A quiet day, Azmin and a bit on birthday

I am now at this quiet place, far away from the hustle and bustle of KL.

This is my refuge.

Here, I don't have to worry about things such as the stupid Selangor leadership crisis which was caused by one man's greed for power, money etc.

Why should I care about nonsense such as this NST front page report today

‘PKR now pushing for Azmin to become MB’

when I can, just sleep and have a peaceful existence in this quiet place.

Aren't you all tired of all that stuff?

If Pakatan wants Azmin to be the Selangor MB and the Palace agrees to it, then by all means, let them have it.

I just want them to get on with it and for once start to work for the people instead of having all these stupid dramas.

Well, never mind.

If Azmin also turned out to be a dud, then the people of Selangor deserves what they got for choosing Pakatan.

That is democracy.

Anyway, it's drizzling outside where I am. There was a bit of thunder in the distance.

It's nice to sit by the window and watch the raindrops.

It's a very peaceful afternoon I am having here.

At times like these, I tend to contemplate on my life.

My birthday passed by recently with only three people remembering it and wishing me a happy birthday.

I don't really mind that as I have always been a very private person.

I never have a birthday party all my life. Not even when I was a kid.

Normally, my parents would just bought me a cake and occasionally a present or flowers. That was all to it.

Anyway, I think I would feel awkward if people sing me a Happy Birthday song at a party or restaurant with others watching.

I actually spent my recent birthday working.

My parents were not around to celebrate it as usual.

However, later in the evening, one of the three people who remembered my birthday bought me dinner at a crab restaurant in Oasis, Ara Damansara.

Just the two of us.

It was nice, and a bit fun struggling with the spicy crabs.

That was good enough a celebration for me.

Okay, the rain had stopped.

Enough of my ramblings.

I am going back to resting my brain....maybe a bit of fresh air outside and later a nap.

Tired, but can't sleep yet.

Saw this latest picture of Tunku Jalil and felt so sorry for him.

He looks so thin....and sad, unlike all those other earlier pictures of himself that he posted on his Facebook wall.

I really hope Tunku Jalil will get well soon.

May Allah grant the prayers of all those who love him, so that he can be back to his normal self again.

I honestly don't have the mood to write about politics or anything else at the moment.

Somehow, seeing such a good young man afflicted with illness made me realized that I need to be really thankful for the health and everything else that Allah gave me.

I am not without my health complaints but they were nothing compared to what Tunku Jalil is going through at the moment.

I am trying to convince myself that what the prince is enduring now is part of Allah's will so that he will be protected from the evils of the world.

Maybe Allah loves him more than the others, because he is such a good person.

I am glad that I have never heard any bad things about Tunku Jalil. In fact, all that I heard about him are good: humble, loving, generous, good natured, gentle, friendly etc.

And of course Tunku Jalil is also good looking.

In fact, even those who are not fond of the Johor royal household, seem to like him.

I actually learnt of Tunku Jalil's illness from someone like that.

The person had asked me why I had not written anything about the prince.

When I told him I didn't know that Tunku Jalil was not well, he said;

"I don't care much about the Johor royal household but can you please do a posting so that more people will know about Tunku Jalil's illness and pray for his recovery? The guy is really a good person."

I hope readers of this blog, especially Johoreans will all pray for Tunku Jalil's recovery.

A good prince

This may be a bit late, but I was only aware yesterday that Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim has not been well and is currently under treatment in a hospital for quite awhile now.

I am praying for his recovery.

Tunku Jalil is my favorite Johor prince.

He is a down to earth member of the royalty who has always been close with the rakyat.

The most memorable story about the prince was on how he mourned the loss of his colleagues in the police force during the Lahat Datu incident last year.

A good MB

I am in a small hotel room in PJ now. Bored. So, I am writing this to while away the time.

Okay, the hottest political story at the moment is the Selangor leadership crisis.

Pakatan, I believe is on the brink of breaking up because of it.

There is no way now for DS Anwar Ibrahim, who engineered the Kajang Move to instal himself or as it turned out later his wife as Selangor menteri besar (MB), can pretend he doesn't mind his wife being belittled by Pas president DS Abdul Hadi Awang.

Hadi: Wan Azizah is not fit to be MB

Excerpts:

“There is a series of criteria needed for one to be eligible as a leader.

“For example, among the skills (Dr Wan Azizah) must possess is the ability to face (detractors) and answer hard questions in Parliament and the state assembly.

“If you can’t hold your own in a debate with opposition members in the (Selangor) state assembly, how can you lead (in a vastly larger role)?” Hadi said in Marang here, when asked by a Pas member during a dialogue as to why the party would not accept Dr Wan Azizah as the menteri besar.

Hadi, who was once a Terengganu MB, however did not list down the exact criteria of a good MB.

I am not very familiar with Hadi's performance as an MB which was between 1999 and 2004, as I was still a bit young and hardly been to Terengganu at that time.

BN people said he was a bad MB while Pas people said he was good.

I believe PKR and DAP people used to say Hadi was a good MB too, but now, after he turned his back on them over the Selangor crisis, they are probably saying that not only was he a horrible MB, but he is also an evil double crossing horny bastard too.

Yes, just yesterday an elderly PKR supporter told me that he believed that Hadi is taking bribe from Umno as he has four wives.

Hmmm...if I was not mistaken, Hadi only has two wives.

Terrible la the way these Pakatan people come up with such stories when they don't like certain people.

Just look at the way they smeared the name of TS Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, whom they once touted as the cleanest and most efficient MB ever.

Anyway, what does it takes to be a good MB?

Well, I know one good MB.

Let me list down ten good things that I knew about him while he was in office.

1. He doesn't talk much but works hard. He is also incorruptible.

2. When he became MB, the first thing that he did was to disperse development efforts to balance between those in the urban and rural areas, taking huge risks by giving priority to low-key but crucial projects such as building better roads in the villages throughout the State.

3. He didn't hoard the State government's money in order for its budget to look good but instead spend it on development projects for the people.

4. He never neglect the needs of the minority communities, providing them with assistance and financial allocations for things close to their heart such as vernacular schools, NGO activities, temple upkeeps etc.

5. At the same time he undertook serious efforts to uplift the lots of the majority bumiputera by creating for them opportunities, especially in education, trade and commerce.

6. Being very passionate about his Malay roots, he tried to inculcate a sense of self belonging and pride among his fellow Malays in the State through several programs so that they could be proud of their culture and attain a high level of self confidence.

7. He initiated quite a number of initiatives such as a "membudayakan AlQuran" program in the work place to promote the moderate and progressive Islamic practices which the State is famous for.

8. He has a lot of ideas for the betterment of the State. One of his good ideas which he presented to the Federal government had turned into a major development initiative designed to propel the growth of not just the State but the entire country.

9. As the MB, he gave good advises to the Sultan of the State, instead of accepting bad advises from all sides.

10. He served his State well as its MB for almost two decades and when he was told that he had to go, he walked to the sunset without kicking up a fuss despite being badly treated during his final days in office.

Okay, to me, that was one good MB.

You all can guess for yourself.

Another Saturday and I am resting.

Need to take a break from everything serious.

That includes writing about depressing things such as the Pakatan comedy in Selangor and activities of crooks in Johor.

Those were never ending stories anyway.

Okay, what I am longing now is to go abroad.

But I am broke.

Can't even afford the cheap tickets currently offered by the troubled Malaysia Airlines.

I would love to fly with the national carrier again.

As I had written in this blog sometimes ago, I had flown with Malaysia Airlines in all my overseas travels except for two, London and Bali. I flew there with AirAsia because someone bought the tickets for me.

Those two are my favorite overseas destinations.

Well, London, especially so.

I know. It's predictable and a bit common, but, I really like it there.

I have fond memories of the city.

If I have RM7k to burn, I will make a trip there.

I think that's enough for airfare and cheap lodging for a few days.

What I want to do in London?

Three things,

1. Spend some time at Hyde Park.

2. Buy the cheapest stuff available at Portobello Street market in Notting Hill.

Unfortunately, only T-shirts are cheap here

3. And just walk and walk and walk....I simply love walking around in London.

Well, it's been almost four years since I was last there. Hopefully I can afford another trip soon.

Just a nice wish, okay.

Hmmm...anyone out there who can spare me a flight ticket to London?

Haha....just kidding.

Anyway, as for now I need to sort out my finances. It's quite bad.

So many things to pay and everything were more expensive these days.

Hadi buggered Anwar, plain and simple

As everyone should know by now, Pas today totally buggered its Pakatan allies.

Here is the story by the party's mouthpiece Harakahdaily:

Calon MB S'gor: PAS hantar 2 Adun PKR, 1 PAS

It is now very hard to imagine how the Pakatan coalition could survive this audacious maneuver by Pas.

From the Harakahdaily's report, it was obvious that the decision was endorsed by party president DS Abdul Hadi Awang.

Party sec-gen Mustafa Ali made the inference by stating that the letter of nominations for the Selangor MB post was sent direct from Hadi's office to the palace yesterday.

I guess the Anwarinas of Pas must had been caught totally by surprise too.

They must had been expecting their party to toe the line of PKR and DAP which want only Anwar's wife DS Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the sole candidate to be nominated for the job.

After all, Mustafa had in the previous days consistently denied all news reports which suggested that Pas will spring a surprise in its nomination of the MB candidates which may upset PKR and DAP.

Very sly of the guy.

I believe Hadi must had said this to Mustafa,

"Screw them. You keep them blindsided till after we sent our nominations. I have had enough of Anwar buggering everyone around. Who does he think he is, to dictate things such as wanting his wife as MB. Oh, and screw DAP and the Anwarinas too."

Now, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor is almost certain to choose the Pas guy nominated by the party.

Why would His Royal Highness wants to give the job to Dr Wan Azizah or her deputy Azmin Ali for that matter after Anwar and his gang were being obviously kurang ajar for vehemently insisting on going against the royal decree which requires them to submit at least three candidates.

I expect PKR and DAP will in the coming days bitch non-stop about the Pas' decision and threaten to move a motion of no confidence in the state assembly.

But do they really have the majority to do that?

Currently, here is the battle line in the state assembly:
PKR : 13 seats
DAP : 15 seats
Pas : 15 seats
Umno : 12 seats
Independent (Khalid) : 1

Okay, PKR combined with DAP : 28 seats while Pas combined with Umno and Khalid: 28 seats too.

I believe Pas will have their way because
1. DAP will lose one vote - Subang assemblyman Hannah Yeoh is the speaker.
2. Khalid may likely have a few loyalists among the PKR assemblymen who will switch side when push comes to shove.

Hadi must had done his calculations on this.

How about the 30 SDs signed in support of Dr Wan Azizah which include by two Pas assemblymen?

That one is just wayang only la.

Meanwhile in Johor...the song remains the same

Honestly, I had intended to lay my trust on PM DS Najib Razak to do the necessary to stop the excesses in Johor.

Thus my long break from writing about my home state.

However, a friend from JB sent me this picture just now, which made my blood boiled;

I simply have to write about it.

Okay, these billboards are located near the entrance of the Causeway into JB from Singapore.

The one on the right welcomes people from Singapore into the country while the one on the left advertises the Tanjong Puteri property development in Stulang.

Sorry that the picture is a bit small, but if you can zoom in at the Tanjong Puteri billboard, you may see that it advertises the property as being FREE HOLD. There were also phone numbers of the property agents in Malaysia and Singapore.

The whole thing is akin to welcoming Singaporeans and telling them that they can buy property in JB which they can own forever. Selagi ada bulan dan bintang kinda deal.

Aren't we Malaysians very nice people?

Come! Come! Buy my country! You can have it forever! We don't mind one!

Something like that.

By the way, this Tanjong Puteri property project is being developed by a mainland Chinese company on the land where the old CIQ of the Causeway was located.

How the hell the company acquired that piece of land and had it turned into a FREE HOLD land is anybody's guess.

Don't ask me, okay.

Ask Johor MB DS Mohd Khaled Nordin. He's the main man of Johor now, so, he should know.

Well, never mind. Actually, the whole stretch of coastal land from Stulang, all the way to the Second Link is turning the same way - FREE HOLD land, sold or about to be sold to foreign interests.

My friend who sent me the picture wrote the following in his Wassap message to me:  (Note: You all who don't understand Malay, do go and get a Kamus Dewan if you want to understand him, okay.)

Hak milik kekal itu sebenarnya untuk siapa?

Nama syarikat yang membeli Guangzhou R&F China. R&F maksudnya Rich and Famous.

Tangki najis dia orang ni (pembangunan persisir pantai ni) dicadangkan dibangunkan di sebelah Kampung Skudai Kiri....kawasan yang menempatkan penyokong2 kuat kerajaan BN. Plan pembangunan tangki najis dan kumbahan telah dihantar ke MBJB untuk approval. Irda, dan pihak berkuasa kerajaan MBJB, JPS dan lain2 sebagai pihak planner dan pelaksana tak boleh berbuat apa2keatas projek mega ini. Adakah semua perancangan ini sudah termaktub dalam pelan perancangan induk Iskandar Malaysia? Celik la hoiii!

That's how JB is these days.

Anyway, in case any of you readers have direct access to Johor MB Khaled Nordin, please ask him whether the followings are true:

1.The Chinese developer of Country Garden, which is another coastal property project along the Tebrau Straits had paid almost RM900 per sq ft for the FREE HOLD land.
2. The State government however only received less than RM50 per sq ft from that amount.
3. The Khaled administration had later asked the developer an additional 30 sen per sq ft for a fishermen fund in an effort to showcase how the project is being benefitted by the poor fishermen in the area whose source of livelihood has been negatively affected by all the reclamation works and pollution associated with the project.

Yes, the State government received less than RM50 per sq ft while the fishermen received 30 sen per sq ft.

Now, what happened to the rest of the almost RM900 per sq ft paid by the Chinese developer?

Ada toyol sudah curi ka?

Go and ask Khaled Nordin what happened to the rest of the money.

Again, he should know all the answers.
