Down with the nonsense and love

Half way on my very long ride.

You will not believe it if I tell you where I am now.

So far, it was an eventful journey.

Got tyre problem at the start.

Quite troublesome.

Once the tyre was fixed, my bike was fine.

There were good moments and bad moments.

But I'm enjoying myself.

Was riding alone.

All in all, it was a smooth ride.

Lonely though.

But I enjoyed the solitude.

Woke up about 4am this morning.

Went for a walk about 6am.

Nice clear weather.

Feeling very relaxed.

Told myself, there's more to life than what I'm doing now.

The politics was truly tiring.

The rebels said I'm pro-Najib.

The pro-Najib said I'm a rebel.

They don't seem to have the depth to realise that there are people who can be objective about the whole thing.

Ah...just thinking of it makes me tired already.

Anyway, I have also decided that I will be alone for the rest of my life.

It's a liberating thought.

Why would I want a bastard messing up things for me.

I'm done with all that nonsense.

I actually made that decision while having a bath just now....hahaha.

Okay, I'm going to tour this place for the rest of the day.

Just going to walk around.

Will continue my ride early tomorrow morning.

Here's a bit of music for you all :-)

Questions before a long ride

This is a short one.

A friend called this morning and asked after reading my last posting,

Remembering how Najib became PM and Muhyiddin his deputy

whether I think TS Muhyiddin Yassin is the kingmaker of DS Najib Razak.

I replied, "No, Najib would still be PM with or without Muhyiddin."

"Why?" he asked again.

"Because Najib was in a better position than Muhyiddin to be PM at that time. Muhyiddin making a lot of noise against Pak Lah back then was not the deciding factor," I replied.

I also told my friend that I don't believe that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the one who decided who should be PM.

"It still boils down to who Umno wants.

"Najib was number two at that time. It's for the Umno divisions to decide who is to be the party president and PM. Najib had much better support than Muhyiddin as far as they are concerned till now.

"If there is a contest for the post in a party election, Najib would had won. I believe he will still win even now. It's as simple as that."

My friend then wanted to know what should Umno do now considering the so-called trust deficit suffered by Najib.

"Wait until the next party election which is after the next general election. That's because there's no way Najib going to give up power and there's no legitimate means to force him to do so for now. Hopefully Umno and BN will still be in power at that time. I don't see any other way," I replied.

Okay, I think that's clear enough.

I'm going on a long ride in a short while.

All geared up now.

I will write again when I get back.

Cheers.

Remembering how Najib became PM and Muhyiddin his deputy

There have been quite some discussions on how DS Najib Razak took over the premiership from Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

The debate was triggered by a statement by Umno deputy president TS Muhyiddin Yassin two days ago that,

I was Najib's kingmaker, and I don't regret it

I would therefore like to recall what I remember about the whole thing.

First there was that rebellion against Abdullah which started not long after Barisan Nasional's landslide victory in the 2004 general election.

Not unlike the current rebellion against Najib, former PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the anchor of those who wanted Abdullah to be replaced.

The main reason for the rebellion was unhappiness over the conduct of Abdullah and his people, especially the so-called "fourth floor boys" in managing the country.

Most of the current prominent bloggers are among the rebels back then.

The rebellion's ultimate effect was the dismal BN's performance in the March 2008 general election.

The ruling coalition lost Penang, Kedah, Perak, Selangor and most parliamentary seats in the Federal Territory while Kelantan remained in opposition's hand.

BN also suffered many loses in other states and it lost the two third majority in parliament.

Pressure from within Umno for Abdullah to step down mount right after the election.

Muhyiddin, who was known to be one of Abdullah's people before the election was very vocal from the start.

Najib on the other hand was more discreet.

I remember very well asking point blank a close aide of Najib who is my friend when his boss is going to make his move.

We were having a seafood dinner in Tanjung Lumpur, Kuantan at that time, just a week or two after the election.

He told me that it's not Najib's style to be abrasive in demanding a sitting premier to resign.

Things however came to a head at the first meeting between Abdullah and a state liaison committee after the election.

It was the Johor liaison committee and the date was April 11, 2008.

The rebels were very excited on that day.

This is the posting by Big Dog about the meeting;

PM 'Flip-Flop' Abdullah bertemu UMNO Johor hari ini

If you click on the link to the Big Dog's posting you will notice that the report was not focused on what transpired during the press conference held by Abdullah and  Johor Umno leaders after the meeting.

It's more on what Big Dog found out from his sources who were present during the meeting and news reports quoting Muhyiddin and individual Johor Umno leaders.

That's because the actual press conference did not mention anything about Johor Umno forcing Abdullah to step down.

Nonetheless, Big Dog's report was mostly correct.

The Johor Umno leaders actually did told Abdullah that the grassroots wanted him to step down and he needed to present them with a timetable of the transition plan.

The Johor Umno leaders, led by the then state liaison chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman however decided that what had been conveyed to Abdullah in the meeting should not be made public in order not to shame the party president who is also the prime minister.

It's adab Melayu (Malays' etiquette) not to humiliate a leader.

Thus the rather mundane press conference after the meeting.

This was reflected by what current Johor Umno liaison committee chairman DS Mohd Khaled Nordin told Bernama that night (Please refer to Big Dog's post).

Excerpts:

The most direct to the point statement which revealed that Abdullah needed to step down came from Muhyiddin, who called for a separate press conference after the meeting (Please refer to Big Dog's post).

Excerpts:

Muhyiddin was at that time hailed as a hero by those who wanted Abdullah to step down.

Unknown to many, Muhyiddin actually did not say anything during the meeting.

As reported by Big Dog, he was among the first to leave the meeting.

What had transpired at that meeting actually prompted Abdullah to ignore the urging of his people for him to hang on to power.

He had instead called for a meeting with national security chiefs throughout the country to get an honest feedback about sentiments on the ground.

The response that Abdullah got was that the majority of people, including those within Umno wanted him to step down.

Thus on July 10, 2008, Abdullah for the first time announced that he would step down by June the next year.

Nonetheless, the pressure for him to step down earlier than that deadline continues. The rebels simply can't wait for him to go.

An important incident happened in September that year.

It was Ramadhan and there was a breaking of fast function at the Saujana, the official residence of Johor menteri besar in JB.

I was present there that evening.

Najib was accompanied by his wife DS Rosmah Mansor to the function.

Muhyiddin was also there. I can't remember if his wife was present.

Muhyiddin was then the Minister of International Trade and Industry.

He was promoted to that portfolio from his previous post of Agriculture Minister by Abdullah, causing much distress to his predecessor TS Rafidah Aziz, who was reduced to be a backbencher in parliament.

It was said that Rafidah never forgive Abdullah for what happened.

Those who were present at the breaking of fast function had tea after they completed the prayers that evening.

It was then discussed on how to expedite the departure of Abdullah from the prime minister office.

The reason being that Umno and Barisan Nasional needed as much time as possible to heal their wounds from the disastrous  2008 general election.

It was felt that the longer Abdullah stays as PM, the more difficult it would be for BN to win the next general election.

A decision was then made for Najib and Muhyiddin to tag team in order to achieve the desired result.

It was said that Muhyiddin had accepted the fact that he should be the DPM and Najib the PM because he stands little chance to defeat Najib in a party election.

Najib's networking among the division leaders and grassroots support was stronger than Muhyiddin's.

The final agreement between Najib and Muhyiddin on their decision to tag-team in hastening Abdullah's departure was sealed onboard the plane taking them back to Kuala Lumpur after the breaking of fast function at Saujana that night.

Muhyiddin had hitched a ride on the plane used by Najib, who was then the deputy prime minister.

Present onboard the plane when the deal between the two was made was Najib's wife DS Rosmah Mansor.

If you don't believe what I wrote about the incident, please ask Rosmah, okay.

Anyway, the Najib-Muhyiddin tag-team went well and Abdullah stepped down as prime minister on April 3, 2009, almost two months before the actual deadline initially given by him.

Najib took over the premiership almost exactly a year after that fateful meeting between Abdullah and the Johor Umno liaison committee which prompted the fifth prime minister to make an honest assessment of his leadership for the good of the country.

Khaidir needs help

My friend in Kuantan forwarded me these screenshots of a Facebbook posting by former TV3 journalist Khaidir Ahmad. (Note: I'm not active in Facebook)

My friend had requested for me to highlight Khaidir's plight.

She's very sympathetic of him.

Khaidir is being sued by the Temerloh district authorities for protesting against sand dredging activities near his fish farm along Sungai Pahang.

He needed financial assistance to pay the over RM10,000 legal fees for the start of his defense.

Khaidir seems to be going through a bad spell of luck at the moment.

His fish farm was severely damaged in the big flood which hit the country end of last year.

His home in Temerloh was also badly damaged in the flood, causing losses of almost half a million ringgit.

I think he is quite desperate for help that he made the appeal on Facebook.

Khaidir was a good journalist.

He won the Kajai Award for his coverage of the Penan in the mid 1980s when he was the Berita Harian bureau chief in Sarawak. The award was still highly regarded among Malaysian journalists at that time as only the best among them could had won it.

Khaidir was also known for his coverage of environmental issues in Pahang in the mid 2000s, particularly about the illegal logging activities in the state, when he was the TV3 bureau chief there,

Queen's Gambit and prayers for a father and his daughter

Went on a day trip north with my father yesterday.

Visited my uncle, my father's youngest brother whom I mentioned in my previous post,

My uncle was fine.

It's been almost a year now since his ailment stablised.

He was cheerful and we spend over two hours chatting.

Normally, he could only spare half of that time with people.

It was nice.

My father and me brought him quite a lot of his favourite food which made him happy.

I even got him his favourite one footer Subway sandwich - turkey and chicken slices, with lots of salad, pickled olives, mayonnaise, chili and wholemeal bread.

He is the one who introduced me to Subway sandwiches.

Then there were also lots of fruits for him.

I told him about watching the movie Pawn Sacrifice

His eyes immediately lit up upon hearing the title of the movie.

"Ah! The Queen's Gambit," he remarked.

It's his favourite opening Chess move whenever he plays white against me.

He told me to get a CD of the movie because he wanted to watch it.

I think I will bring along a Chess set the next time I visit him.

Maybe we can play again. It's been many years since we last played.

Anyway, I was happy that my uncle is now well enough to talk with me about Chess again.

My father seemed to enjoy meeting his brother too.

He went through quite a lot of anguish when his brother was diagnosed with the ailment.

We went back to KL after the visit and it was raining all the way home.

The haze was thick too.

My father was the one at the wheel.

He doesn't trust my driving, saying that he's scared of my driving because I tend to speed.

He's always worried about me especially when I ride my motorcycle.

My father  is a careful driver and always drive within the speed limit.

I'm now trying to drive like him, but maybe I'm still not good enough.

The drive home would had been uneventful, except for one incident.

My father was overtaking a trailer at about 110 km per hour when a motorcycle overtook us from the left before it weaved to the right in front of us to overtake the trailer at the same time.

The motorcycle must had been going at almost 130 km per hour.

I managed to snap a picture,

Riding the bike was a man in his 40s and with him was a girl whom I believe to be his teenage daughter.

I saw them clearly as the bike was overtaking our car.

The bike is a kapchai (small underbone bike).

And it was raining, the haze was thick, the road surface was slippery....simply dangerous for a bike that small to go that fast.

At that moment after I took the picture, I made a little prayer or two in my heart....Allah, please let the father and daughter reach their destination safely....and Allah, please make the father realise that riding at such high speed and under such treacherous condition is very dangerous and that he will not do it again.

I sincerely hope they are safe.

Okay, I'm going out to do some shopping in a short while.

I'm leaving you all with the Queen's Gambit.

Cheers.

RM50 extra

Everyone seems to be writing about the Budget 2016.

Some even cut and paste the entire budget speech of PM DS Najib Razak....as if anyone wants to read the whole thing.

The newspapers are choked full of it.

So, I don't really feel the urge to write too much about it.

Suffice to say, that the budget was not too bad.

It's a budget any good government would formulate under the tough circumstances caused by the current global economic uncertainties.

I'm still not comfortable with BR1M though.

I wonder how long the government is going to keep on giving handouts like that.

Feel such practice a bit third world for Malaysia.

Nonetheless, I received this Wassap message from my friend in Kuantan yesterday,

"Elaun MH naik ye dr 150 to 200"

She was telling me that under Budget 2016, the monthly disability allowance given by the Welfare Department to her son (MH) who has autism was increased from RM150 to RM200.

Well, not so bad.

At least it's not BR1M.

My friend is the one I highlighted in this post,

Nasib penyokong marhaen Najib

Meanwhile, aside from the budget, there's this story by Bernama yesterday,

Police Probe Dr Mahathir's Remarks At Bersih 4 Rally - IGP

excerpts;

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar denied allegations by certain quarters the police did not investigate the former prime minister's remarks.

"The fact that we did not summon him (Dr Mahathir) does not mean there is no investigation. The investigation is underway and he will be summoned to give a statement when needed.

"We opened investigation papers after receiving police reports that he (Dr Mahathir) had said several UMNO members received incentives, and not for his involvement in the Bersih 4 rally," he said after closing a Master of Social Science (Police Studies) and Investigative Science Diploma course 2013/2014 here today.

He was commenting on a statement by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday, that the police had opened investigation papers on complaints lodged against Dr Mahathir.

Ahmad Zahid had said that of the three investigation papers opened, two involved ongoing investigations while another was referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further instruction.

I hope they have enough sense not to jail the 90-year-old statesman for whatever reasons.

Everything will be lost if they are so blinded by power and do that.

Another precious life lost on our roads

I actually have a little wish for the Budget 2016.

I hope the government will increase the allocation for road safety campaign.

If I was not mistaken, the Transport Ministry was given just RM2 million for it this year.

What can you do with that amount to create awareness on road safety for a whole year?

I just feel that it's not enough.

About 5,000 people had died on our roads so far this year.

Malaysia is among the countries with the highest number of traffic death per capita in the world.

Everyday, more people died....something I believe the government can do something about to mitigate or even prevent such tragedies.

I know, it's Allah will....but I also believe that Allah wants us to make the effort to do something about it.

Last night there was this sad story

TV3 Cameraman Dies In Freak Accident After Losing Control Of High Powered Motorcycle

KUANTAN, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- A TV3 cameraman was killed in a freak accident when he lost control of his high powered motorbike and crashed at KM156 of the Kuantan-bound East Coast Expressway at about 9pm, here Thursday night.

According to a police's spokesman, Nor Azman Jumahat, 41, or known as Man J among the media fraternity and his friends, died on the spot due to severe injuries.

"Police investigations revealed that the victim was riding his high powered motorcycle from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan when he lost control and hit the road divider.

"The victim from Binjai, Kemaman, Terengganu died on the spot due to severe head injuries, including a fractured hand and leg," he told Bernama, here.

Nor Azman was believed to be on his way to meet his family after work.

His body was later taken to the Jengka Hospital for post-mortem.

Additional information that I got,

- Nor Azman was riding alone rather late at night because he was earlier required to stay back in office to prepare for the coverage of the Budget 2016 today.

- He had told his friends that he missed his wife and son and wanted to see them despite the late hour.

- His wife is a teacher for special needs children at SK Bukit Sekilau and his 13-year-old son is a student of SMK  Panglima Perang, Indera Mahkota. They live in Indera Mahkota, Kuantan.

- It's Nur Azman's routine to ride home from KL every time he got the chance to visit his family.

- The exact time of the accident was 9.22pm.

- Nur Azman was riding a Ducati Streetfighter 850cc.

- He is known among friends to be a loving husband and father as well as a very dedicated journalist.

- Nur Azman was laid to rest in his hometown about 10am today.

May Allah bless his soul.

Alfatihah.

Not expecting anything spectacular

Tomorrow PM DS Najib Razak will table Budget 2016 in parliament.

Some speculated that there will be a boycott by several BN members of parliament to sabotage it.

It was said that together with the opposition MPs, they will try to scuttle the budget thus forcing the collapse of the government and the ouster of Najib.

I strongly doubt it will happen.

The same with the no confidence motion.

It's just a lot of hot air.

I don't think they really have the balls for it.

I believe it will be a mundane affair.

Even the budget itself will be boring, I think.

Seriously, Najib doesn't have that many cards to play around with this time as the economy is relatively not in a very good shape.

Things are currently tough not only just in Malaysia, okay.

I think Najib will have to make the budget plain and simple with the primary aim of not making things tougher for the rakyat.

Here is a report on how it will most likely going to be,

Budget 2016 likely to address Malaysians’ needs, yet realistic

If you go to that link and read the report, you will probably agree with me.

I don't think the budget is going to be sexy at all.

But it's okay. I'm not expecting much of it anyway.

Just going to take it one at a time.

Hopefully, it's not going to be as bad as it seems going to be.

Personally, as long as I still have my job, can pay the rent and bills, buy food, have a bit of entertainment  and save a little, I think I'll be alright.

Well, my mind is mostly elsewhere today.

Don't want to waste too much of its bandwidth on things I can't do anything about such as the budget.

Somehow, I was mostly dreaming of the time I was in Tokyo today.

Akihabara...I wish I can visit it again someday.

I like the place and someone told me something this morning which reminded me of it.

It's however too boring for me to write here.

Maybe some other time.

Okay, that's all for tonight. I need to sleep early.

Ciao.

On wearing tudung

Another very hazy day.

It's suffocating out there.

Well, the political scene is equally suffocating with the Umno civil war showing no sign of ending any time soon.

So, today, I decided to take a break from all those.

Just now I found this interesting post by prominent pro-establishment rebel blogger Syed Akbar Ali,

Jangan tokok-tambah ayat Quran (dedikasi buat saudari Nur)

I'm reproducing the entire post here because Syed Akbar normally takes down his postings after one or two days.

I hope he doesn't mind me doing so.

Here it is :

Please see the following translation :

Pleasr note the following which are not found in the original arabic :

1.   (daripada memandang yang haram) - this has been added

2.    menutup belahan leher bajunya dengan tudung kepala mereka  - this is not found in the original arabic

3.   atau perempuan-perempuan Islam  -  'perempuan Islam' is not mentioned in the verse either. This is an addition.

Going back to no. 2.    menutup belahan leher bajunya dengan tudung kepala mereka

the arabic sounds like this :

walyadribna - and strike
bikhumuurihinna - with their covers
alaa juyuubihinna - over their bosoms

There is absolutely no mention of kepala or tudung kepala here. A khumur is just a cover, an outside garment, an overcoat, a dress etc.

There is absolutely no mention of kepala. This is a favorite of the people who like to extrapolate, extend, stretch and tokok tambah the meaning of the Quran by adding words like 'kepala' where it does not exist.

Anyway here is my favorite question about the hijab, because that is what they are actually referring here.

There are seven verses in the Quran which mention the word HIJAAB.

Here are all the seven verses  where the word HIJAAB are mentioned :

1. Surah 7:46
2. Surah 17:45
3. Surah 19:17
4. Surah 33:53
5. Surah 38:32
6. Surah 41:5
7. Surah 42:51

The soalan cepumas is how come they do not refer even one of these verses from the Quran when they talk about HIJAB ?

Kenapa  para agamawan tidak merujuk satu pun daripada TUJUH ayat Quran yang menyebut HIJAB, seperti disenaraikan di atas?
It's interesting to me because Syed Akbar was arguing that Muslim women are not actually required by Allah to cover their head.

Someone actually recited that particular Quranic verse to me just the other day to justify the argument that Allah wants Muslim women to cover their head.

Those who refused will be thrown into hell, I was told.

Most Islamic religious scholars supported that assertion.

Even though I don't cover my head myself, I never argue with them as I have been told since young that I must respect those with more knowledge of Islam.

In a way, I just accepted it that I'm not a really good muslim because I don't follow such an instruction.

I'm not covering my head simply because I don't feel like doing so.

I'm not comfortable with it.

The only time I'm covering my head is with a full-face helmet.

I don't think I'm doing harm to anybody by choosing not to cover my head with a tudung or hijab or whatever.

I'm hoping that Allah will forgive me for it in the afterlife if I manage to do a lot of good things in this world.

Then there are people like Syed Akbar who thinks that it's not wrong at all for Muslim women not to cover their head.

If he is right, it's much better for me.

But a lot of Muslims out there may most likely disagree with Syed Akbar.

People like him could even be considered as heretics by the mainstream Muslims.

I have to admit that my religious knowledge is very limited.

So, I rather not argue on it.

I will instead just pray that Allah will be merciful and forgiving to a sinner like myself.

Anyway, another person who was trying to convince me that it's better as a Muslim to cover one's head showed me the latest catalogue of the AIDIJUMA tudung collection.

They are nice....but I don't think I will be wearing them anytime soon.

Very big important news

Big news.

MIC Wanita chief Mohana Muniyandi had whacked former PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

This is the report by Rakyat Post (I highlighted the important bits):

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17, 2015:: MIC national Wanita chief Mohana Muniandy has called former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad a desperate man with his attempts to oust Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
She said Najib has been rectifying the mistakes of Dr Mahathir who as Prime Minister marginalised the welfare of the Indians.
“I urge Dr Mahathir to stop the bickering and becoming a hindrance in Najib’s efforts of uplifting the Indian community in Malaysia.
“We Indians are just seeing some light by benefiting from the Barisan Nasional government. So I strongly urge Dr Mahathir to stop being a stumbling block in spoiling our chances in doing so.
“Let us Indians move forward and stand tall among all races in Malaysia,” she said in a press statement.
She said there was not one day that Dr Mahathir did not criticise Najib.
“It is so frequent that one will be able to see the desperation or rather obsession of Dr Mahathir in achieving his goal to somehow oust our Prime Minister.
“There is no other Prime Minister who has undertaken so tremendous amount of efforts for the betterment of the Indian community than Najib. He has done more in six years than what Dr Mahathir had done for the Indians in 23 years.”
Mohana went on to point out that it was under Najib that RM660 million was allocated to transform Tamil schools, apart from setting aside two ministerial positions in the Cabinet to represent the Indian community.
Najib, she added, also allocated RM2 billion Amanah Saham Satu Malaysia shares for the Indians and  formed a secretariat for Indian empowerment, as well as a special committee in the Cabinet to look after the welfare and affairs of the Indians in Malaysia.
“No other Prime Minister other than Najib has initiated such moves.”
Meanwhile, Bernama also reported another big news,
Well, I'm sure the Indian community will go all out to vote for BN in the next general election if these MIC people get their wishes.
If I'm not mistaken, only 40 per cent of Indian voters voted for BN in the last general election.
Well, this time I think it should be 99 per cent if MIC people are empowered properly.
Just for the record, I think the per capita income of Malaysian Indian households is better than that of the bumiputera.

The more important things

Someone told me not to hate the people who did me wrong.

She said the hate will destroy me.

She said revenge is not going to do me any good.

I disagree.

I'm of the opinion that those who do bad things deserve to be whacked.

They are telling us to forgive and forget because they want to get away with what they have done.

The hate keeps me going, okay.

It gives me a sense of purpose.

They are not going to get away with what they did to me.

Yeah, they think they are so powerful and untouchable now.

But when the time comes, they will cry tears of blood.

I will not forgive or forget.

The stupid arrogant prick.

The scheming little bastard.

The spineless boot lickers.

I remember them all and I will make them pay for what they did to me.

That's for sure.

I will be merciless.

I will destroy them all.

How's that for being dark.....hahaha.

See, there are more important things in my life than defending DS Najib Razak or trying to topple him.

I need to save my energy to settle my personal stuff first, okay.

If there are any extra, only then I'll spend it on the other nonsense.

Okay, my eyes hurting again.

Can't write too long for now.

Need to fix them first.

Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Peace.

Bassist in her room

Going off on a long night ride in a short while.
Taking a bit of a break and fixing my eyes somewhere quite far away.
So difficult to see these past weeks.
Quite painful too.

I leave you all with this awesome bassist. Take care.

For the girl who plays bass and the boy who sings Green Day

I got a few things I'm tempted to write.....such as about someone who demanded RM30 million of what I think should be rakyat's money and he got it without even lifting a finger....all legally okay but of course morally wrong.

Or about another guy who has 15 young secretaries driving expensive cars and living luxurious lifestyle doing I don't know what.

But I told myself, why should I do that...it's not going to change anything.

The most it will be, they just shrug and carry on as usual.

Or they may even hunt me down and throw me in jail for being such a busybody.

Well, you all know lah these days.....

I'm definitely not going to sacrifice myself for anything anymore.

If anyone think I'm being selfish and cowardly....well, go ahead, I don't really care.

I think I have already taken quite a bit of risks and made some crazy sacrifices writing this blog.

It's kinda stupid actually.

If anything happens to me, I doubt anyone will help me....except maybe my blogging captain Rocky.

Well, enough lah me being stupid for now....maybe later.

For the time being, before falling asleep, I'm putting this video clip for the pretty girl who plays bass and the cute boy who sings Green Day songs;

Well, that's nicer than all the political nonsense, or immorally greedy big people or weakling in position of power, etc.

Good night.

Let's give the good minister a chance

Of all the current Cabinet ministers, I feel that the most credible of the lot is DS Abdul Wahid Omar.

The guy is not really a politician, thus likely he doesn't sells too much bullshit or any at all.

I met him a few times and he seemed genuinely a good guy.

So, I think when he quit his Maybank job to serve in the Cabinet, it was really a national service kind of thing instead of just another opportunist making a move to enrich himself by being close to the powers that be.

Hey, there are still good people who do that, okay.

Anyway, there's these stories about Wahid last night.

excerpts:

Wahid said accusations of him and several ministers including International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed “selling the country” were circulating  in “WhatsApp” chat groups.
“We have no other agenda than to have the best for the country and the people. I believe Tok Pa (Mustapa) and his MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) team have been relentless in obtaining a desirable outcome for the country from the TPPA,” he said in a WhatsApp message to The Mole.
“It is a norm that whenever agreements are being negotiated those involved would want the agreement to suit the interest of their respective parties.
“Every country involved in TPPA’s negotiation wants the agreement to benefit their respective country but through such process we have reached a consensus that brings mutual benefits to everyone,” Wahid said.
He added that the TPPA that has been concluded in Atlanta on Oct 5 has been greatly amended from its previous form.
In fact, Wahid said that several of Malaysia’s national policies have been recognised in the TPPA, including those on bumiputera inclusiveness, government procurement, investor state dispute settlement  and intellectual properties.
He also clarified that the agreement is now undergoing a legal scrubbing process before it can be released for public perusal.
“Everything will be tabled in Parliament and the agreement will only be signed after the house has reached a collective agreement.
“Therefore, instead of forwarding unofficial and dubious information regarding TPPA, it is best for everyone to wait until the official facts are presented,” Wahid said.

 excerpts;

“The prime minister had issued a statement before this saying that the issues related to 1MDB will be resolved in six months, meaning by the end of this year,” said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar last night.
It was emphasised again when the government took proactive measures recently, such as selling some of 1MDB’s assets and using the proceeds to pay and reduce the debt level, said Wahid.
“This process will be carried out in a market-friendly and transparent manner,” he said on TV3’s Question-Answer programme on the national economy.
It sure looks like Wahid was sincere when he said Tok Pa and himself having done their best for the country when they negotiated the TPPA.

I don't see how someone like Wahid and Tok Pa of all people wanted to betray the country.

I do think that we need to wait and see what are the stuff to be presented to parliament about the TPPA before condemning people as traitors and such.

Let's not shoot before even knowing the targets, okay.

As for 1MDB issues to be resolved within the next two months, I hope Wahid is right.

Again, I don't see why someone like Wahid wanted to bluff us all.

Okay, let's wait....it's just two months what.

If the mess are not cleared by new year 2016, then, okay go and whack the government la....and Wahid along with it.

Fair?

Congrats, good prince

This is a happy story for a change from all those gloomy news of late.

Congratulations to Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim.

Tunku Laksamana Johor Made Police Inspector

JOHOR BAHARU, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim, the son of the Sultan of Johor, was today made police inspector in a simple ceremony held at Istana Bukit Serene here today.

The pinning-the-rank ceremony for the Tunku Laksamana Johor was conducted by the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

Also present at the ceremony were the Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and wife, Che' Puan Khaleeda Bustamam, as well as other members of the royal family.

Bukit Aman's Police Director of Management, Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah and Director of Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff also attended the ceremony.

Tunku Abdul Jalil told reporters after the ceremony that he was grateful and happy with the rank and thankful to all members of the Royal Malaysian Police Force.

"I went through police training four years ago and today, I have been made inspector.

"I will take other suitable courses in the future, either in Johor or anywhere else I am assigned to," said Tunku Abdul Jalil who had previously taken part in the Probationary Inspector training courses at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol), Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, Khalid said with the rank, Tunku Abdul Jalil now held the post of the Royal Chief of Staff of the Johor Palace, effective today.

He said Tunku Abdul Jalil would bear the combined responsibility of palace security official and the Johor Military Force in ensuring palace security.

He said Tunku Abdul Jalil would be called to attend other courses in the future to increase his knowledge of policing, including administration and investigations.

Tunku Jalil is my favourite Johor prince.

A genuinely humble and decent guy.

He has always wanted to be a police officer and now he got his wish.

Alhamdulillah.

May Allah grant Tunku Jalil happiness and good health, always.

These are my previous posts on the good prince about a year ago ;

A good prince

My ex's recommendations - sad story of Orang Asli kids and Zeti

My ex doesn't read my blog anymore.

He stopped reading it after he decided that he was in love with someone else.

Quite understandable.

But he still occassionally asked me to write something which he felt to be important.

It's nice to receive such requests from him even though I'm not sure whether he read what I posted later on.

They lessen the pain of missing him a bit...

Well, these are some good stuff that he wassap me early this morning. I don't really feel like writing about them as I'm having one of those difficult PMS thing today. So, you all can check them out for yourself ya;

1. This is a Facebook posting. I'm not really on Facebook but my ex is quite active there. The lady whose posting he forwarded to me seems to have a point,

He also recommended the link to this Malaysian Insider article:

On the missing 7 Orang Asli children

I find the article to be quite good.

My ex said lots of people are sick and tired of politics as they feel that too much attention has been taken away from the real things that matter because of it.

I agree.

Unfortunately, many readers of this blog seem to think otherwise.

Like it or not, the mess which is currently going on is still the hot topic of discussion for them.

2. This is another link to a good article which my ex recommended to me via wassap this morning,

Zeti tries to rise above Malaysia's creeping crisis

And these are bits of the Euromoney article;

Zeti in her own words

Over the course of her Euromoney interview, Zeti Akhtar Aziz touched on many subjects other than the current crisis afflicting Malaysia:

On her successor: "The governor is appointed by the king on the recommendation of the finance minister [PM Najib]. I hope the successor will be from within the bank. My three deputies have grown up in the bank too. They know the bank, they are very driven and they are very capable. I don’t know [who will be my successor], I cannot predict the future.

On the slumping ringgit: "We should not step backward and peg the exchange rate in these times. You want the flexibility to adjust." "Our economy is more diversified than what is perceived by the market. We are less dependent on commodities. The market doesn’t appreciate this. The currency does not reflect our fundamentals."

On her most recent triumph: "We signed the agreement for an integrated banking framework [in Asean] recently and that was so challenging. It took five years to get there and I’m glad it got done while I’m still here."

On the slowdown in global emerging markets:  "Growth is moderating in the emerging world but there is still growth. Asia remains an important growth centre in the world economy, so to highlight a very adverse economic outlook is not correct. Greater Asia, and Asean in particular, is showing good growth of 4% to 6%. We are not really facing major economic vulnerabilities."

On China’s economy:  "I am not alarmed by the development there. Yes, they are slowing down, but to more sustainable levels. To me, this is a period of transition for China…so as not to be destabilizing to the region. Their handling [of the slowdown] has been sound, it has had some costs, some pain has to be endured but over the medium term, it will make their growth more sustainable. They have the fiscal space to do it. The stock market is not everything. China needs to encourage stronger consumption demand. They have over-investment now."

On the global financial architecture:  "I would like to see more emerging market representation (at the IMF and World Bank). They are trying very hard to achieve better representation of the global economy given that its configuration has changed so drastically but there’s very slow progress on that. I would also like to see these agencies take a greater role during global financial crises. There’s no other international agencies that can have their role. They need to exercise and perform their role."

Muhyiddin-Shafie boost for the Umno rebellion

The Umno civil war has entered a new phase with Umno deputy president TS Muhyiddin Yassin and vice-president DS Shafie Apdal openly joining the rebellion against party president DS Najib Razak.

The duo were today with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at a Press conference at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya.

Also at the PC were Umno veterans Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and TS Sanusi Junid as well as former MCA strongman DS Ong Tee Kiat.

The PC was about former Umno branch leader Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan and his lawyer Matthias Chang being charged under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) for economic sabotage, but the presence of Muhyiddin and Shafie there was more significant as it marked an outright escalation of the rebellion against Najib.

Both Muhyiddin and Shafie were stripped of their ministerial posts in a recent Cabinet reshuffle.

It was a known fact that the duo were removed from Cabinet because they have voiced their disagreement with the way Najib was handling things, particularly concerning the 1MDB issue.

Muhyiddin and Shafie however still hold their party posts.

The way I see it, both are now going for broke.

They knew that they got nothing much to lose.

As it is now, Muhyiddin and Shafie were being isolated more than ever after they no longer hold any position in the government and their roles in the party being gradually reduced.

They knew that Najib will eventually remove them altogether later on.

Najib was expected to do so when the situation becomes more stable and the duo are no longer in the position to influence members to support them following their diminishing roles in Umno.

Now, with the duo openly opposing him by being on the same platform as Dr Mahathir, I believe Najib can't afford to wait anymore.

He has to sack them right away.

Otherwise, it will be very difficult for him to manoeuvre as the party president, especially with the Umno general assembly just being a few weeks away.

I just can't imagine how it's going to be if Muhyiddin and Shafie are still there.

They will definitely attack Najib in their speeches which they will deliver in their capacity as deputy president and vice-president respectively.

On the other hand, sacking the duo from the party may also be bad for Umno.

The split among party members will worsen and Umno may not be able to recover in time for the next general election, scheduled just over two years from now.

Bass better than BF

It's Saturday night and I'm bored.

Miss my ex.

He's probably having fun now with his new GF.

Bastard.

Well, never mind.

Don't feel like writing about politics at the moment.

It's depressing.

Anyway, today I bought a bass guitar for a girl.

It's a Fender.

Happy to make the girl happy.

She always wanted a bass guitar.

I'm glad that she choose music over other nonsense....such as boyfriends.

Boyfriends almost always turned out to be bastards.

Well, here's a bit of music for the night,

I hope the girl can play like that one day.

That's all for now.

Trying to sleep.

Good night.

Zeti is cute when she's angry

First, there was the statement by the Malay Rulers calling for thorough and speedy investigation of the 1MDB issue which they felt had caused a crisis of confidence in the country.

The Rulers' actual Press release on 1MDB

The statement was made after the pre-council meeting of the Rulers' Conference.

I had checked and was told that the pre-council meeting is actually exclusively attended by the nine Malay Rulers or their direct representatives and no one else.

In this case, they are the Rulers of Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.

It's a real band of brothers kind of stuff.

Not even the governors of Penang, Malacca, Sarawak and Sabah were invited,

There were also no PM and menteri besar.

In fact, a senior palace official told me that the pre-council meeting is more important than the actual Rulers' conference because in that meeting, the Rulers can express themselves more freely with each other as there are no outsiders monitoring the whole thing.

So, that rare statement issued after the pre-council meeting genuinely represents the wishes of the Rulers and not a case of it being hijacked or other kind of bullshit as suggested by some.

In reply to that, the Attorney General Chamber issued this statement,

“There Was No Offence Committed By The 1MDB Officials”

The way I read it, the AGC or to be more precise AG TS Mohamad Apandi Ali was telling the Rulers that the 1MDB issue had been investigated and he found nothing wrong with it.

The AG also seemed to say that the investigation by Bank Negara, the only one concluded so far (the other being that of the police and MACC) had been carried out poorly.

The AGC had rejected the Bank Negara's recommendation for it to take action against those who created the mess at 1MDB, triggering the whole crisis. The AGC also turned down an appeal by Bank Negara on the matter.

The AG basically said if there is anyone to blame for a less than convincing performance in the 1MDB saga, then it should be Bank Negara for carrying out a sloppy investigation.

Imagine that, Apandi telling the highly respected Bank Negara governor TS Zeti Akhtar Aziz that she's sloppy.

Of course the cute lady reacted.

Thus this statement yesterday,

BANK NEGARA - Statement on 1MDB

It's basically a slap in the face of the AGC.

The delivery of the slap was so deliberate and calculated that it's even painful just to watch it landed on the intended target.

I think Zeti just don't give a shit anymore.

They had tried all sorts of dirty tricks on her these past months and she had kept quiet.

She and her team just did their job.

For context, please read my previous posting;

The credible figure that is Zeti

The attacks on Zeti have continue till today.

This time I think they have pushed her too far, thus her fightback

I'm expecting her to be replaced soon.

I can't imagine how it's going to be if they let her finishes her tenure as Bank Negara governor till end of next year.

How they are going to do it is another difficult question.

They cannot just sack her because it will further erode not only Malaysians' confidence in the government but also the international community as Zeti is highly regarded around the world.

My bet is that they will make her situation very difficult that she will have no choice but to quit herself.

That's the SOP these days if they want to get rid of someone whose work is good and the person is highly principled and respected,

It will be a sad day when Zeti has to leave that way or any other way.
