Back in JB

I'm now back in JB, once more!!!
Its been a long emotional journey for me...

JB has changed a lot since I was here, but that's probably because I've not been back.

Have been driving around and absorbing the smells and sights of JB city for the past three hours since I arrived yesterday night.

Macam org gila takde kerja, I tell you.

Things seem to be quiet on the JB Sentral front at 3am.

This is the photo that I took. A different perspective on how this area is during day time.

It's now almost midnight... Time for some lempeng in Kampung Tarom.

  2. Nothing much to write if it's not political. Hardly anything in the country is not political because of unwarranted acts and omissions of leaders in recent times.

With "hidden hands", unnecessary Anina Langkawi-kind of legal suits and "spoken-about-but-unacted legal suits" like against WSJ and NYT, veiled and not-so-veiled threats against "those not with us", so much to speak about but the right forum is now lacking.

    Whither democracy?

    1. Saya pun orang JB tapi dah lama tinggal di KL. Tiap-tiap kali balik JB,mesti nak cari murtabak Johor dan tauhu bakar. Kedua-dua makanan ni memang lebih sedap daripada the ones found in KL.

  5. Terrible traffic jams now in town centre. But that's the price of development, I guess. There used to be the best satay ever from a gerai in front of Lido beach...good memories! We used to buy 80 sticks (5 sen each) in one shot.

Anyway take care and welcome home. Johor will always be Johor, like Steve Jobs "think different":

  6. Aiseh....Annie. Mengapa buang Helen Ang dari blog-roll? Saya selalu pergi ke blog dia dari Life of Annie.

  7. Tarom lempeng notwithstanding, satisfaction and happiness is relative. Usually related to hopes and aspirations.

Hopes and aspirations may fizzle and dwindle. Under conditions of autocracy and tyranny.

Allowing those may breed greater unhappiness.

  8. Why don't you stand at the JB side of the Causeway and watch all those Malaysians going to work in Singapore. Motorbikes, buses, taxis, pedestrians....an unending stream.

Welcome to uncomfortable facts of life in JB. Traffic jams, badly maintained roads and public spaces, littering, flash floods, a rundown JB CBD, lack of good jobs for JB residents (hence the lemming-like rush to Singapore) etc etc.

Don't let the supposed gloss of Iskandar Malaysia blind you to the seamy side of life in JB!

  11. Hi Annie,
Great, get away relax and enjoy. I always enjoy your articles and give balance view unlike other bloggers. On another note, waiting to see what AG Apandi will say about the 42 Million into Najib account. Donation again maybe....

Annie, you made a good and wise decision to distance yourself from these kind of corrupt people. All I can say, support whoever you like as long the person is a good person. Thanks.

  13. Annie can you tell us who are the parties who got the AP to export bauxite in Pahang. They are probably the right party to answer the mess that they have created.

  16. So what if Annie is not what she claims to be.

As someone said the other day, go for the contents and not the container.

It is the message that is paramount, not the messenger.
