Johor Umno Convention...as it is

Earlier today I called a journalist friend who was covering the Johor Umno convention in JB to find out how things were over there.

He sent me this picture:

"Tu masa Khaled tengah berucap masa nak tutup convention. Engko tengok je la berapa perwakilan yang tinggal. Dari situ engko agak la sendiri macam mana konvensyen tu," he said.

"Tak kan segitu je yang hadir. Kan semalam ramai orang masa Najib bukak konvensyen tu? Paper pun kata ada 800 perwakilan. Lepas tu ada pemerhati lagi," I retorted.

"Eleh, semalam ya la ada PM. Semua nak tunjuk muka le tu," he replied.

"Habis tu usul ke apa ke macam mana?" I asked again.

"Dia orang buat workshop je la. Semua tertutup. Aku pun tak tau nak tulis apa. Cuma buat story press conference je la," he replied.

"Engko tak interview perwakilan ke?" I probed again.

"Interview juga, tapi lebih banyak negetif dari positif. Lepas tu banyak cakap retorik yang sama je. Malas lah aku nak tulis," he said.

"La, tulis je la. Orang nak tau. Ini konvensyen Umno Johor le. Bukan main-main. Johor ni tiang seri Umno," I provoked him further.

"Tiang seri apa kebendanye ? Ni dah setahun lebih lepas PRU, apa yang dia orang dah buat? Najib pun semalam dah sound, kalau dia orang tak faham juga aku pun tak tau nak kata apa," he said referring to this report:

Johor Umno Told To Conduct Reality Checks

Well, what else can I say.....they didn't even answer this question,

Bolehkah Umno Johor lepas tangan?

  1. Sejahtera ke atas Annie,

Biar betul ni... macam tak percaya. Mana perwakilan lain?
Nampak dah macam mesyuarat kelab basikal roda tiga...
    UMNO dah tak relevan ke?
    Atau perwakilan pun dah malas?
Atau orang UMNO dah tak ambik port lagi?
    Atau tak cukup duit masuk?

This is UMNO Johor man... how could it lead to this???? Kalau UMNO Johor macam ni.. nampak sangat PRU akan datang bendera Johor boleh turun & digantikan dgn bendera Singapura & DAP.

We are indeed on the verge of collapse.. as a nation & as a people

Kesian anak saya bila dah besar nanti..

Najib told Johor UMNO to conduct reality check??
Did he even bother to check his own?? Dia pun sama pening la... hari-hari kepala pusing. Tak tau mana kepala mana ekor. Liberal my foot.

Askar rampas kuasa.

Pendatang berhijrah berduyun duyun, tak lagi jadi majoriti, di PRU tak lama dulu parti tempatan menang, Askar serah balik kuasa.

    3. Memang, liberal my foot. Pada saya, liberal my ass.

Mengarut. Mengarut besar.

Bukan saja kepala pusing - sudah bingong, jadi tongong.

Takkan takda Kenyataan Akhbar pun?

Kalau takda press statement pun, dah teruk betul lah UMNO Johor. Ahmad Maslan, Pegawai Penerangan UMNO Pusat pun diam juga ke?

Asyik semua tertutup, kot kot nanti UMNO tutup!

  3. Najib said the purpose of the reality checks is to "reverse the declining support for the party in the state."

Very alarming, "Over the last three general elections, the support for Umno and Barisan Nasional in Johor has declined from 81 per cent in 2004 to 63 per cent in 2008 to 54 per cent last year."

But is it just division chiefs and others "put(ting) their personal interests above the needs of the party"? Can those in the know give specific examples of those "personal interests" being placed above party interests? Is he referring to those involved in Iskandar, Dangar Bay, Forest City etc?

If so, why doesn't he take any whipping action, like Tun Dr Mahathir would have done - change a few division people, in ways I'm sure TDM knows. Is it because Najib himself does not have real clout over Johore UMNO. Don't have people who are extremely loyal to him and could do the influencing to get changes in the Division?

Or is it because most of the Divisions are fed up with him on removing ISA, wanting to remove the Sedition Act that would threaten Malay rights and interests? And he has no bola over the pasir matter. After all politik bola is uppermost in importance in Johor.

Sorry folks, I have only questions, no answers. I'd appreciate anyone knowing the answers to my questions to weigh in.

  4. Najib also reminded party leaders not to block the activism of young professionals in the party. I believe the above does occur, for, after all, the boss man himself said it.

But I don't know of specific examples of that. It'd be very interesting to know a few examples. May even help those who might be in a position to change the situation from outside. Talking to those people concerned through mutual friends or relatives.

Najib said, "The party must be open to new talents and existing leaders must be willing to sacrifice their positions if needed." Yes, indeed, this is the crux of the matter. It must include himself. The buck stops at him.

The Malay gentleman Managing Director of the LRT company resigned straight away when an accident involving 3 deaths occurred during his watch. Though there were 2-3 others below him directly responsible for the mishap, like the the Project Director, the Supervising Engineer. Don't we have anyone in politics like that?

    1. Love of Rosmah, follow her wishes endlessly.

Going personal? No. Rosmah is politics. Look at the amount of Pakatoon hate propaganda against Rosmah and she had the cheek to say, not being able to get at Najib, people go for her. Thereby pointing to so much criticism against the supposedly beloved husband.

Never before has a PM's wife tried to interfere or push herself into the running of the country. Asking for a complement of staff at the PMO, proud to be referred to as the First Lady. Yet Obama's First Lady hardly officiated social functions even.

Jahanam UMNO if Najib is not replaced as PM. Not just him, Rosmah has also been the problem. Wanting to head 1 this 1 that. She simply doesn't know her place as a PM's wife. She probably wants to stand as an UMNO candidate at PRU14. And be appointed a Minister. And Najib appears powerless with her.

  5. The Bernama repprt said Khaled pledged that Johor Umno will strive to gain support and aims for Barisan Nasional to win all electoral seats in the state for the next general elections.

There you go. Is that a realistic aim? "win all electoral seats in the state for the next general elections"? So much wishy washy that it doesn't reflect the man is walking with his feet on the ground. Walking in thin air. Or walking in 54% air - that's the percentage of votes BN had at the last elections, said by no less than Najib himself.

Kamon, man, Khaled. Be realistic lah. Talk unbelievably, how can UMNO Johor believe you. How can you inspire confidence? Could that be the reason why many left the Convention early and the picture in Annie's post showing scant attendance. If so, UMNO should replace Khaled also.

Replace Najib by Muhyiddin and let Muhyiddin choose Khaled's replacement. Muhyiddin should know better than Najib as he was MB Johor and UMNO Liaison Chief for many years.

Yes, replace Najib and let Muhyiddin chose Khalid's replacement.

  6. The convention was for the purpose of "giving party members the opportunity to voice their opinions and ideas to strengthen the party." It must be a case of some pretty strong and non-mainstream opinions there. The organizers must have anticipated that and turned it into work shops and closed sessions.

Kamon UMNO Johor. Even DAP Selangor convention some years ago got Ronnie Liu, then DAP Selangor Chief, telling (was it leaking to?) the press about money politics in the party elections and he lost the post to Teresa Kok. Lim Kit Siang and Tokong Lim were fuming at Ronnie Liu, now an outcast in DAP.

Give us some Ronnie Liu kind of leaks lah. E.g on the approvals for those stupid and grandiose projects like Forest City with 300,000 expensive units meant for PRC Chinese that will harm UMNO interests. Once the voters know who are the real culprits, they may not look at UMNO so badly as they do now.

  7. RAYUAN KAPADA YAB TUN DR MAHATHIR

Wahai Tun, tolong lah.

Punca nya ia lah pendirian nya. Liberal konon nya.

Mana dia DS Najib memajukan kepentingan Melayu bila dia mengnepikan DEB, meletakkan nya di "back burner", saperti Tun kata.

Kami amat sangat berharap kapada Tun.

    1. Here is solid legal reasoning for Najib not to discard the Sedition Act -

SEDITION ACT REPEAL REQUIRES CONSENT OF MALAY RULERS –
MALAY CONSULTATIVE COUNCIL (MPM) - Bernama

MPM Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, a lawyer and former MAS MD, said the act was relevant in maintaining security, harmony and national unity. Tun Hanif, also qualified as a lawyer and a former IGP, is an Adviser to the MPM.

He said, without the Act, certain parties would rile up sensitive issues with regard to the royal institution, rights and privileges of indigenous people as well as freedom of expression. This may cause ill feelings and racial instability.

“The question of sensitive issues were considered as one of the major causes of the May 13, 1969 riot. It was therefore decided to prohibit the questioning of any of the four sensitive issues,” he said.

“Many people talk about repealing the Sedition Act but none of them talked about Article 159 (5).

      Here are the actual wordings:

      Amendment of the Constitution

      159. (1) Subject to the following provisions of this Article and to Article 161E the provisions of this Constitution may be amended by federal law:

      159. (5) A law making an amendment to Clause (4) of Article 10, any law passed thereunder, the provisions of Part III, Article 38, 63(4), 70, 71(1), 72(4), 152, or 153 or to this Clause shall not be passed without the consent of the Conference of Rulers.

“The issue is therefore whether it is wise to debate and argue about the repeal of the Sedition Act when the Conference of Rulers has not been consulted.

(Note that "amendment" includes repeal. Article 161E refers to Safeguards for constitutional position of States of Sabah and Sarawak).

    2. The Ant views are obviously out-dated by being away so long and not keeping abreast with the development in Malaysia on the number of universities now available, a few owned by the pendatang, ample university places for the pendatang and scholarships given to the high-achiever pendatang.

Saying "If you are non-Malay and you are angry at being denied opportunities like jobs, scholarships or places at university, some Malays will sympathise with you but a few Malays will disagree" is shit. Not "some Malays" but a whole lot of Malays disagree, for reasons stated in the first paragraph above.

Written by one Mariam Mokhtar whose photo tends to justify the Shakespearean words "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" (maybe by the boyfriend), she said, "It has been a well-kept secret that Malays, who cannot tolerate the growing injustice and oppression, have emigrated." Yes, the ones who cannot get exactly what they want, including a handsome and rich boyfriend maybe.

Talking about a brain-drain, does she not realize that Malaysia has been doing fine without the likes of her, Najib politicized the issue and tried to so-called bring back such "brain" fellas just for the PRU13 election gimmick.

    3. And hell of a shit said by the must-be frustrated, dark-looking woman saying "Ordinary Malays are not privileged and are among the worst treated community in Malaysia." Who on earth average Malay are treated like that? There must be something awfully wrong with her looks or skin colour to be saying those. Me racist? No. Just pointing out that the usual Malay doesn't feel that.

There you go again. Saying the Malays don’t even have the freedom to choose their own friends. She must be fed up with her own family but takes it up on the entire Malay race. How stupid can that be.

Yes, yes, she must have wanted to marry a Taliban or something and the parents disallowed her and she scrammed overseas now saying "Despite the Constitution, the Malays in Malaysia do not have the freedom of religion. The only people who suffer more .. are the ordinary Malay women."

Obviously, like the bit..y Marina Mahathir, she has no clue on Article 3 of the Constitution and the laws enacted pursuant to that. Saying Malays have freedom to choose religion-wise, my foot. She should have married a Taliban.

Good that she has out-casted herself by living abroad.

More of what she said is shittable, but not sure if it's worth dealing with this kind of miserable ant.

She has no clue about Ketuanan Melayu - that which is reflected in the Articles of the Constitution pertaining to Constitutional Monarchy, the roles, functions and responsibilities of the YDP Agong, the Malay Rulers, the Rulers Council, etc.

The silly woman says the NEP is wrong because the government does not acknowledge that not all non-Malays are rich and successful. Again, because of being away a long time, she does not even know or realize that the Chinese have been the richest community in the country for decades, have so many exclusive clan and sub-clan associations and trade guilds to help the less fortunate among them.

UTAR even refused RM30 million donation for scholarships etc from a Chinese engineer millionaire 1-2 years ago, Robert Kuok just announced in Kajang a few months ago of his being twin-footed (one in China) and donated RM100 million to a Chinese university.

Yet a Chinese man I know has two of his daughters studying abroad on Federal government scholarships, one doing chemical engineering in France, both got straight As in SPM.

What the heck this "blind" and unthinking Mariam woman.

    6. The world must know that Malays are GENETICALLY WEAK, and therefore NEED NEP.

NEP is an effective cure, as shown by some who have achieved world standards.

However, the majority of Malays are still backward. So more time is needed.

The US especially must understand this point, and not force the TPPA down our throat.

Without NEP, Malays as a whole simply CANNOT compete.

NEP should last until the Malays are nurtured sufficiently to be able to STAND PROUD in the world.

It must also be known that NEP means that we have to allow the non-Bumis to stay, so that their productive efforts could subsidise the Malays. In short, work in the interest of the Malays.

Take the 15% Bumi discount for houses in Johor for example. If there are no non-Bumis to buy at higher prices, Malays wont' be able to enjoy the discount. For a RM1 million property, the saving is RM150,000.

    7. Anonymous16 November 2014 13:45 saying the "Malays are GENETICALLY WEAK" in capital letters suggests it's written by an ungrateful ingrate Cina Bukit pendatang DAP, or the likes of them, biadap and kurang ajar like Tokong Limmy.

Could be the same bastard as Anonymous16 November 2014 10:23 who tried to deride the NEP and provided the link to that Ant woman.

Notwithstanding his/ her praise that some Malays have achieved world standards, the fact that he said NEP is an effective "cure" shows the nasty thought the bastard or bitch has of the Malays.

He/ she must be shitted, the mouth filled with cow dung and pig shit as is being done now. He/ she probably is the kind who, as a child, was left by the parents by the pig sty when working in the fields, and the child roamed the sty, picking up pig shit and swallowing it, hence whatever comes out of the mouth now smells like hell.

      Delete
    8. Having shitted the bastard into his/her mouth, more will come, and at the same time explanations to disabuse the bastard's abuse, and clarifications that will help the world know the lowly creatures the Cina Bukii pendatang DAP are made of.

They are totally ungrateful ingrates having got citizenship that was agreed to by the Malays at Independence but not even respecting the quid pro quo, namely respecting the Special Position of the Malays and the Bumiputeras of Sabah and Sarawak that was enshrined in the Constitution of the country and from which the NEP was derived.

      Delete
    9. The majority of Malays are still backward, said he/ she. How many are is arguable but his statement that more time is needed is also shittable.

Since citizenship right for the pendatang is permanent and, since the Special Position of the Malays and the Bumiputeras of Sabah and Sarawak (from which the NEP is derived) is the quid pro quo, why should it not be also permanent? Is iit no logic that it be so? Especially when the citizenship right was given FOC.

Therefore, the issue of time or how long should NEP be does not arise. It should be for as long as the citizenship right exists. Plain, simple logic.

No matter the US and TPPA. We insist on NEP and explain endlessly to the US until they accept our stand. We can point out that the have "draconian" policies as well, e.g ISA-like detention without trial in Guantanamo Bay that we no longer practice, as Najib has thrown ISA out.

So, UMNO need to get Najib out if he compromises our values and the rights and interests of the Malays to get TPPA, developed nation status etc.

      Delete
    10. And another sarcasm against the Malays by the bastard saying "Without NEP, Malays as a whole simply CANNOT compete", capitalizing the word to maximize the pain to the Malays.

Here's one piece to drum into the bastard's blasted head as well as an explanation to those in the world who might be reading Annie's blog -

There's no question of competition. The Chinese have been the richest in this country for half a century. They have a "culture of doing business" for hundreds if not thousands of years. Their children have heard about profits and wealth accumulation even when still in their mothers' wombs. When born, every hour, every day, every week etc they hear about prices, kilos, profits, bank accounts, savings, buying properties, wealth accumulation, until death.

However, the Malays do not have a culture of doing business. They have a culture of "berdagang", exchanging goods for daily necessities or barter trade, based on the concept of "patut". Read the books, "The Malay Civilization" and "Tamadun Alam Melayu" published by the Historical Society of Malaysia, available at the Muzeum, KL, or google the HSM.

Even in the 1860s, the Malays in Perak were bringing their "pasir hitam" (tin ore) to the river mouth or confluence of rivers, exchanging them with bales of cloth, no measurement, weighing or timbang menimbang, no price fixing, just based on what was deemed "patut", often exploited and cheated by the pendatang when they entered the Malay states from the then British trading settlement of Penang. Read the History of Perak by Professor M.A Fawzi Basri, published by the Yayasan Perak.

So, no competition can exist under those circumstances. It'd be totally unfair, unreasonable, tidak patut to compete on an extremely unlevel playing field, especially when they adopt dog eat dog attitude in their ways among the business-adept pendatang.

As explained earlier on, no question that "NEP should last until the Malays are nurtured sufficiently to be able to STAND PROUD in the world." Instead, NEP should last for as long as the citizenship right of the pendatang lasts. That's the only fair basis of dealing with the ultra kiasu, ungrateful ingrate, Cina Bukit, pendatang DAP and their kind.

      Delete
    11. Chehh, now the bastard ungrateful ingrate drives in his point that the NEP means that the Malays "have to allow the non-Bumis to stay." And the crafty devil uses the words, "so that their productive efforts could subsidise the Malays." And slam one more sarcasm, saying "In short, work in the interest of the Malays."

Don't you guys see the bloody mindedness, extremely exploitative nature of the ultra kiasu, ungrateful ingrate, Cina Bukit, pendatang DAP and the likes of them? Like the Jew " Mechant of Venice" written by William Shakespeare, they must extract every ounce of blood - "a pound of flesh" Shakespeare put it in the shitty mouth of the Jew in Venice, and the Jew of Malaysia above wants an unhindered right of stay in Malaysia!

He probably have read that even prominent personalities in this country have said that those who don't like the system in this country, don't respect and abide by the Constitution of this country should migrate.

Don't blame me for saying those, guys. It has often been written in here, action brings a reaction, nastiness begets nastiness, and now Najib wants to throw out the Sedition Act, that which was demanded by this kind of bastards. Thank Goodness most of UMNO Divisions as well as the Youth and Wanita wings have defied that wish of his.

      Delete
    12. Finally, this bastard needs to be shown his utter stupidity and Jewish character.

Talking about the 15% Bumi discount for houses in Johor, yet pointing out that "If there are no non-Bumis to buy at higher prices, Malays wont' be able to enjoy the discount." Can you imagine the level of stupidity in that statement of his?

What the hell is the discount for if the Malays can't afford to buy the houses. Shit of a propaganda, isn't it?

He has no empathy, no understanding, completely not caring one bit for the predicament of the Malays and the Bumiputears of Sabah and Sarawak who, not only don't have a culture of doing business, of making profits and of wealth accumulation, but also did not have the facilities and assistance to acquire even education as much as the pendatang had, mostly living in the towns during the 100 years of British colonial rule and after Merdeka until NEP.

The Malays who mostly lived in the rural areas were provided by the British colonial rulers only 4 years of primary schooling, the schools far in between the kampongs, Malay children had to walk 4 miles to reach schools, tired, hungry, malnourished, etc. Whereas the British provided to he Chinese pendatang who mostly lived in the towns not only both primary and secondary schools, but also schools in English, the passport to success during British rule.

Damn it, under the NEP since 1971, the Malays proved they are as capable educationally and now there are hundreds, even thousands of of Professors, PhDs, Master's degree holders in the public and private sector. But in business the Malays and Bumiputeras have only 22% of corporate wealth, not known how much in other sectors of the economy.

Yes, since the citizenship right for the pendatang is permanent, the quid pro quo/ the Special Position of the Malays and the Bumiputeras from which NEP is derived, must also be permanent.

The above several comments must be hell of mouthfuls for the pig-shit mouth of the ungrateful ingrate, Cina Bukit pendatang DAP bloke.

      Nothing about personal responsibility.

I am amazed at the chutzpah and naivete of those who think that they have the right to ask (even demand) that others and the rest of the world stop, take a breather or timeout and allow Malaysia a chance to catch up.

Like asking China, India and Indonesia, or even Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam, to put their development on hold while the less fortunate and less well-endowed catch up.

I'd love to see which Malaysian government, BN or PR, can sell this to the outside world.

  10. Khalid lembab!

Khalid masih tidak nampak the meaning of, "politics of numbers"

  11. The habit of issuing public advice/warning have been synonymous with Malaysian public officials today. Everybody knows that this is tantamount to nothing really, just shifting of blame to the lesser ranks. Everybody want to look tough but scared stiff to go into action. Sayangkan kedudukan. Those public officials knows that if the were to leave their lofty positions, they will be reduced to giving comments on internet blogs on issues that they failed to address when they have the position and power to resolve it.

Time for the country to have the leadership it deserve.

Najib must go, if not UMNO should go. Take your Kak Ros along, please.

    1. Pssst, no harm in giving comments on internet blogs, sir. Tun Dr Mahathir whacked Pak Lah so hard and so much in his Chedet blog that it was a major factor for Pak Lah's down fall.

Yes, just pulling your leg, I know you were referring to Najib and the like - Najib would certainly blog a lot when no longer PM. He began his 1Malaysia blog soon after becoming PM. If he gets replaced before time, he'd have 2Malaysia, one for his kind of so-called liberal politics. I won't mind it if he does.

    2. Difficult to relocate residents in Cameron Highlands, says Palanivel

CAMERON HIGHLANDS: The proposed relocation of residents occupying the river banks and river reserves especially in Lembah Bertam, Ringlet where landslides and mud flood hit the area recently, is made difficult by the residents' refusal to move to a new area.

Note: This is expected from our ball-less government. They are just useless,

  14. I'm not sure we are still in denial. UMNO Johor now in the worst situation since UMNO baru was formed. Something is wrong now and we must changed the leadership to survive. DS Najib and TS Muhyiddin must have a table talk with UMNO Johor or straightly take action regarding our local issues. For those commentary from Perkasa pleasebmind your own business. Your idea to push Sultan Selangor to except Azmin Ali as new MB of Selangor is bullshit..so annoying and stupid move.
