The good Sultan on Prof Jamilah's memoir

I almost miss this one,

Sultan Nazrin Launches 'Legends, Lessons And Love:

A Small Town And An English School

It's Sultan Nazrin launching a book by Prof Jamilah.

I think the Sultan likes the book very much as it seems that he had actually read the whole book and wrote his own speech which is actually a book review for the function.

excerpts 1;

He said the book written by prominent academician, Puan Sri Prof Dr Jamilah Ariffin which provided insights of not only the lives of individuals but also the education system during the nation's crucial transitional period, would be a good read for today's educationists.

"We can learn much about community and multi-culturalism from this richly detailed account of how these operated in those days.

"While we may not be able to return to that more innocent small-town past that this book so powerfully brings to live, there may again be valuable elements that we could learn from in our current efforts to build a harmonious multi-cultural society," he said when launching the book at Sime Darby Convention Centre, here today.

excerpts 2 ;

Elaborating Sultan Nazrin said the book provided rich details on various aspects of traditional British education model, with its kind but firm discipline by the teachers and successive principals, who fulfilled their roles in moulding the new generation with such dedication.

The school sought to build confidence and ambition among all its students, as part of an approach that emphasised service, duty, honesty and integrity," he said.

Sultan Nazrin said the book constantly reminded readers on the different ways in which multi-culturalism was experienced before the manipulation of racial or religious difference for political purposes that had become a feature of our politics since.

"As depicted in the many photos in the book, there were easy mingling of classmates from different races and religious background who met as equals on the school grounds.

"Friendships were then deepened through the many opportunities for inter-action and integration that were provided by the school and broader community," he said.

I need to get myself a copy of this book as Sultan Nazrin makes it as if it's such a good read.

Well, I believe in the good Sultan. He's one of the good guys. A better one, to be exact.

Anyway, maybe I can use Prof Jamilah's book as a guide for my own memoir.....which I'm still struggling to complete.

Writing a book is not easy like writing a blog like this.

It needs a lot of discipline...which I'm lacking.

Prof Jamilah, however, makes it as if it's no big deal as she keeps coming up with one book after another.

I posted these about her previous book,

A lady of substance

Of a book launch and review of a Saturday

By the way, I heard Prof Jamilah's husband is also writing his own book and from what I was told it's a biography.

I hope it will be published soon.

I also hope it's one of those no holds barred kinda books.

Would love to see Datuk Ghani kick some ass in his book.

That would be quite fun, don't you think?

Okay, need to get up and go to work now.

Cheers.

  2. Annie,

It is nice to see Puan Sri Prof Dr Jamilah Ariffin getting recognition for sharing her life experiences in the field of education.

But, in my eyes, there is an even better and more worthy candidate who deserves greater eecognition.

Her name is Cheryl Ann Fernando.

This is a small writeup about what she has done.

    https://cilisos.my/these-kampung-students-won-an-english-competition-now-theyre-stars-in-their-own-movie/

As far as I know, until today, Cheryl Ann Fernando, has not had one bit of recognition by any official authority.

I have read other things about Cheryl elsewhere and to me, she is an absolute giant in the field of education in Malaysia.

I believe that if she could get more support from official authorities, the Malaysian education system will be so much better :(

Perhaps I am not doing Cheryl Ann Fernando any favours by mentioning her name on your blog, and she does not know me from the proverbial bar of soap, BUT I truly and sincerely think she deserves all the help she can get.

Somehow, despite a mention on your blog, despite my ardent admiration for her, I doubt if Cheryl Ann Fernando will be hearing from any official body offering to help her.

  3. The hottest thing right now is the botak politician who lashed out at a respectable businessman. And for no valid reason. Not going to touch on race here as that is sensitive. But why some people forget who they are, and spare no thought for another fellow human being? And their behaviour only bring disgrace to themselves and their party, ancestors, descendants....

  11. Annie,

The APMM, Polis Marin, and Jabatan Laut boys also like to read books, like you. The book they read is called the .

Every ship or vessel governed by maritime or shipping law would have an Official Deck Log Book. It contains information like destinations that the vessel had travelled to, passengers that had come on board, goods / cargoes that had been brought onto etc..

It is an offence not to keep one on board.

For example EQUANIMITY would have a Log Book. Inside the Log Book you may find names of the RICH AND FAMOUS, LEADER OF SOME SOUTH EAST ASIAN COUNTRY or their spouse and children, that had ever come on board. May be, the number of condoms used on board, too, could be found.

The Indonesian Enforcers would be busy reading the Log Book which they said was very thick and voluminous. It must be a good read.

Now, the secrets of Altantuya are with the Singaporean, may be KJ, too.

The secrets of MH370 might be with the Australians.

The secrets of Petrosaudi and Xavier Justo are with the Siamese.

The secrets of MH17 might be with Putin.

The secrets of Eric Tan Kim Loong and SRC International are with the Singaporeans.

Now, the destinations and persons on board Equanimity past and present are the secrets known to JOKOWI.

Many may have died with some secrets, Altantuya, Kevin Morais, Hussain Najadi. There is an Official Secrets Act, too. Above all, there are many who would keep some secrets in exchange for remuneration. Behind every attempt to suppress the TRUTH to deny JUSTICE, there is evil. But, as it unfolds, somewhere in between you can find God, and justice that He had promised.

//I want to know the truth which i cannot get from the najib administration.//

    Hahahahah!!

You want to know the what from who?

    Look, it's like this, OK?

As far as I know, the official position where 1MDB is concerned is that no crime has been committed in Malaysia and no money is missing from 1MDB.

In fact, 1MDB is awash with profits - billions.

RPK has also told us that 1MDB assets of RM50+billion exceed liabilities of RM40+billion.

What RPK DOES NOT tell us is whether those assets are at fair value.

For example, is that pencil sharpener on Arun Kanda's desk valued in the books of accounts at RM5 or RM5billion?

It is one of the oldest tricks used to make companies seem more valuable then they really are.

So what if Equanimity has been seized in Bali?

It will be claimed that it has nothing to do with 1MDB.

Newspapers around the world which have pointed to the link between Equanimity and the looting of 1MDB will be accused of publishing fake news.

And the pakciks and makciks in the kampung will nod their heads wisely, and go back to packing their bags in preparation for their haj - courtesy of the huge profits from 1MDB.

Little do they know that the TOTAL amount of money spent on such trips for their haj since the program began in 2011 cannot even buy ONE pink diamond necklace!

Look for yourself - total cost of program so far, RM57million.

    One pink diamond necklace, US$27million.

    9. Poor infrastructure to go with the out of control development.
    10. Rise of basic living cost

There'll sure be some people telling me that other state had the same problem even it's a opposition state. I'll leave it to the people of that state to judge.

  20. Annie,

Sorry to be off-topic but it seems that while PDRM rank and file may be so poorly paid that they have to turn to accepting bribes, some of our top cops are seriously wealthy.

So wealthy, in fact, that one of them, the head of our CID, can afford to forgo RM1million in a bank account which was seized by Australian authorities in Australia!!

    His excuse?

It was too expensive to recover that money from the Australian authorities.

    What a load of bullshit!!

If that money was totally legitimate, it would be a relatively trivial matter to recover it - and at a very very reasonable cost.

Amazingly, this fellow's explanation for all that money in his Australian bank account has been accepted by his superiors!!
