Just got words from Johor that former Gelang Patah MP Tan Ah Eng passed away just now.
YB Tan who was suffering from cancer was MCA deputy Wanita chief and the MP of Gelang Patah from 2004 to 2013.
I would like to convey my heartfelt condolences to her family.
She will mostly be remembered for her tireless works as an MP and Johor MCA Wanita chief.
An unassuming person, I first met her in person during a trip to Seoul , South Korea several years ago. I had at first thought she was just another friendly auntie until she introduced herself as the MP of Gelang Patah. We exchanged pleasantries and stories about Johor. From that first encounter, I know that she was a selfless person and sincere in serving her constituents in Gelang Patah.
YB Tan's place as Gelang Patah MP has now been taken over by DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang after he defeated former Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman in GE13.
Thank you YB Tan. May you rest in peace.

Sometimes, we do come across politicians whose primary aim is to serve their contituents.
ReplyDeleteI believe Tan Ah Eng was one.
It's good for non Johoreans to know there was such a person.
