Kedah Umno trying to be on the right side

When

A storm is gathering

I choose to be on

The right side

Some readers of this blog were not happy with me and I received comments such as this

Make your mind up Annie. Loyalties can not be divided, either your are with Dr.M or Najib. You either sail or sink together. I would personally go with the winning hand which is Najib.

Mahathir has found his match now not in form of Najib but Rosmah. She is quite a formidable character. Unfortunately, Mahathir neither has time nor health on his side.

Today, Bernama reported this,

ALOR SETAR, April 18 (Bernama) - Kedah UMNO has pledged full to the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir.

Its deputy chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said this was agreed at a special meeting of Kedah UMNO Liaison here, Saturday.

He said the special meeting also agreed that Mukhriz should not make a statement on the issue on April 24 in Kuala Lumpur.

"We have also agreed to cancel the Kedah Umno Liaison meeting on April 24," he told a press conference after the special meeting at Seri Mentaloon, the menteri besar's official residence.

Mukhriz was not present in the meeting room during the press conference.

The special meeting which began at noon and ended two hours later was also attended by Barisan Nasional (BN) state assemblymen in Kedah.

It was chaired by Mukhriz, who is also Kedah UMNO Liaison chairman.

All UMNO division chiefs were present at the special meeting except Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim (Baling), Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom (Jerai) and Datuk Mohd Johari Baharom (Kubang Pasu).

The only BN state assemblyman missing from today's meeting was Datuk Ahmad Lebai Sudin (Bukit Lada).

Ahmad Bashah, who is also the Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, said those who did not attend the special meeting were overseas and had sent representatives.

The meeting also agreed to respect the views of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wants him to give Najib the chance to run the country.

It also supported the prime minister's decision urging the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to conduct an audit of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

He said the question of Kedah UMNO unity did not arise as shown by the special meeting which fully supported the prime minister and the menteri besar.

Asked whether Kedah UMNO would take action against Ahmad Lebai for urging Mukhriz to quit if he failed to support Najib, he said it was up to UMNO headquarters.

Ahmad Bashah also said Ahmad Lebai's remark calling on Mukhriz to quit the menteri besar's post was a personal statement and did not represent any party.

I think Kedah Umno is also trying to be on the right side.

Guess they also realized that

You kick out Mukhriz, you die, okay

    1. You say smart move, I say they are stuck between a rock and a hard place, running around like a headless chicken.Their statement is laughable, "Kita sokong kepimpinan Datuk Mukhriz dan Datuk Seri Najib". Woi, his Dad is asking Najib to take a running jump off a cliff, this is the best you can come up with in support of your Boss.

Najib to me is a good man, just surrounded by too many people yang bikin sial. Prehaps, couple of rounds of Mandi Bunga wont do him any harm. If Genghiz Khan were ever Najib, I don't think he will ever leave this tent, let alone fight any wars. Just too many non commited fence sitters around him........play safe type......ambassadors Of Durex.

  2. Annie, the problem when a PM tried to be a President. don't tell me our PM doesn't know anything about 1MDB as he also the Finance Minister. The way he replied is PAC , Auidit etc seems to tell us that he doesn't know what happen except telling us DONT WORRY ASSET IS GRETER THAN LIABILITIES!. That it? Trust Najib is better that what he is today. On the Bridge why made promise to the grand old man when you cant deliver? I don't know what really happen but that what being said. Promise for the sake of becoming a PM then forget about it?

  3. 1. From this Press Conference, clearly, (a) Mukhriz had distanced himself from it (which I think is only appropriate!), and (b) ‘those absentees’ were DSN’s loyalist (notwithstanding that their reps were present whatsoever), and they would not want anything else other than Mukhriz’s resignation as MB.

    2. Pursuant thereto, here is my money (continuation from where I had left off, previously). (A) Mukhriz forms a new party; (B) then, forms an alliance with PKR (Azmin) and Lim Guan Eng (DAP) to take on UMNO and PAS, as a ‘Unity Alternative’; (C) invite Ku Li, Mustapha Muhammad, and Rahman Dahlan, as members, and (D) march to Putrajaya with the Rakyat in tow after GE14 in 2018 or whenever.

    3. Legal frameworks: For the first three years, (a) Ku Li would be PM with Azmin and Mukhriz as DPM 1 and 2, respectively. LGE as FM, MM as Economic Minister, and Rahman Dahlan as Unity Minister of ‘the Unity Government’; (b) the Cabinet MUST focus in getting our finances in order, economy back on its feet, and unity amongst all Malaysians at an all-time high; (c) on the fourth year, Azmin would assume premiership, for two 5-year term each with Mukhriz as DPM. After Azmin’s term is over, Mukhriz would assume premiership for next 2 terms with Azmin reverting to whichever positions he deems it fit and appropriate; (c) GE would be held as usual; every 5 years or so. However, in the interest of unity, there shall be no contents for presidents in all the three political parties. Elections would occur only in the events of death to incumbents or on voluntary resignations, and (d) matters concerning Islam and Malay privileges shall be referred to the Rulers’ Council, for deliberations and confirmations. All religious matters shall be limited to private domain only, and not for public scrutiny or discussions.

    4. There shall be no ‘witch-hunting.’ DSN and Rosmah may retire peacefully, in Cayman Islands or wherever they choose to retire in. As for other UMNO and PAS members, they could either become lousy opposition’s members or retire from politics all together. Moreover, either they are too old, too corrupted or too unprincipled to continue with their political careers anymore!

    5. All is well; end is well. Should we are persistence in pursuing with existing political landscape; I believe we would end in ruins; just like those other third world countries.

    6. We have to start over to give future generations and ourselves a second chance. Our founding fathers did it before. Hence, I do not see any reasons why we could not replicate it now.

  4. Saya juga berpendapat Najib berjanji untuk membina jambatan indah kerana amat amat memerlukan sokongan TDM untuk menjado PM. Sudah dapat jawatan, peduli apa dengan janji dengan TDM untuk bina jambatan. Tapu mungkin dia lupa, tanda kita orang Islam, menunaikan janji!
