I'm not a big fan of Indonesian street food.
The only street food I always asked for whenever I'm in Indonesia was Gado-gado.
There's the halal thing to consider too.
Gado-gado, which is basically just salad is the best bet for that.
There was once I was in Ubud, Bali and ended up eating almost just Gado-gado the whole week.
Only towards the end of the trip that I found a Japanese restaurant along Jalan Monkey Forest that I managed to take a break from my Gado-gado staple diet.
So, I was not very excited when a friend took me for a Bakso lunch at Kampung Melayu Majidee JB yesterday.
The stall #BaksoSuper is located at a house near a junction in front of the village mosque.
Surprisingly the Bakso tastes really good.
It's simple yet very tasty and refreshing.
The meatballs were just of the right texture and the broth was just nicely spiced up.
There's also the side dish of fried tempe and tofu.
Sorry that I'm not much of a food critic, and can't describe the whole thing properly.
If you are in JB, you may want to try the dish yourself.
The stall also offers other dishes of Indonesian street food.
You can see the simple menu here,
I think better of Indonesian street food now.
Maybe I will try the other dishes when I go back to the stall again later.
Okay, I need to do a bit more work and later on make an early exit for the trip back to Kluang.
Hopefully I can beat the usual traffic jam at Jalan Skudai.
Nope, still no politics today.
Ciao.
Orang Melayu kata: Kerana 'mulut', badan merasa.
ReplyDeleteOmputih kata: You are what you eat. (Anda adalah apa yang anda makan)
Oleh yang demikian, apabila kita nak makan, fikirkan juga 'khasiat' untuk badan kita. Kalu ikut cita-rasa 'mulut', nanti badan merana keran tak cuba khasiat.
Taste atau 'rasa-sedap' adalah subjective. Bagi kita sedap, tapi orang lain, mungkin rasa jijik. Contoh durian, cencalok, perkasam. Ikan gelama-kering.
Contoh: Di Jepun, jika kita goreng ikan gelama-masin, jiran-jiran akan buat komplain, kerana bagi mereka baunya sangat busuk. Ada yang kata lebih busuk dari bangkai.
Khasiat pula adalah, universal. Seluruh dunia akui tentang khasiat buah-buahan & sayuran.
oleh yang demikian, apabila kita memasak atau membeli makanan untuk anak-anak, beri lebih keutamaan kepada khasiat, melebihi sedap.
Harap Maklum.
My fav Indonesian food is sambal orek- the tempe with kacang. Can eat tons of that stuff. I'm a bit wary of stall food run by Indonesians because of hygiene issue, and remember the rumours about satay kucing?
ReplyDeleteI like Sari Ratu in Subang Parade. But their nasi serving very small. I've noticed even in Thailand, rice serving like nasi lemak bungkus size only. Must always tambah.
Sari Ratu Subang Parade is expensive. Sekali sekala boleh laaa...
DeleteCheers
Sari Ratu prices is damn expensive even for upper middle income folks. In Indonesia its only a warung type foods
DeleteKampung Melayu also has a decent mee rebus stall but Haji Wahid still trumps all in JB.
ReplyDeleteNah ibuk, lebih ragam Indonesia untuk nikmat anda .... bangun, berjalan lebih jauh, menyelam lebih dalam

In Indonesia and in a 240 million Muslim majority country and you are wary about their food and stick to gado-gado. You must be a stupid fool. Save for Bali it can be safely said the majority Muslim sells food whhich is halal.
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary, here is Malaysia food maybe halal, tapi kucing, taik kucing, bulu kucing, kencing kucing, lauk payuk basi raise questions about the halalness. Don't we regularly hear about food poisoning kat asrama and kenduri kahwin. Halal bererti juga kebersihan.
Setuju. Saya kalau nampak kucing di Restoran Melayu tak makan. Halal mungkin makanannya tapi pasti tidak bersih.
