It happened shortly before I left Pahang for Johor after the general election in 2008.
I was desperately trying to raise fund for a centre for special needs children in Kuantan.
Those who really know me would know why getting the fund was very important to me.
I was running out of options when I decided to approach my friend.
He was very understanding when I told him about it and when I showed him all the documentation for the fund request, he promised to show it to Najib for consideration as soon as possible.
He understood why I had to settle the matter before I leave Pahang.
My friend came back to see me a week later.
Najib had approved an allocation for the fund from a special budget in his capacity as deputy prime minister.
I brought up this story again because I read this article just now,
It quoted Permata Kurnia director Associate Professor Dr Hasnah Toran.
I'm quite familiar with the works of Dr Hasnah and know a bit about her life.
She is not a political person and works mostly for the betterment of special needs children, especially those with autism and their families
Because of my experience as I told in the above previous posting, I believe I can understand her sentiment when she defended Permata and its founder, Najib's wife DS Rosmah Mansor.
I think we need to be fair.
Whacking Permata which is meant to assist children, including those with special needs is not fair.
I believe that those who are going after Najib, should not make Permata their target.
It's being mean to do that, okay.
