A story from Myanmar (with updates from China)

NOTE: Following requests by some commenters who insisted for me not to use Myanmar as a benchmark for Malaysia, I had decided to use China, which may soon be the biggest economy in the world as the benchmark on how minority communities should not be treated by a government.

The updates are at the bottom of this page.

ORIGINAL POSTING

There are people in Malaysia who considered themselves as being oppressed and discriminated because of their race and religion.

The assortments of hateful words they spewed based on those claims could almost made us believe that Malaysia is no better than the South Africa during the dark days of apartheid.

And yes, their leaders who at the very top is DAP's Lim Guan Eng had indeed described the system of governance in this country as being the same as apartheid.

On May 5,  it was proven that the overwhelming majority of Chinese community in Malaysia actually believe what were being said by Guan Eng and his followers, about them being oppressed, victimized and discriminated.

So, to put things in perspective, I'm putting the link of this story by Associated Press (parts of which appeared in today's New Sunday Times) on what it really means for a minority community to be oppressed, victimized and discriminated.

Massacre of Muslims in Myanmar Ignored

UPDATES

And meanwhile in China, the Economist reported that the Chinese government's discriminatory policies implemented to suppressed the religious and cultural identity of a minority community had led to

Ethnic unrest in Xinjiang

    1. What are you laughing about? Muslims being massacred is a laughing matter to you is it?

If Guan Eng and his DAP people can compare Malaysia with South Africa under apartheid and Nazi Germany, I think I can benchmark what's happening here with whatever is happening in other countries too.

    2. Annie, please don't use muslim being massacred in Myammar as a ground to bash the cina kui ok? It's reflect badly on you and the muslim community.

    3. Apalah korang semua.

Orang cina kena supressed, especially the sweet young ones, can be clearly seen.

Just go to shopping mall, they don't have enough money to buy proper dress. The can only affird skimpy pants and undersized t-shirts.

A video of a cute young one being "pressed" by a certain old man with big tools also gone viral on the net last year.

So, stop talking about Myanmar, Egypt, Palestin.

So now you see, it's useless to reason with this kind of people, who choose to believe the shit propaganda that DAP puts out.

    5. Annie you tanya sejarah Mak you bagaimana keluarga dia lari mai ke Tanah Melayu?

Sama jug a warga India yang berhijrah kesini.

Baru2 ni jiran Cina saya ziarah kampung, hantar tablet bapanya baru mati.

  3. Assalamualaikum to all.

  4. Some context please instead of your usual shallow understanding and silly comparison. The violence in Myanmar has been widely condemned by all. It is plain wrong. That doesn't mean the abuses and racial discrimination in our country is any less relevant. Comprende?

Let's burn down several shoplots and rumah urut, executes several GRO and Dolly Dolls ladies and several infidels promoting prostitution. And then lets the ATM declare Darurat. No worries Anonymous, most of the ATM are Muslims and the highest command in ATM is YDPA. Cheers!

Let us recall do America, Singapore, China sent their navies, jet fighters or drones to help the Chinese during the Financial Crisis of 1998 in Indonesia? remember that unforgettable era called Krismon? krisis ekonomi? the way they are doing things looks like they are itching for something to happen. 3. In 1998, Chinese was merely on the way up.

The 2008 Olympics was their Coming Out Party.

Now, they want the Spratlys for the petroleum beneath. Their naval vessels now sail the world. Uncle Sam now treats it like an equal power.

Also, their ego has increased - just watch how it deals with Japan with regard to a small uninhabited island.

As for the smaller but China trade dependent countries, perceived disrespect can cause them to suffer reduce access to its 1.3 billion market, for a start.

For Malaysia, China is its largest export market.

    A Lesson from History:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=KWC4VQjRKD4

Once not so long ago Malaysians were terrified by Chin Peng and the Malayan Communist Party's gigantic political ambitions and grass-roots terrorism. Especially when the communists linked up with Sukarno's fling with Marxist ideology and his personal quest to conquer Malaysia for himself, that led to the saga of "The Emergency" in our country, and tens of thousands of Indonesians being massacred by their own fellowmen in the anti-communist backlash in Indonesia.

May Allah protect the people from sinister motives and deceitful leaders, from insatiable greed and confused ambitions. Amen

Dap leaders esp Guan Eng should make frequent trips down memory lane back to their ancestors homeland to see with their own eyes what their own race is doing to their people back there. (He was back there to visit his uncle or uncle in law few years back?)

Don't forget to make videos and post on youtube for all to see (try to smuggle, besar kemungkinan akan dirampas).

Rasuah di China kalau kena tangkap apa jadi ?? kalau di Malaysia lagi si perasuah dinaikkan pangkat !!

  12. I think Annie's message is: The Chinese Malaysian say they have been discriminated and oppressed in Malaysia. However, it is not so and it seems they have a 'big mouth' and can slander anytime without fear of any repercussion. They also make 'big money'and their ethnic group is the richest in Malaysia. If that is so, where is the discrimination and oppression. In fact this minority group is the one oppressing and discriminating the majority ethnic group. If you want to look at real discrimination and oppression, then you should look at Myanmar and China.

Jual ice-cream katok RM1 each (our money) there also can become billionaire easily.

The question is, why the Chinese and even Indians don't want to go back there to their ancestor's land? Stay on here and claiming themselves " being oppressed and discriminated" by the Majorities here?

DAP and Red Beans Army why want to kapla pening and jump around like popcorns here where you have all the freedom in the world to go wherever you like? Why?

  16. Annie, both examples are extreme. Why not compare Malaysia to one of the more Westernized Countries e.g UK, Australia etc for a comparison on the treatment of minorities.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Anonymous8 July 2013 17:18

what's extreme about it? and why compare only to a more westernized country like UK/Australia? Don't forget what was done to the Aborigines of Australia, and what Roman conquests had done to the Picts and minor tribes in olden days UK.

also Annie - what you've been writing in this particular post is exactly what I have been thinking. The way some people talk, as they hang out in trendy coffee places like Starbucks, is like they've been deprived of some of their very fundamental rights by the rulers of this country :/

    ReplyDelete
  18. To me they are extreme for the following reasons - Myanmar is a very backward country at the moment and China is communist. So I would see them as being in different situations. Malaysia is trying to achieve Vision 2020 and so should be compared vis a vis the more developed democracies. No point talking about ancient Rome (might as well talk about how man treated the buffalo or woolly mammoths). Yes, Australia and the aborigines would be a more appropriate comparison don't you think? I never said that these westernized countries were good. I just said that if she looked hard enough there would be more appropriate comparisons. Guess it's very hard to understand what another person is getting at just through these short comments.
