son DS Mukhriz Mahathir can do that.

If Dr Mahathir is my father, that's what I will try to tell him.

They have to admit the fact that the rebellion against DS Najib Razak within Umno has failed.

If they want to continue, they have to fight as one of the opposition parties.

And for that, they should not let Dr Mahathir to tire himself with it.

It's too tedious for someone his age.

If he still must, Dr Mahathir should instead help them with his prayers.

If it's true that Najib is destroying the country, let Allah answer Dr Mahathir's prayers and enable the opposition, which include his supporters to win the next general election.

Whatever it is, the young should do the fighting, not an over 90-year-old man.

I can just imagine how tiring it must be for Dr Mahathir.

Honestly, I'm tired just by being an observer of the fight.

What more for someone that age being in the thick of things.

I always cringed whenever they whacked him over this past one year.

It's disconcerting seeing an old man like Dr Mahathir being treated that way no matter what.

Really, if they really love him like they said they were, they should really convince him to rest.

They should be the ones to do the fighting, not Dr Mahathir.

Well, that's my thoughts of things for today.

Tomorrow, I have to go to KL.

Got works to do.

Need to pack now.

Hope you all had a better week and weekend.

  1. You take a rest too Annie. Tiresome lah. Tun M should do what he wants to do. Kucikrap like you shouldn't be advising him not to do what he wants to do. Do not deny that he has the support of many in this country. No need to compare Onn Jaafar dan Tunb Mahathir. Two different poeople, two differing circumstances. Comprende?

    3. Abu Hurayrah (radhiallahu 'anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said:
"When the soul of the faithful comes out [of its body], two angels receive it and rise with it towards the heavens, whereupon the inhabitants of the heavens say, 'A good soul has come from the earth. Allah has blessed you and the body which you used to occupy.' " [Muslim]

Death is painful for the evil ones. Although they are ordered to surrender their souls to the angels, they are unwilling to meet its punishment; therefore, the soul must be forced out. [Qurtubi]

According to the hadith, the Angel of Death says, "O you foul soul, come out to meet the wrath of your Lord!" The soul of the evil person is overcome by terrible fear [and will not deliver itself up], whereupon the Angel of Death pulls it out like multi-pronged skewers being yanked out of wet wool - tearing with them the arteries and nerves.

Kalau kita diam, ertinya kita hipokrit. Sedangkan kita bejanji dengan Allah bahawa kita mewarnai kehdupan kita dengan celupan Allah.

The modern-day fashionable and sexy 'tudung' cannot be construed as specific, only to Islam.

Islam is the youngest monotheistic religion, after Judaism and Christianity. It is a fact that women of orthodox Jews and Christians nuns, donned the same kind of 'tudung' too. It looks primitive though but it justify the objective to make child-bearing women look ugly.

The PAC report stated that the management did not tell the board the complete information over this illegal transaction. The auditor general asked for the documentation evidence to prove that the fake Aabar did belong to IPIC but it was never provided (how difficult was it for 1MDB to get that company to provide it with Form 9*, 24* and 48* from its cosec?) – *just an allegory. Point is, regardless what 1MDB would have said about the fake Aabar, IPIC already stated they do not have anything to do with them.

Therefore, billions of taxpayers money disappeared into a dodgy company, yet you kept on saying there is no wrongdoing? Can you please explain your rationale behind it? That there is indeed not an ounce of criminality involved? Billions of our tax money (yours and mine included) which could have been used for our kids’ education or welfare for the poor had been siphoned off. Reading the comments here, it seems that everyone has made up his or her mind on whom to support and whom to reject.

There seems to be no middle ground.

Everyone is entrenched and steadfast in his or her views, they are unshakeable.

That is our democratic right and let's respect that.

However, let us maintain a certain decorum in espousing our causes.

Please, let us refrain from demeaning and belittling others whom we do not agree with.

Let us avoid name calling and above all, let us not be petty and vindictive.

We should not let this blog to degenerate into a gutter-level blog like many other blogs.

Let us be vocal but let us all be civilised in doing that.

We can be passionate in our arguments while being wise at the same time.

Let us celebrate freedom of speech but let us be very responsible practitioners of the said freedom.

I assume we are matured and responsible adults after all.

And above all else, we are proud Malaysians who love this great country.

    1. Anonymous @ 06:45,

I am not sure what you are suggesting here.

Does it mean that comments which are unfavourable to Najib and Coy should be censored and we will pretend that everybody is soooo very happy with the job Najib Razak is doing?

Would it not be better to allow those comments through so the pro-Najib camp can have their say as well?

If anybody's only excuse for not posting pro-Najib comments is that they will face vulgar language and being whacked by the Pakatoons and Pakatuns, I suggest such people are very thin-skinned and/or not very supportive of Najib and Coy anyway.

As for hateful and vulgar language, please let us not pretend that only pro-Opposition supporters use such language because you know and I know pro-Government supporters are just as capable and as prolific in its use.

I feel that there is a fundamental flaw in the Malaysian psyche - we think that we are the only ones capable of virtuous upright thought while those on the other side of the line are evil and rotten and disgusting.

Is it religious indoctrination? Is it cultural propaganda? Is it an lack of academic exposure?

I really dunno - I just know that most Malaysians think they are very clever when, in fact, they are quite dumb.

"This life, which had been the tomb of his virtue and of his honour, is but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

    1. As for hateful and vulgar language, please let us not pretend that only pro-Opposition supporters use such language because you know and I know pro-Government supporters are just as capable and as prolific in its use.

  30. Salam/Peace to Miss Annie,

I am in agreement with you. In an ideal world TUN's fight should be over. He has already fought his fair share of battles for his country and deserves his rest, if that be his choice. No one would blame him if he rides of into the sunset and bid farewell to politics and just enjoy his free time with his family.

Unfortunately, the reality is far from ideal. In his eyes the country is in jeopardy. I am sure, deep inside, he fervently hopes for another to lead the vanguard. Alas none has done so or lack the necessary calibre(in his perception).

And so he took up arms again for his belief(be they right or wrong) and people. The odds are certainly stacked against him. Most probably he will fail. However it does not make what he is doing any less noble or worthy of acknowledgement.

I do not, however, appreciate the dismissive tone you used in this posting. It smacks of disrespect for Tun, which is unfortunate. If that is not your intention, then I apologize.

I doubt Tun feels he can win. His actions is one of desperation, I feel that is true. The desperation of the Bukit Kepong heroes or the 300 Spartans(if history is not your cup of tea) as they fall one by one against overwhelming odds. In their supposed 'defeat' the greater war was won. And if he wins....well, this is Tun we're talking about. If someone can survive this 'no-win scenario', it would be him.

Tun may do things questionable and I disagree with, but I have never doubt his love and commitment to his country.

    Thank you.
