Pray for Penang and others

Things are apparently very bad up north, especially in Penang.

I don't want to comment anything more except calling for you all dear readers of this blog to pray for the flood victims in that state as well as those also affected in Kedah and Perak.

No politics, okay.

Amidst the disaster, it's heartwarming to know that the state governments, especially Penang are working well with the federal government to alleviate the suffering of the flood victims.

For that I have to particularly congratulate Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng and Deputy Prime Minister DS Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Please click on this link to read the story,

Guan Eng reaches out to DPM for army's help

Soldiers evacuating flood victims in Penang today.

Guan Eng looks especially sincere in this video,

Okay, I wouldn't make fun of him for quite a while after this.

Guan Eng, you bersabar juga ya.

Kalau mcm tu baik pinjam PTPTN utk beli kereta baru sbb bolih buat UBER. Sepatutnya dicipta lebih byk kerja yg berkaitan dgn pendidikan graduan. Bangla gaji 2500 sebulan dgn fresh grad gaji 2500 sebulan tak sama. Bangla makan nasi dgn kuah air campur garam jer. So kerajaan nak graduan ikut cara hidup bangla ker, itu ke maksud kerajaan suruh graduan ubah sikap? krnapa menteri nak hidup mewah tapi rakyat disuruh hidup mcm pendatang asing? adil ke kerajaan yg mcm ni?

  3. Don't hope for the corrupt thieving UMNO regime to arrest Jho Low. In fact Jho Low dock-in at PD in order to get all the UMNO Ministers and their equally corrupt apparatus chiefs to get on board his cruise ship and line up behind him, then each one of them take turn to kiss his butt.

    1. Mungkin LGE amat tertekan, sampai lupa,TENTERA is under Hishamuddin not Zahid. Apa pun, Zahid dapat durian runtuh. Semua blogger Umno cakap Zahid got a big heart 'berjiwa besar' sanggup tolong Lim Guan Eng!
Memang kesian blogger A9 ni -cannot see anything
beyond their nose.
Bantuan yang diminta, memang hak rakyat Peneng kerana Peneng bukan Bangladesh or Rohingya .
They seem to forget that Penang, Kelantan and Selangor under the constitution is part of Malaysia, therefore whatever yang Lim Guan Eng mintak, memang patut diberi.
kerajaan BN atu pun bukan BN.
Annie, hope what I have written here is not political. I am just airing my view regarding other bloggers including rockybru, who seems to forget that Peneng is part of Malaysia therefore deserves to get the help from the army, polis and bomba.

Nota: Saya pun sedih tengok Guan Eng.

    3. Guan Eng thinks Zahid was a more effective Menteri Mindef. Or Guan would want to call cucu pengasas umno.

      Sorry about the little politics.

      Ini bencana alam.
Masalah saliran di Pulau Pinang ni pun bukan baru. Jadi bila hujan luarbiasa dan angin sekali, musibah la. Tapi bukam Pulau Pinang aje. Seberang Prai, Kedah, Perak pun banjir jugak.

Ada former Komander ATM buat statement memang tak payah call menteri pertahanan pun, ATM sedia bantu sepatutnya.

  6. Bila musibah melanda we have to put aside our differences and work towards helping those affected by the flood.
I remember during a big flood in Kelantan a few years back so many NGOs came forward to help.
Kalau kita boleh tolong orang Bosnia,Palestin, Rohingyas dsbnya takkan kita tak boleh tolong sesama rakyat Malaysia.

After all any part of Malaysia in trouble must be helped by the government of Malaysia.

But learn the lesson from Kelantan, where millions in flood aid were diverted to pockets of Umno leaders.

There should never be profit from human tragedy.

Dana Mangsa Banjir Kena Songlap - Ahli Wanita UMNO Kelantan Disiasat.

Anak buah mak lembu ke apa? Dana untuk mangsa banjir pun kena songlap.

Ini betul-betul kaki pecah amanah. Punya takde intergriti sampaikan hak orang susah pun depa merembat. Takde ahti perut sungguh.

Gila kau. Menjawat jawatan tertinggi.

Bukan tak cukup makan. Terlebih2 makan pun nak songlap juga? Dah la kerja dengan YAPEIM. Slumber haram songlap duit untuk mangsa banjir. Mangsa banjir dah la sampai ke hari neh bukan semuanya menerima rumah baru ataupun terlibat dalam proses pemindahan (disebabkan rumah tak siap lagi).

Siap orang risau2 mungkin akan berlaku musibah banjir lagi. Lahanat sungguh la puak2 UMNO.

Perangai macam celaka! Like boss like penyokong.

Boss kawtim 2.6b. Takan ahli tak boleh sapu sikit-sikit kot.

Institusi Islam..! Pegawai tinggi Melayu Islam...!

      Amat memalukan.

Dosa fitnah pale otak hang. Dosa 1000x lebih besar...songlap wang mangsa banjir tu.

    5. Annie,

Actually don't ever hope for MACC to do anything about that missing flood money.

Do you think anything will ever happen in these cases:

      Isa Samad

      Annuar Musa

      Shahrizat Lembu

KJ RM100 million songlap from KBS

      Jibbi Tun Songlap

Please lah. You must be naive if you think so. It was just that public anger over FELDA and MARA was so great, they had to put on a show. Nobody will be punished.

Just remember that the last guy was recommended TWICE to be prosecuted by the old MACC before they installed the gatal guy as replacement.

So, that flood relief money is gone.

      Forever.

      Even sadder -

      - in Kelantan, there were many promises made to build homes to replace those lost in flood waters.

The following Raya, many people were still camping in ruins.

      What happened to the money?

I hope this doesn't happen in Penang or elsewhere.

  8. Annie,

//Things are apparently very bad up north, especially in Penang.//

Yupe, it is really tough for them up in the northern states.

I dunno how it is in Perlis, Kedah and Perak but things in Penang are really bad.

I am reasonably confident that Penang will manage and will pull thru.

    //No politics, okay.//

Hm, this is a bit hard for me because what I am about to say does have political implications, sorry.

The floods in Penang are carefully watched by many voters.

First and foremost in their minds is how will Penang address the aftermath of the floods.

We know that states on the East Coast of Semananjung face floods year in year out with little effectiveness from the "work" being done on flood mitigation.

Hell, even a layman like me could think of how to address the problems on the East Coast - dredging, bunds, drainage, planned development are just some measures which I would have thought are important.

And I am a layman with zero experience in this.

    Penang?

    Well, we will see.

//especially Penang are working well with the federal government to alleviate the suffering of the flood victims.//

The federal government really does not have a choice but to assist Penang.

If it did not, it would be an international laughing stock for ignoring the plight of one of its states under duress from a natural disaster.

Sorry about the political undertones :(

//Okay, I wouldn't make fun of him for quite a while after this.//

    Hahahahah!!

I'll bet that LGE is grateful that you are off his back for a while.

    Me?

    I am not that forgiving.

I have great expectations for LGE to show us that he is the one of the best state administrators in Malaysia, as I believe him to be.

I, for one, will be watching how he handles this emergency, and just as importantly, what he does AFTER the emergency.

I want to know the steps he will be taking to prevent a re-occurrence, I want to see the implementation of any new policies and I will be waiting for the next deluge to prove him right or wrong.

IF LGE succeeds in this humungous task, he can stand proud and tall - just for this one, OK? :)

Incidentally, I suspect that LGE will do everything to succeed because he has a point to prove - that DAP is good for Penang.

Hopefully, this emergency will make other states sit up and take notice - the monsoon season is nearly upon us and I expect there will be floods again as usual in the eastern states as it has been for the last 40-50 years, maybe more.

What can we expect to see next year?? In Penang?? In Kelantan?? In Terengganu??

Again, I apologise for any politics in the above :(

  10. anywhere i go or work, money triumphs everything. less moral more money.

hence every development every new housing area is done out of greed not necessity. seriously, just how many of us can afford 600k house ? those who can afford it is not majority.

this is happening in kl, perak and hell in perlis or kedah if theres enough demand for greed.

what we are seeing now is preview. flood is getting bad in kl, worst in penang. its gonna get worst. plus our policy is wait for something to happen. then menggelabah. we never once been proactive. to predict and curb the problem.

    it cant just be climate.

everywhere i go where theres green, will soon be replaced with concretes.

ive been seeing this for years.

blame the developers ? nope. blame the authorities ? nope. my guess is they are all in it together.

it all comes down to corruption ! im sick of these. they got the dirty money and live happily, us rakyat has to pay for the consequences

maybe like in german we need a grün Partei. no bullshit politics but just for the environment.

    //it cant just be climate.//

No, it is not the climate.

The flooding we see is a direct result of human activity.

More specifically, human activity which has made changes to the environment.

//blame the developers ? nope. blame the authorities ? nope. my guess is they are all in it together.//

Actually, I blame the authorities and the authorities alone.

We, the common folk, trust the authorities to manage the affairs of state for us and they have failed us.

I had originally thought that Penang authorities alone were to be blamed for the floods but to my surprised, flood mitigation seems to be under the federal government according to the following article.

    http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2017/11/06/837839/

So, why the f*&k is there still flooding if over RM1billion have been spent by the federal govt?

And why the f^%k is the Penang government approving building developments which overload flood mitigation efforts?

Don't the state govt and the federal govt talk to each other and ensure that they know what each other is doing?

As a layman, I don't really care if it is a DAP-led state govt and an UMNO-led federal govt, but isn't there any engineering data which clearly lay out what is what??

Is there any real flood mitigation work being done by the federal govt?

Does the state govt care whether the flood mitigation work is carried out to spec and can handle development and population growth in that state?

Somebody is taking us, the rakyat, for a ride.

I have my suspicions on who it is but I'll leave it to others to figure it out for themselves.

Please take into consideration why other states govts like Kelantan and Terengganu seem to suffer flooding every year.

    1. its all about money, be damned with the people. who cares if theres flood.

id still blame both sefes. when corruption happens both sides are guilty.

in a world where cash is king, this is how it is. corporate assassinations, illegal drugs tested in Africans region,

and in a local scale we witness this bullshit in penang, kl and other parts of msia.

we should brace ourself. disaster will be a common thing in msia. climate is changing, but with proper management we could do something about this.

But i said proper. and this is malaysia where corruption triumphs over everything else.

we used to be dignified, but no more.

    //what happen to the rm1.04 billion//

Well, according to the Natural Resources and Environment Minister, Wan Junaidi, the money has been spent in Penang.

    Where?

I guess Wan Junaidi is the best person to answer that as it seems to come under his ministry.

Digging longkangs is an expensive business you know...

Cangkuls with diamond-encrusted handles are not cheap, OK?

That was a donation from a Saudi prince... eeerrr.... sorry ...sorry.. wrong RM2.67billion.. sorry ..

Eeerrr... RM2.67billion??? ... hmmmmmm.... let me think ...

There was RM2.67billion paid to the fake Aabar BVI which nobody seems to be chasing up and trying to get back, then there was the RM2.67billion which the London arbitration said had to be paid to the REAL Aabar, then there is the penalty to be paid for missing out on the payments... no.. the penalty didn't come up to RM2.67billion ... or did it? ... I dunno.. I forgot...
