This is just in from NST SMS alert -
27/03 Veteran newsman Zainon Ahmad or Pak Non, 70, died of liver cancer at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Kota Baru, Kelantan this afternoon.
I'm not a close associate of arwah Pak Non, but he played an important role in giving me a chance to a better life many years ago.
I will always be thankful for what he did for me.
I will also always remember him as a kind and gentle person.
May Allah bless his soul and place him among those whom He favored.
Alfatehah.
Al Fatehah.May Allah place his soul among the salihin .Amin.
ReplyDeleteAl Fatehah....Pak Non was a fatherly figure to many young journalists. Although a seasoned newsman, he was not a 'show-off' to rookie reporters, always willing to share his knowledge of the trade with them.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Pak Non was not bestowed a 'Datukship' reflects his simple ways of the life he lived.
Al-Fatihah. May Allah SWT place him among the blessed ones. Ameen
ReplyDeleteFarewell to Zainon Ahmad. I do not know him but had read his writings in New Straits Times and lately in the Sun. He will be missed. Condolences to his family. AlFatehah...
ReplyDeleteAlfatihah. He never gave up on the Press/Media Council as a means to elevate the status of journalists. It would be a nice tribute to Pak Non if we journalists push hard for the establishment of the Counc.
ReplyDeleteMay his soul rest in peace. Innalillah.
RIP, he was a true gentleman...witty, charming, an endless ocean of wit. I was at the NST while he was one of the editors. Somedays he would stop by and have a chat, on literature and we would talk about who we like, why. RIP Pak Non.
