The Rulers' actual Press release on 1MDB

Someone asked me for the original Press release of the Rulers Conference on 1MDB.

Well, when I first read it, I was taken aback by the whole thing.

The construction of the sentences was "unique", as far as I'm concerned.

So, here it is for the record:

Pejabat Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja Malaysia,
Majlis Raja-Raja,
KUALA LUMPUR

7 Oktober 2015

KENYATAAN RAJA-RAJA MELAYU

Just want to have tea with my friends again (updated)

UPDATES

See, I told you so.

The Malay Rulers' edict is not really changing anything.

AGC confirms binned two Bank Negara requests for action in 1MDB case

Well, at least that was fast, just like what the Rulers wanted.

Life goes on, okay.

But somehow, I don't think I will be having that tea with my friends anytime soon.

I think you all know why.

Never mind then.

ORIGINAL POST

The call by Malay Rulers  for 1MDB issue to be quickly settled was greeted with cheers by the Umno rebels.

There have been quite a number of blog postings by them which praised the Rulers' "titah" (edict).

Nonetheless, I sensed that the rebels were not actually convinced such an edict will change anything.

Their cheers sounded muted to me.

I guess the rebels knew that the Rulers, even if they had meant the edict to be a rebuke of PM DS Najib Razak, could not force the prime minister to quit his office.

After all, the edict sounded too general to me.

Jebat Must Die was even funny in his latest posting,

Adakah Titah Raja Raja Melayu akan diabaikan oleh rejim UMNO?

excerpts:

That's hilarious, Jebat.

Reading through his posting, I think Jebat was quite pessimistic about the whole thing. He doesn't even seems to believe that there is any investigation into the 1MDB issue anymore.

Meanwhile, there were very few response from the pro-Najib side.

Among the few who commented was Voicey, who in his latest posting,

It's still propaganda and potshot to me

asked several questions related to the Rulers' edict.

excerpts;

How to speed up?

Surely Najib cannot be brought to court and DPP argue that he be judged as guilty for swindeling RM2.6 billion based on allegation that he halted investigation.

It is quite fair to ask for investigation to resume than judging Najib as guilty. Now why are the Rulers' so concerned with 1MDB?

Why not BMF, Maminco, ECM Libra-Avenue, PKFZ, and various financial scandal in the past with implication on the economy and international reputation? Why not many other long standing investigation that smells of cover-up?

Why no statement on the Tun Salleh Abas sacking which had implication on the institution of justice and fellow rulers knew the istana renovation allegation against Salleh was a fix-up?

Why protector of the Bumiputera right made no statement on 25 kampong demolished in Penang, Bumiputera's diminishing educational, employment and economic opportunities, palace abuse for business interest, etc?

Why no statement on the insults on Islam and infringement of Islamic interest?

Why no concern on issues of sovereignty, subversive DAP-instigated racial unrest and ISIS and syiah cells jeopardising nation's securities?

Still could not fathom why Rulers' inconsistency to produce that statement. Already there is speculation at large that Ruler's Council meeting Chairman, Raja Perlis has an ex-to-grind with Najib.

There is also speculation Rulers are jealous of one brother Ruler for getting his way for a certain local content on Federal contracts dished out in their state.

Also,

The final question and related to the accusation of invisible hands behind the scene.

Was the Rulers briefed and given a fair view of the 1MDB issue?

I find Voicey's questions to be interesting.

But honestly, I don't have the answers.

The only thing I can think of was that the Rulers were particularly concerned about 1MDB because the issue had further divided the people.

Well, for me it doesn't really matter what were the Rulers' motives.

I just wish for the 1MDB mess to be settled as soon as possible so that we can move on to other matters which I think needed to be addressed for the good of the country.

If things could be better for the country, then it doesn't even matter to me whether Najib stays or goes off.

At least, that's my personal opinion.

I just wish for things to get back to normal.

If the 1MDB issue could be settled and put aside, then I think it will be good for us all.

I miss my tea drinking session with my friends who are now divided into opposing camps because of the issue.

Celaka and babi, so overused lah

It was reported that

Loke in hot soup over alleged racist remark

The offending words allegedly uttered by DAP's Seremban MP Anthony Loke are

"Celaka punya Melayu!"

Loke had however denied that he used those words as per reported.

excerpts;

“I would like to clarify that I have never said those words. The only thing that I said was “Celaka One Visa, Celaka Anwar Yeoh”.
“One Visa and Anwar Yeoh are the owner of the land and responsible for demolishing the settlements in Kampung Ulu Temiang.
“Even Malay families have been victimized by his act. I am merely defending everyone’s right regardless of their race,” he wrote in his Facebook page.
The Jamal Sekinchan Red shirt guy had however today lodged a police report against Loke.

And while doing that

Jamal calls Anthony Loke a 'human pig'

It's becoming quite childish to me.

Like kindergaten kids quarelling.

You curse me, I curse you....na na na na na.

And these are supposed to be our leaders.

Nonetheless, did Loke really utter the offending words in the first place?

Here is the video of the incident,

It sounds like he did say it.

Unless of course if the video had been edited to make it sounds like he said those words.

You know lah, these days the technology is quite sophisticated.

Well, Loke did admit that he used the "celaka" word but not the "Melayu" one.

Why la Mr Loke did you use the C word?

Can't you be a bit more imaginative?

I think the "celaka" word had been overused by the DAP people.

The last time I wrote something about one of them using the "C" word was in this posting,

Celaka punya Kelingon pariah

Well, I really think the handsome DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng should initiate a training course for party leaders on how to curse creatively and at the same time be politically correct.

Err...Umno also need to conduct the same kind of training, I think.

The "babi" word is also a bit overused lah.

I guess the ultra-Melayu among them don't realise that some Chinese don't mind that much being called a pig.

Pig is actually quite an intelligent animal and to some quite cute too.

I even have a friend whose nickname among family members is "little piglet".

Yes, please settle 1MDB asap

I guess the Rulers are quite in touch with what's happening on the ground.

They must have been quite concerned to come out with a statement as reported in this story,

Malay Rulers want quick end to 1MDB issue

Yeah, I also want the whole thing settled.

It's not only tiring but also depressing.

I hope PM DS Najib Razak can ask the investigators to hurry up a bit.

I actually have not been keeping up with the issue of late.

Been doing other less depressing  things.

Therefore, I have to admit that I'm not so sure who are the investigators now.

But, whoever they are, I think they better start cracking and quickly be done with the whole thing.

Of course the outcome of the investigation must be so, that it will convince Malaysians there were nothing hidden from them.

Do that and I'm quite optimistic that everything will be back to normal.

I can then meet with my friends from both sides for tea again.

Some of them have not even want to pick-up my calls because they believe that I'm with the opposing side.

How annoying, isn't it.

More importantly, we can go back to work together again.

I know, some of you all may think I'm daydreaming....but who knows, things may turn up okay again.

Well, that's all for now.

Suddenly feeling very sleepy

Oh, by the way....

Daulat Tuanku.

Thanks for being concerned.

Good night/morning.....

Less deaths, only more traffic accidents...so they said

This is a Bernama report I saw just now,

Fatal Road Accidents Dip In First Nine Months Of Year

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The number of fatal road accidents declined although road accidents rose by 1.2 per cent in the first nine months of this year, says the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

Bukit Aman Traffic Police chief Datuk Mohd Fuad Abdul Latif said some 361,408 road accidents were recorded from January to September, a rise of 4,116 cases compared to the corresponding period last year.

However, the number of fatal road accidents declined by 4.3 per cent to 4,573 cases compared to 4,779 cases in the corresponding period last year.

"The number of deaths declined by 3.9 per cent to 4,940 victims compared to 5,138 victims last year," he told a press conference at Bukit Aman here, today.

Motorcyclists and pillion riders were the highest casualties with 3,098 deaths.

Mohd Fuad said the accidents by category were municipal roads (up 2.4 per cent), state roads (up 3.1 percent) and federal roads (down 2.9 per cent.)

Selangor, Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang had the highest number of road accidents while Perlis, Kelantan, Terengganu and Sabah had the least number.

A total of 57,778 arrest warrants were executed compared to the 310,793 arrest warrants issued during the same period.

-- BERNAMA

Well, I guess that's good news for some.

"Only" 4,940 people died on our roads in the first nine months of this year as compared to 5,138 for the same period last year.

A "decline" by 3.9 per cent. That's a "dip" as according to the title of the Bernama report.

That also means every day so far this year, an average of just about over 17 people died on Malaysian roads which is "lower" than the average 19 which I was told by a friend from the Transport Ministry the other day.

So, no need to be too worried is it?

Let's hope there will be no more people dying on our roads this month and in November and December.

That should be good for the statistics.

Yea, I guess I was over-reacting in my previous few postings about fatal traffic accidents in this country.

No wonder they cut down the budget for road safety campaign as reported by Rocky here,

19 deaths a day and you know who you can blame?

excerpts:

I hear the government's budget on road safety campaigns has been cut drastically over the years. Why is that so? And where are the corporate citizens, shouldn't they be concerned, too?

But unfortunately, according to the Bernama report, the number of traffic accidents increased to 381, 408 so far this year. That's 4,116 more than for the same period last year.

I guess that means more people were injured.

Okay lah, only more injured what, less deaths.

So, this time I'm not going to put a video of people dying on the roads.

Instead I'm putting a video of a guy being "only" injured in a traffic accident, and how he was being treated after that,

Salute to the medical personnel.

That Dr James Bond in the video is better in my opinion than James Bond the spy character. He saves lives.

I hope our medical people are as good or better at treating people injured in such traffic accidents.

Based on the statistics, I think we needed the best.

Genius

I'm staying indoor today.

The haze is definitely worsening.

Yesterday was bad enough, but today is even worse.

It's the Indonesians fault.

They were burning their forests in Sumatera and the smoke is now choking us.

What is their supposedly good president Jokowi doing?

Useless.

I actually went out yesterday.

A former colleague asked me to join her for a movie.

Decided to drive as the haze was already quite bad.

Definitely not a good idea to ride a motorcycle in this haze if you have the option of driving a car.

I was driving rather slowly as visibility was a bit limited due to the haze.

Met my former colleague at One Utama.

She was wearing a surgical mask and complained that she can feel the haze even inside the shopping complex.

She was all grumpy....as usual.

She was right though. I parked my car at the second floor basement level and I noticed that the haze was even down there.

My former colleague and I had early dinner at one of the Chinese restaurants.

She was having some soup and vegetable dish she said would negate the effect of the haze while I just had some fried buns and water chestnuts dessert. I'm trying to lose weight.

She decided for us to watch the movie Pawn Sacrifice
.
It's a movie about the chess genius Bobby Fischer

I don't mind as I'm a chess player.

It was quite a good movie but it's more about the unstable mental condition of Fischer rather than chess.

It however reminds me of all those chess games I played with my youngest uncle who is the brother of my father.

He was an excellent chess player and he beat me most of the time.

My uncle was a very intelligent guy.

However, not unlike Fischer, he was fated to lead a life different from others.

A sad life.

I still visit him from time to time.

But we didn't play chess these days.

He just can't play anymore.

We normally just talked and shared memories of those days when he was the same as others, with hopes and dreams.

Whatever it is, I'm still thankful to Allah for this life and pray for my uncle to be safe and happy...despite everything.

As a tribute to my uncle, this is the crucial Game 6 of the Fischer-Spassky match of the 1972 World Championship final which was highlighted in the movie but not shown in details,

Ramblings on pomelo for gods and more deaths on the roads

Fallen asleep about 11pm.

Woken up by some mosquitoes about 2.30am.

I had forgotten to switch on the air-con.

Somehow, mosquitoes don't come to my room when the air-con is on.

Went downstairs to the kitchen. Was thirsty.

There's a pomelo my mother brought back from Kluang for me during the weekend.

Ma told me that my grandmother actually bought the pomelo for prayers purposes.

My mother's family members are Taoist. My grandmother always placed pomelo or other fruits at the altar as an offering to the gods.

When my mother was about to come back to KL, my grandmother told her to take the pomelo home for me.

She knows I like pomelo.

I love my grandmother very much.

I cut and peeled the pomelo and ate some of it just now

Very nice.

After that I came back to my room and started reading the other sopo blogs before starting this posting.

They are still at it.

The ding dong battle.

Tried to read what a friend wrote about how Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is now a liar.

I can't finish it.

My friend used to be a Mahathirist.

Honestly, I'm tired of it.

Everything about the ding dong battle seems so fake to me of late.

That's why I decided to highlight other issues and at the moment my main concern is road safety.

I think it's more constructive to highlight such an issue rather than getting all bogged down by the depressing ding dong political battle.

Hey, 19 deaths per day on our roads is no joke, okay.

I think it's more important to find a solution on how to save those lives than discussing who are the better politicians amongst the mostly liars, hypocrites, corrupts, morally bankrupts etc.

Unfortunately, my last two postings on road safety still attracted a lot of political comments instead of the desired ideas on how to save lives on the roads.

I just showed you all videos of motorcyclists flying off to their death after a collision and some still want to talk about politics.....so terrible lah you all.

Maybe it's my fault too.

I had been focusing too much on motorcyclists and probably most readers of this blog are car drivers.

Some of you all probably think that "Hey, those are motorcyclists flying all over the place...I drive a car....I'm not going to die like that."

For those of you guys who are thinking like that, here is a video you should watch,

Ya, I'm trying to scare you all into being more careful while on the road.

Actually, there are even more horrific traffic accidents videos on YouTube but  I think that one should suffice for now.

The part involving the horny cows was funny though....

Heck, I wish TV3, Astro and the other mainstream TV channels can show these kind of videos so that their viewers would realised that they are not Ironman or Superman when they are on the road.

Well, never mind....I know they got other more important things to do....like interviewing Ezam, Azwandin, Nallakaruppan and other jokers who were hired to whack Dr Mahathir.

Fine.

I do whatever I can over here.

Sometimes I do wonder,,,,ain't all those smart big time editors ever concerned and want to do something real to save those lives we are losing on the roads?
