May 2015 be a safe year for Malaysia

I missed my deadline to do a wrap-up post for 2014.

Was too busy running around where I am here yesterday.

Only reached my base about mid-night.

As you all already know, and commented by other bloggers, last year was perhaps the worst year ever experienced by Malaysia.

There were MH370, MH17, QZ8501, the devastating floods, and many other tragedies and disasters.

Hopefully this new year will be much better for this country.

Honestly, I find it difficult to even wish Happy New Year while here at this flood devastated place where I am now.

Last night, as the clock strikes midnight, I just sent messages of Selamat Tahun Baru to my friends and colleagues who wished me a happy new year.

I felt that Selamat was more apt than Happy, considering what we went through in 2014.

My personal wish for this year is for Malaysia to be more safe.

Tak berapa happy pun tak apa. Janji semua selamat.

As for politics (since this is a sopo blog), I hope for everyone to be more rational as we continue to battle it out with each other.

We really should cut down with the politics of hate, which plays on racial and religious sentiments, only to invite the same kind of retaliation from the other side.

I am also hoping for PM DS Najib Razak to quickly tidy up his administration and Umno by getting rid of all those leeches and other crooks who are sucking the blood life of the government and the party.

I do not wish him to be toppled but at the same time I will not want to fight for him if all those bastards are still there and calling the shots.

I will also try to be fair in this blog and write with all the sincerity in my heart.

For the past few days I have been receiving some brickbats for defending Najib over the flood issue.

Those thrown at me by friends are the most hurtful, but I had told myself that I need to be fair to the PM as the way he was being demonized for allegedly not caring enough for the flood victims was wrong.

I don't believe Najib is so heartless that he doesn't sincerely care about the flood victims.

I had personally witnessed him in action during the terrible flood in 2006 which devastated his Pekan constituency, and I am certain that he really care for the victims.

As I had written in a previous post, I believe that he tried his best but was unfortunate that the flood only worsen after he had left for US.

Let me also put it on record here that I disagree with quite a number of his policies and the way he handled issues.

For instance, I disagree with things such as 1MDB, BR1M and the use of mercenary consultants to run the government.

I also resented Najib for appointing DS Mohd Khaled Nordin as the MB of my home state Johor as the guy doesn't seem to have a backbone to handle the administration of the state or even stop his own people from doing all sorts of nonsense.

If those who want to topple Najib attacked him based on those issues, then I will not want to quarrel with them.

But I will disagree for the PM be demonized by way of falsehood and smear campaign.

Najib may not be as good a PM as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad but he is not a heartless evil dictator, okay.

I will be where I am now for a few more days.

That is until my leave ends.

The floods seem to be improving as of today.

Hopefully, there will not be a second, third and fourth waves of floods later on.

Okay, I need to go out there now and do my stuff.

You all stay safe please.

Take care.

  2. The worst year ever experienced by Malaysia? the tragedies that have occurred are terrible but accidents and natural disasters do happen. But I couldn't put 2014 on the scale of the Insurgency, the Confrontation or 1969.

  4. Najib likes the company of people like Ku nan( I think he is fair and like Snow White) Abdul Rauf (100 per cent UMNO , no preservatives added) and JJ. These people embody the essence of Najib leadership style. I commend you on your continued support for DS Najib and your sacrifice in going to the flooded areas.

  8. Dalam twitter Khairykj ada beliau nyatakan bahawa "its been a while since i've piloted a helicopter. But it all came back like learning how to ride a bicycle (except for my bumpy landings!) Last three days of crisscrossing Pahang and Kelantan, assisting with flood relief " ....... saya tidak faham apa yg beliau cuba tonjolkan. Mohon pencerahan

  9. PM Najib is unfortunately part of the problem of integrity in government on Malaysia.
I doubt if can be part of the solution.

  11. Annie,

    Happy New Year!!

It's been a while since I commented on your blog and I would like to commend you on calling for an end to the politics of hate.

You see, I have to confess that despite being a die-hard Pakatan supporter (at the moment) it is your blog and your blog alone which has made me take a second look at Najib Razak. I thought you might like to know that you have made a small difference in, at least, one Pakatan supporter.

Just don't let it go to your head, ok? I am not a very important person in the greater scheme of things :)

I find it most unfortunate for Malaysian politics that you are not taken seriously by many as you say but then there may be reasons which I don't know about - eg you are a female, you are too young, you are too "out there", you have strange makeup on, etc etc ... who knows? Who cares?

I don't agree with much of what you write but I do like the way you write it - you seem to be very sincere.

My best regards for 2015 and may you write many more articles.

    1. Good for you, "Gladiator"!

What a contrast to the views expressed by another "soldier" - the person who posts vile racist diatribes under the nick "Warrior 231" in various blogs!

This person, after a prolonged hiatus, has just resurfaced in an ex-politician's blog that is noted for taking pot shots against AirAsia and Tony Fernandes.

Keep up the good work, Annie - but don't shrink from calling a spade a spade, be it in politics, religion, business or the economy.
