He accused me of spinning and being a racist.
That, despite me not using a single word of "Malay", "Chinese" , "Eskimo" or any other race in that post.
I believe that I was not spinning and merely stating facts from the outcome of GE14.
Nonetheless, I was quite taken aback by my friend's angry words.
I got plenty of comments similar to his, but the one coming from him was quite disconcerting.
That's because he used to be a staunch Umno member and hated DAP about 1,000 times more than me.
And he knew that there's no way that I'm a racist.
In fact, up until just before GE14, he expressively told me that it's okay to whack DAP leaders as the party, despite being a Pribumi Bersatu ally, must be kept in check.
I guess my friend now realised that despite the euphoria of defeating BN and ousting Najib, the GE14 results also marked the end of Malays' dominance in Malaysian politics.
Malays' only real leverage in this country is politics due to them being the majority and now they have lost it because of their disunity.
For instance, it's a fact that the ruling PH coalition now has more non-Malay MPs than Malays.
And the part where I wrote about DAP now being the dominant party in the PH coalition in Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Johor was also factual.
My friend was probably angry because he can't dispute me on those facts.
And he knew that his Pribumi Bersatu was largely responsible for what happened.
Maybe he was even angry with himself.
Nonetheless, I do understand the need to get rid of Najib and his gang in Umno.
They made Umno and BN looked so bad that a large number of Umno members voted for PH in GE14.
It was said that at least 40 per cent of Umno members and supporters in Johor voted for PH.
Najib and his people failed to counter the PH campaign as I put it in this post,
By right, Najib should have resigned once he became a liability to his party.
It doesn't matter whether he was guilty or not. If he failed to prove his innocence in the eyes of the public at that time, then he should have stepped down.
Well, that's too late now.
For me, the big question now is whether the Malays could reunite and win back their majority power.
But then again, do they really want to be united?
Do they care when others said
Malays consumed candu
about things such as the New Economic Policy which among others took most Malays out of the poverty zone and provided education which they couldn't possibly afford on their own?
Do they care when others mocked
Malay poems
like they did in the comment section of that post?
Do they even care about being Malays?
Well, I know that my angry friend care about those things more than me.
I don't even consider myself a real Malay.
My dad said that to me, actually.
I can sense that despite his anger, my friend was wishing for the Malays to reunite under his Pribumi Bersatu party.
Though not saying it, I believe that he wished for all Umno members to jump ship into his party and therefore enabling it to be the dominant party in PH.
Currently, it has only 12 parliamentary seats.
Umno, despite the GE14 defeat still holds 54 parliamentary seats.
It also have the most state seats in Perak and Johor where the MBs are from Pribumi Bersatu.
So, it's a bit hard to imagine all those Umno people jumping into the smaller party.
And whether they like it or not, Pribumi Bersatu people have to accept the fact that the only draw they have is the leadership of Dr Mahathir and his current position as the interim PM.
I wonder what the new Johor government, helmed by a Pribumi Bersatu MB, is going to do about this complaint by Dr Mahathir prior to GE14 |
I can't see much future of the party under the leadership of Mahyuddin who should now be past 70.
And Mukhriz, despite my fondness of him, is a far cry from his father.
Who else? Syed Saddiq? Osman Sapian?.....come on la.
Umno, on the other hand, stands a better chance of reuniting the Malays if only it could fix itself.
Pas? Pas is even worse than Umno, okay.
The thought of Malays uniting under the Pas banners scares me.
Okay, I will write more about all these later.
Taking a nap now,
Ciao.
Beratus tahun sebelum merdeka org Melayu tak bersatu pun. Ok je duduk dalam negara yg dijajah.

“Berju-Wang”, ya lah. Bukan “berjuang”. Umno “Berju-Wang” demi poket jer. Sebab apa Umno yang mengancam Melayu? Sebab Umno zaman ni elitis, party culture ‘duit adalah raja', rembat projek roboh, sana sini bukan saja warisan sejarah hilang, sell asset to China to cover 1MDB debt, dll.
Dan hari ini mata kau masih nak mengada-ngada bergenang nak nangis takutkan ancaman 'Cina DAP!!!!’…outdated, tapi suit yourself lah.

Bodoh nyer kerajaan BN terdahulu..lebih bodoh dr lembu.Nak buat projek mega sekaligus sedangkan Malaysia terpaksa menanggung beban hutang yg amat tinggi. Bodoh nyer kerajaan

1. The one that has caused all these problems is a coalition government BN. That includes the malays, chinese, indians, and all.
ReplyDelete2. The one that is trying to get rid of the problems is also a coalition government PH.
3. UMNO vs PPBM. I will vote PPBM anytime. Why? Because they are the kleptocrats.
4. PAS and UMNO are the same. Both support the kleptocrats.
5. I am confident that those in PPBM will shine. Just give them a chance.
At the moment, Umno 54 Pribumi Bersatu 12, among others.
DeleteIf Perlis have re-election now. You think umno would still have 10 seat or all seat will go to ppbm. I think a bet all seat goes to PPBM.
DeleteIf pahang have re-election now. You think ppbm would win all the seat in pahang.? I thnbk PPBM stand a good chance to take all. Umno 54 seat exist before knowing the fact. After the fact can umno have the seat?. I doubt it if you have a re-election umno would lose more seats. So why would PPBM join umno it should be the other way around. Can umno win in the next election on a level playing field. They propaganda media i.e utusan are going bust. Their online politics are not making headways. Do they know how to compete in a level playing field. When they dont have government media to produce propaganda for them. No government funds to buy people vote. Yilek vote next ge for umno. UmNo members should start applying to PPBM now. At least you have a head start for next election with PPBM.
By the way anyone out there started watching tv3 and tv1. I have and it had been a while since i watch these channels.
For Perlis, I'm quite confident BN will win again if there is a re-election. I lived there for several years and I think I fairly know the political attitude of the people there. I actually wish there will be a re-election for the whole country tomorrow. The results could be quite interesting. Actually, BN/Umno could have done better without their stupid media. Thank you.

DeleteUMNO 54, Pribumi Bersatu 12...
For a party scarcely 1 year old of age, I would say Bersatu performed exceptionally well. It faced the UMNO/BN juggernaut head-on and triumphed, despite all the obstacles and challenges . It was not only fighting against UMNO/BN, but also against the might of the whole government machinery. But triumphed Bersatu and its PH partners finally did over BN. Of good over evil. A victory PH and the people of Malaysia are very proud of.
And as for UMNO? After being THE ruling party for 60 years, with all the government machinery and might at your disposal, with billions and billions and billions of ringgit in your war chest, a measly 54 seats is all you can shout about in the end? And with the almost total annihilation of your other BN members - MCA, MIC, Gerakan - it was a total rout.
And here you are, bragging about the UMNO numbers. Pathetic, if not contemptible.
That was what u said b4 GE14, BN will win, tp meleset,dh faham psal 1mdb skrg annie or u just like umno supreme leaders who are still in denial mode

1. 54 umno vs 12 ppbm. Those 54 of umno are the "setan bisu". They support the kleptocrats. I'd go with the 12 of ppbm that don't support the kleptocrats.
Delete2. PPBM has to give and take to the other coalition parties dap, pkr, amanah. As you can see those seats ppbm contested against umno and all hot seats. Winning these 12 seats against the giants is superb!
3. If you are serious about malay/bumiputera unity then you should consider ppbm or warisan but never umno.

The theme of your posting is that Najib lost because he and his incompetents could not handle the smear campaign against him.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that no matter how competent he and his people are, it is not possible to cover up anymore the problem of 1MDB and his involvement in it. No prime minister have ever been accused of theft with so much evidence from within and outside the country.
His efforts to stifle investigations with those transfers, sackings, OSA, etc make it even worse.
Even parliament, which is supposed to be a branch of government to check-and-balance the executive, colluded with him with the speaker stifling debate on 1MDB.
It is not a matter of handling a smear campaign. It is a matter of the highest office in the country involvement in massive theft and cover-up that cannot be countered by propaganda.
The theme of my posting is Malays unity.
DeleteMalays' unity against other races in this country?
DeleteMalays, even when they were united were never against other races in this country. If they were, there wouldn't even be any other races in this country.
DeleteThe hypocrite rascals among the Malays hijacked the sentiments of "Malay unity" for their own selfish deviant objectives - Orang ramai terkorban ...
DeleteAnnie,
ReplyDeleteYou are back to the same tired old arguments that others have tried a thousand times before.
Read "Kluangman" comment again. Do you understand the point he is making? Don't think you do.
Let's assume an alternative universe.
In PRU14, Umno wins the most seats.
Even better, three figures - they win 100 seats and BN gets 2/3 majority.
What happens to the Malays then?
They get gang-raped even worse.
If before, they can steal billions from
1MDB
SRC
KWAP
Tabung Haji
YAPEIM
Felda
Felcra
KWSP
BNM
& banyak lagi.
...what do you think they would do with 5 more years in power?
Like Kluangman says, if Umno has 150, OK lah 200 seats, seats, will the country be more clean, more Islamic, will citizens' lives improve?
This "Malays will lose power" is what the matsal call "Kool-Aid".
It's a tired, cliched argument, with no point.
The problem with bad propagandists like you is simple:
All race rhetoric, and no real ideas.
Think about it.
Errr...you should read my reply to that commentator. I agree with him what. And it's not about "Malays will lose power", it's about "Malays already lost power".
Delete"And it's not about "Malays will lose power", it's about "Malays already lost power".
DeleteGood, Annie, you are learning.

a) to be cheated
b) to be lied to
c) to be stolen from
d) to enrich kleptocrats.

DeleteYou may need to update yourself a little bit. In fact there is evidence already that Najib DID actually raid KWSP.
Furthermore, that fake land deal re: Bank Negara land is in effect using BNM assets to pay off 1MDB due monies.
So...it's actually happened already.
Pls. don't be shocked if revelations are made on Khazanah, too.
Land deals are not fake la. The govt need to buy land from statutory body like BNM if they wanted it. So likewise, BNM need to buy the land if they want the strategic location adjacent to their spiffy Sasana Kijang building. No such thing as giving it for free nowadays. So its whether you are disputing the value of RM2 billion prime land in the heart of KL. Its certainly not a fake land deal. BNM must be salivating to build a new HQ there if they can. What the govt do with the money is out of their hand. Same case with Khazanah.

You said, "By right, Najib should have resigned once he became a liability to his party."
I could not be more agreeable with you on this. Leading to GE14, almost all in my WhatsApp groups who were once staunch UMNO/BN supporters were converted day after day. We were expecting DSN to RESIGN and all will be back to normal. I was thinking like he will take the cue from Tun, when TDM announces that he will make a statement on the 8/05. But DSN did not! By the way I think PH won riding on Tun's charismatic pull.

ReplyDeleteWhat had happened has happened and look like it's will remain that way for sometimes .
Why blamed on others when UMNO the biggest party that could unite the Malay failed to unite them ,even their own party members (at the lower level ) turned against them is something to ponder with .
There wont be PBBM if UMNO is keens to safeguard their party form bad image due to bad leadership in the party ,UMNO should cleans itself internally before the issue concern become a national issue ,what happened to MT ,what happened to Bahgian that should oversea the party . UMNO should realize failure to do that can leads to distrust by the Malay on the whole, and among UMNO grassroots members who has no says in UMNO leadership action .
What's lead to unity and what disrupt that unity should be the question here and something to concern with and I strongly believe that it's very immature for UMNO to put the blamed on others for current Malay political position and representation .
Could anyone believe ,that 93 years handsome old man want's to disrupt a Malay unity by forming PBBM if he had no good reason and no other choice , only Najib will say that.
Correct.
DeleteIn fact the whole problem is the Umno leadership lost touch with grassroots sentiment, and the KBU were all so addicted to dedak, they never cleaned the party.
Umno could still be in power if it took very decisive steps in 2015.
But they chose not to.

Hmm u r talking facts its true.
ReplyDeleteActually creating bersatu party (another malay party) is actually a new malay dilemma. Weve talked about this extensively in the late dinturtle's blog way before najib 1mbd was discovered and bersatu was established. I was arguing the need for a new option for the malays and bumi. A lot of them commentators wasnt agree to this for the same reason of unity. But eventually even tun saw tht a new party for malay and bumi was needed.
And it is also a fact tht umno himself perjahanamkan melayu and bumi.we were also questionig najibs liberal policy listening to his consultant way before the 1mbd with his 1msia and wht not.
I guess im saying we know whts would happen post pru but we still decided to go with it. Its the better choice.
It is sad tht we are still defining politics in msia racially. But maybe its time to start trusting each other for better malaysia.
For me as long as the constitution isnt distrubed then maybe it is better for the malays and bumi to have this rude awakening.
But should they start playing with the constitution, i believe our number is still the greatest our greatest strengh. If anything pru14 shows tht we are flexiblr and practical enough to make necessary changes if needed
Cont,
DeleteFor now im giving dap the benefits of the doubt and quite frankly im more worried about pkr and their anwar agenda instead of malaysia and its people.
The very simple solution is for Umno members to join PPBM.
DeleteIt's a new party.
By next PRU it can have machinery to rival Umno's old machinery.
In effect PPBM replaces Umno as the largest Malay party, but without all the negative baggage.
Ive made up my mind tht all umno members are complicits to najib and co's crime.
DeleteLetting umno members in will only do bersatu harm.
Maybe we should attracts more youngins to be the members. Saddiq can play large role here. We need clean new and fresh blood.
let me see... who in umno can rejunavate umno; we can remove existing so called leadership i.e. zahid, hisham etc... and that leaves us with KJ? i mean seriously... yes only him since for better part of this decade... there are no other new @ young leader coming through the rank or coming externally. none.
ReplyDeleteso umno is left with its existimg youth leader who no one seems to know who is is his deputy @ challenger [since unity is the them, right - cerai roboh kan]. this youth leader who acts like a bangsawan, a wanna be artist, born with a silver spoon... will galvanise umno, consolidate and lead umno again...
he may actually succed in doing that ... since the current state of umno... but ...
understand this very carefully... whats the point of unity if we are weak [unity does not neccesarily mean strong.. dont believe me? sheep are alway in unity]. if disunity bring strength to a society.. so be it then.
DeleteWhy KJ ,and how sincere is Kj ?, if all in the MT and MT pemuada and Wanita have the love for UMNO and Malay unity like our forefathers does ,they would have not allowed Najib do anything he pleased as long as he survive as president of UMNO.
UMNO after 2008 have only used Malay unity retrospective as a tool to clouded the Malay minds , which they themselves didn't care as long as Najib is their president .
They UMNO should object to Najib resignation .
Like it or not, KJ is the only hope Umno have.
DeleteZahid & Hisham have no youth appeal.
Look at demographic trends in Malaysia...
Tht means the corrupt is still the only choice in umno ?

Annie,
ReplyDeleteUMNO will always play the racial card because they are running out of cards.
This will be the case for the next election.
At the federal level, the Malay still control government. The number of Malay or Muslim MP still more than the Chinese MP.
Assuming that at GE15, PH gain more seats, the number of DAP seats are already near saturation whereas the number of Malays seats will be getting larger.
Fear mongering tactics is the one deliberately created to scare Malay.
During the Malacca era, fear mongering of the Tunku Bendahara taking over Malacca is the tactics that lead the King decided to sentence to death Tunku Bendahara and with all his family. This lead to the fall of Malacca not long after.
This fear mongering has been in the Malay history since thousand of years.
What is important is that the Malay still govern this country and we have a competent government.
We have 3 Majority Malay parties and 1 majority chinese party, that is good enough.
The problem of Malay disunited do not arise, Malay can still united even if they voted differently at the polls.
Still too much form over substance, Annie.
ReplyDeleteInstead of prioritizing honesty, integrity, capability, leadership, character and inner strength, your friend (and to a large extent, your goodself) prioritizes race as a important judgement point.
Until you and your friend get out of that mindset, until Malaysians are able to switch their mindset, Malaysia will never become competitive in the world; forever a middle power at the regional level (not even a full fledged regional power), destined to be pushed around and used as a chess piece by the bigger powers.

ReplyDeleteHave you ever wonder why a small country like Malaysia have 9 Malay Sultan and 9 Malay States ?
Malays, Malay states and the Malay Sultans has always liked it that way....ie small...and being small does not mean less prosperous....look at Brunei ..
Malays, Malay states and Malay Sultans prosper when they left as they are ie. small, separately distinct etc. ie perak Malay vs Johor Malay....
