Mukhriz and Khairy should contest for VP

I got this bit of time before the Raya kenduri at my family home starts an hour from now. I would therefore like to use the time to put in this blog a little idea which crossed my mind before I fell asleep last night.

I would like to suggest for Kedah MB DS Mukhriz Mahathir to contest for the Umno vice-presidency in the coming party polls.

I know it may sound quite too ambitious but then again I don't see any harm in him trying.

After all, Umno badly needs a capable young leader at the upper level of its leadership.

For the record, Mukhriz had proven himself capable of handling the most arduous tasks by leading BN and Umno to the most significant achievement in GE13 which was the recapture of Kedah.

And while I'm at it, I think Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin should also have a go at one of the VP posts as well. He should try to move out of his comfort zone in Umno Youth and let the party wing have an even younger leader at its helm.

This is a long shot but for me, if Khairy can actually team up with Mukhriz in the VP contest, I think I could buy the suggestion that he really has nothing to do with his father-in-law's latest moves against Mukhriz's dad and that he had really turned a new leaf.

I think that the whole thing about Pak Lah attacking Tun M in his book could then actually just be turned into a silly joke and Pakatan could not make much out of it.

I think Umno could benefit with having the two relatively young guys as its vice presidents. One, cool and composed, the other, cunning and forceful.

Of course, that's provided both are sincere with each other in their partnership to uphold the struggle for agama, bangsa dan negara.

  4. There are only three slots for vice president and there are a bunch of aspirants. The incumbents are going to have it tough this time around, no doubt about that. The voting system also has been changed as to make way for more members to have a say of the kind of leader they want.
Out of three of the current incumbents, Ahmad Zahid is the only one who stand a chance to retain his post as he's the only one who still rides the waves of publicity due to his involvement and his record so far as former defence minister and no nonsense KDN newly appointed minister; though it looks like there's a concerted effort to tarnish his reputation and image by an attempt to bring his 2006 assault case back into the public consciousness. I think he can handle that. It shows there's uneasiness in the opposition camp having a tough guy as home minster. He could expect more to come of smear campaign orchestrated against him throughout his tenure.
I've heard Musa Aman also throws his hat into the ring. Haven't heard the buzz from Ali Rustam and Isa Samad. I would like see Idris Jusoh to vie for the post. He is a hot property right now within Umno rank due to his high profile involvement and partly being credited in recent BN victory in Kuala Besut by election. Still hot on the heel of that sweet victory, he should turn it into something meaningful by becoming more ambitious. This is a golden opportunity for him. Like the English used to say 'strike while the iron is still hot..'
He also got an enviable record of being an architect of returning Terengganu back into BN fold back in 2004 and repeated comfortable victory in 2008 despite BN suffered its worst showing in election history. In recent GE, he done it again as he cemented his reputation by making Besut parliamentary constituency is the only constituent in Terengganu where there is no state representative from Pas since 2004. It shows he was able to unite the state and branch leaders into formidable force when it mattered and let them into the battle.
His brief tenure as Terengganu MB worth considerable commend. During that short period, Terengganu landscape had changed markly especially around KT. It showed thathe too has got his own set of ideas and vision on how to modernize that oil-rich state, though he wasn't able to finish what he had set out to do. It was unfortunate for him. It was something of a feat nevertheless.

    1. The Taman Hadhari was a waste of the state's revenues to the tune of hundreds of millions if you ask the people of Trengganu. What has it done to improve the faith of the Muslims and how has it helped to forward the Islamic dakwah to the non-muslims who visit the place .... anyway it isn't popular with the foreign tourists either. And what has come about with the board of inquiry into the tumbling down of Trengganu's new stadium roof years ago?

  5. Annie,

We don't mind Mukhriz but definitely not KJ. KJ should be ousted in UMNO GE. It beats me why on earth Jibby appointed him in his cabinet. This goes to show otak Jibby dah tak betul!

Anyone who can appoint a uneducated Indian as Tabung Haji chairman is clearly otak tak betul.
The current UMNO President thinks like the previous 2 presidents he is the Sultan of UMNO. Weeii we Malays are educated now la..
Appoint Indian Muslim ali hamsa, srigar, singh, kaur, deepak, singh scorpeane etc... All indians who drop by his house. All ugly people.

This alone is ground enough to disqualify Najib from leading the Malays biggest party. Mentally unfit.

  7. "I think Umno could benefit with having the two relatively young guys as its vice presidents. One, cool and composed, the other, cunning and forceful".

One, cool and composed, the other, cunning, forceful, tak tahu malu, di-dapati bersalah dalam politik wang semasa pemilihan raya bagi KP....dan banyak lagi scandal politik masa Pak Lah jadi PM.

As for Mukriz, he should go for bigger things. Being a MB of a small state is not exactly achieving something grand. Go for a full Menteri in the cabinet post. Play politics at international level. And YES he should contest for whatever is available at the top post. MB post is a dead end job. He cannot be like Pahang MB who is into his 4th term as MB. At least Pahang is much a bigger state to govern but Kedah?
