Sunday morning rambling

Woke up a bit too early on this Sunday morning.

Not really sure what to write now that I can't be too brash anymore.

I love my mother and don't want to upset her.

She knows that I like to joke around quite a lot, but always worried that I may go overboard and makes people angry with me.

Well, you can't please everyone.

In fact, if you want to write about politics, you must bear with people who will hate you, call you names and threaten you with all sorts of things.

I am not really sure why, but this blog actually attracts quite a sizable number of readers from the pro-Pakatan crowd.

In fact, in the beginning, most of the comments came from them. Of course, those comments were not of the very nice varieties.

The comments section only actually evens out quite recently, when some pro-BN commenters make the effort to counter the argument of those pro-Pakatan people.

Myself....I'm not even really bothered with the pro-Pakatan comments.

Most of them are quite dumb, anyway.

I normally just let them through because unlike Lim Guan Eng and the gang, I believe in freedom of expression.

I will not go "You dare publish that, you see la what I ll do to your paper!!!!"

That's childish.

All that talks about freedom this and freedom that were all bullshit.

Honestly, I lost some respect for the Chinese community for worshipping that irritating hypocrite nerd.

Well, never mind. Let them be.

Anyway, I miss my mother very much.

I may only see her next week.

She is very busy now. She works all the time.

The only time she called me this month was yesterday and that one was just because she need to scold me for being naughty.

Well, I don't mind. At least I got to hear her voice.

Ma, if you are reading this, I want you to know that I love you very much. I know you are Chinese and all that stuff you said about being hardworking. But, please try not to work today. Take a rest, okay.

Ma, this one for you,

  1. Meditation for the Day: "Identification is Misery"

Junaid was going through the market-place of the town with his disciples. And it was his way to take any situation and use it to teach. A man was dragging his cow by a rope, and Junaid said ’Wait a while’ to the man, and told his disciples "Gather around this man and his cow. I am going to teach you something."

The man stopped – Junaid was a famous mystic – for he was also interested in what the master was going to impart about him and his cow. And Junaid asked his disciples "Tell me one thing: who is bound to whom? Is the cow bound to this man or is the man bound to this cow?’ So the disciples answered: "The cow is bound to the man of course. The man is the master:- he is holding the rope and the cow has to follow him wherever he goes. He is the master and the cow is the slave.’

Junaid said "Now, observe." He took out a pair of scissors and cut the rope – and the cow ran off from its owner. The man panicked and went chasing after the cow.

Junaid said: "Look at what's happening! Now who is the master? the cow is not interested at all in this man – in fact, she has run off." The cow owner was very angry, and shouted: "What kind of experiment is this?" But Junaid instructed his disciples: "Such also is the case with your mind."

    Commentary:
All the nonsense that you are carrying inside is not interested in you. You are the one interested in it, and keeping it in your possession – you are becoming mad in keeping it together somehow. Because you are attached to it. The moment you lose interest, the moment you understand the futility of it, it will start disappearing; like the cow it will disappear form your mind.

  2. Here are the interviews by STAR of the contenders for the Teluk Intan MP seat.

Excerpt: What does Dyana do to relax?

"I read. I am currently reading Machiavelli’s The Prince and Ooi Kee Beng’s The Reluctant Politician. I carry a book in my handbag all the time. But during this campaign period, I don’t even get to open the books."

The books she read are an indicator of how she thinks. While I think the likes of Khairy, Rafizi, Anwar, Liew Chin Tong and Tony Pua would have read The Prince; most Malaysia politicians won't know what's it about.

    5. I'm not impressed when people say I read this, I read that. Spitting out any book just to say you do read a book really is no brainer. Anyone can do that. Give us a proof that you do read it by giving some rough ideas, in your own words what the book concerned is really about. It feels really shallow and superficial if you going around telling other people you read this book by this writer as if people will be smitten with you. If you want to bluff, just make sure you put some effort into it.

  3. Chin up, Annie. You know you're effective when these DAPsters keep hounding you. It's when they leave you alone that you have to worry about whether your blogs have any effect.
BTW, you shouldn't be putting that pix of the tokong constantly. You know what they say, somehow, horrendously, you might end up being attracted to someone who looks like that.
I had a friend, very attractive and had lots of admirers, once told me she couldn't stand her colleague sitting in front of her. "So comot and botak," she said. After 2 years, she ended up marrying him!

You are right. Buddhism is a way of life. I study eastern religion in college. There is no concept of idol worshiping of any form in Buddhism. Many Malaysian Chinese are confused between Taoism and Buddhism, for many of them are Taoist actually and not Buddhist .

    Here's my Sunday evening rant:
If you have friends in MOTourism, please ask them to monitor tourist guides who talk as if they're PRC Chinese or Taiwanese.
I'm up my ears after a couple of days following a grp fr US in KL.
First dinner after arrival - HUTONG@LOT10. Everything abt it screams HONG KONG!!!
On a trip to Janda Baik, it's abt LIM GOH TONG. Genting was his vision alone. No mention of free land from Sultan Pahang.
Even high collar at Malay Wedding was inspired by SUN YAT SEN, the Father of Modern China.
Can officers at the ministry please rescind the licences or permits of guides who praise everything Chinese and thus put Malays down?
And the curator, volunteers n speakers for textile museum too. It makes it hard to defend Malay culture, tradition, leadership etc to ignorant tourists out there.
Thanks n hv a great week ahead!

    1. Re. please ask them to monitor tourist guides who talk as if they're PRC Chinese or Taiwanese.

If the ground operators/travel agency that arrange for the tour guide and sightseeing are Chinese companies, it is only natural that they will arrange the itinerary as such i.e. Chinese-Centric. They will get commission from the restaurants, place of interest, souvenir shops, theme parks and even shopping malls. These are their networks. This practice is used worldwide.

The same will work if the ground operators/travel agency belongs to the
      Bumiputera.

Re. Can officers at the ministry please rescind the licences or permits of guides who praise everything Chinese and thus put Malays down?

That will be racist according to them, just like asking the MOE to abolish SJKC and SJKT.

Re. It makes it hard to defend Malay culture, tradition, leadership etc to ignorant tourists out there.

If you are in-charge of the itinerary in anyway, next time please engage the Bumiputera Travel Agency. There are many places of interest around Kuala Lumpur that reflects Malay and Malaysian Cultures e.g. Kraftangan Malaysia in Jalan Conlay; Street Foods in Kampung Baru, It is sad that Restaurant Seri Melayu is no longer there is Jalan Conlay but they have one in KL Tower; Islamic Art Museum; There is nothing in Genting that they have not seen in Last Vegas, Reno and Atlantic City, but a trip to Kuala Selangor to see fireflies is something that will remember forever. The Orchid Garden, Birds and Butterflies are another hits spots.

      P.S

I can write about this, because I know this business very well, not that I am running the business but I used to do consultancy work in this area. The trick is, don't leave it up to the agency to pick up the places of interest for you, but dictate your choices.

ROTFL. This is hilarious, soon they will say that the "Sanggul Lintang" was inspired by Empress Dowager cixi jung chang.

Bad enough the British and followed by them i.e. the Chinese, had twisted the fact that Kuala Lumpur was open by Yap Ah Loy, while the historical fact is by Raja Abdullah.

" Unquote

      http://ms.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lembah_Klang

There is one particular place that I really like to visit on any evening when I have time, when it was quiet. It is the Masjid Jamek and to watch it from a short distance away, watching both Sungai Kelang and Sungai Gombak merge to become one.

Again you twist histroy for Chinese work under the hot sun in the palongs tin mine not open rumah tumpangan. It is KAPITAN yap ah loy as he was requestef by Abdullah as his fellow subjects are not willing to do so. Yap ah loy and his merry men open up KL and abdullah gave him this title. Chinese were not called pendatang. Only ingrate and ungrateful umno does it otherwise Abdullah would have send them back. Instead, since locals are not willing to work, Abdullah ask if kapitan can ask more from China to come over.

    4. Re. Again you twist histroy for Chinese work under the hot sun in the palongs tin mine not open rumah tumpangan.

Yes because they were coolie and some were comfort women. Old habit dies hard they say, that is why until today Chinese Prostitutes like to come to Malaysia and all of the rumah urut and karoeke bar are run by the local Chinese.

      Can you deny that?

Re. It is KAPITAN yap ah loy as he was requestef by Abdullah as his fellow subjects are not willing to do so. Yap ah loy and his merry men open up KL

Working in the tin mine doesn't equate to opening Kuala Lumpur. Gosh! you, Cinabeng, always want to claim credit for things that are not yours,

Re. Chinese were not called pendatang

According to you. But prior to Merdeka, the Chinese and Indian are known as Foreign Guests/Migrants Workers,in Malay it means Pendatang.

Re. Instead, since locals are not willing to work, Abdullah ask if kapitan can ask more from China to come over.

The British was the one who brought them over, and not His Royal Highness Raja Abdullah. Back in China the Cinabeng were savaged by opium abused and poverty. The British didn't bring the descendant of any Royalties, Palace Courtier and Chinese Aristocrats. All of them are coolies and when they started to settle down in Malaya, they began their KONGSI GELAP and GANGSTER activities which thrive until today.

Please google about this info, That is why the Chinese mostly prefer living in gated community for they are afraid of their dark past.

In graduate school and in any research work, you must prove your point by substantiating it with a valid source. You must then give credit to the source, otherwise it will be considered as plagiarism.

I'll suggest to Tourism Msia NYC to liase with a Bumi ground operator from here on.
Is it not racist when they claim that Malaysia owes everything to China? So much so that the Red Neck tourist retorted, "What do u hv then if even the Dragon is a Chinese symbol?"
I had to tell him that Naga is a dominant feature in SEAan mythology just like dragons n unicorns in European ones.
Believe me, the guides n museum speakers had made preposterous claims such as Baba marrying local Malays since it was common practice then. So many false or manipulated claims.
Abt KL's founding, there were tensions btw Chinese n Malay versions at the museum speaking circuit too. Plus textiles, costumes, etc
Anyway, thanks for the tips. Hope you'll open the museum directors' eyes regarding these subversive elements.

    1. Re. Is it not racist when they claim that Malaysia owes everything to China?

Now you know why they are being despised abroad. In the US they are confined in China Town and living among their community. In Malaysia they want to "Bersultan Dimata. Beraja Dihati".

The only Chinese-Friendly city in the US is San Francisco. Still it is a "Sarang Gangster", unknown to many. I used to live there for a while and had never noticed that though I lived just a short walk from China Town. My apartment is located in the Jewish Community area and only found out about it from a documentary on TV.

Please ask Tourism Malaysia in NYC to strike out Petaling Street/China Town from the list. It is an INTERNATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT, it is a walking distance from my place too but have not been there for ages.

Re. So much so that the Red Neck tourist retorted, "What do u hv then if even the Dragon is a Chinese symbol?"

Next time answer like this , "Now you now why in America they are only confined in China Town? If you give them an inch, they will walk all over you.

Tun M office is located at Islamic Art Museum. Since you are in this industry, you should alert Tun M about the situation. Tun M is very responsive and sensitive towards this subversive elements. We ought to teach the Cinabeng a lesson. No more Tolak Ansur.

Many of the times, I saw Tour Guides (Cinabeng one that is) leading a group of tourists to have dinner in Jalan Alor. If you have a chance to walk in Jalan Alor during day time, you can tell what kind of place that is...REALLY FILTHY. They get commission from the restaurant owners there I think.

  9. The problem is also with the people pleasers in the industry - from the minister through the rank and file. Dont want to ruffle any feather. Just politely smile and tolerate all this BS.
I'll needle my way re Petaling St & Jln Alor. Wl post pics of filthy back lanes on my fb time line. And drop in on Tun's office at Islamic Museum one of these days. Thanks again for the support on this matter. Btw, I was a guest for the dinner and day trip. Not in the industry.
