The need for handsome men in Kuala Besut

It turned out that Pas had decided not to field the heartthrob superstar ustaz (or ostad, as some preferred to spell it) Azhar Idrus for the Kuala Besut by-election.

The party instead choose to field a rather mundane candidate,  businessman Azlan Yusof, 48.

Pas made the choice probably because it wanted to prevent the campaigning from turning into another religious circus in view of the current Ramadhan month.

Furthermore, I don't think the hardcore Pas ulama such as Haron Din and Harun Taib really favor the party to field such an outlandish ustaz/ostad as Azhar as its candidate.

They probably had cringed at the many very public out of the world pronouncements made by Azhar such as whether Islam condone the act of fellatio, which is among subjects seem to be so popular among a lot of his Malay Muslims audience at his tazkirah (religious education lesson).

Barisan Nasional on their part had also fielded a relatively unknown candidate in  37-year-old Tengku Zahrin Che Ku Abd Rahman, an engineer with the Drainage and Irrigation Department.

But Pas still seems to think that they need to have a popular figure to lead the team in Kuala Besut, and for this they had selected perhaps their most handsome leader Husam Musa.

The weird thing is that, why did the party have to bring over Husam from Kelantan to lead their team in Besut, Terengganu. 

Ok, I know about the Besut people speaking in Kelantanese dialect and all, but, don't they have any handsome credible Terengganu leader to lead the team?

After all, BN's team is being led by local guy DS Idris Jusoh, who is also handsome in his own old man style.

Another thing which pique my interest about the whole thing is that, why did Pas choose Husam who lost the fight for Putrajaya in the GE13 and dropped from his Kelantan exco post?

I wonder whether it was a move to keep Husam in the Pas' mainstream or  instead more of a strategy to kill him off altogether in the event that Pas lose in Kuala Besut.

Meanwhile, the people of DAP these days seem to feel that they have the right to interfere in the inner workings of Pas following their success in GE13 to become the most powerful party in Pakatan. 

This include telling the Pas people to get rid of their ulama leaders. Just read this comment by a most likely DAP guy at the Harakah's story which I linked above,

Husam Musa and two other high power figure to help capture Kuala besut, but figures like Harun Taib and Haron Din are no help. They r a nuisance to the party. Pas will lose the non-muslim votes in Kuala Besut n if they r not careful PAS will lose more beyond Kuala Besut. Get rid of the cancerous cell in PAS so as to maintain the non-muslim n improve on non-muslim backing. For the start we will not send anybody to help in campaigning. We will watch and discuss with PKR on our next course of action. PAS don't forget there is still GE 14 and beyond. Look like UMNO BN is doing much better than PAS.
