Preserving Malays' dignity

As you all probably know by now, some Malays are planning to have a "Maruah Melayu" rally on Sept 16, which is Malaysia Day.

"Maruah Melayu" means Malays' dignity.

The main objective of the planned rally was counter the recent Bersih 4 which was mostly attended by members of the Chinese community.

From the reports that I read so far, the organisers feel that the rally was necessary as the Malays were angry at the Chinese for flexing their political muscle at Bersih 4.

The Maruah Melayu people said they are going to gather half a million Malays at the Chinese-business district of Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur on that day.

It's supposed to be a show of force by the Malays to tell the Chinese not to trample on their dignity.

Personally, I think the whole idea is silly.

Bersih 4 was not about the Chinese wanting to chase the Malays back to their kampung or into the jungle.

They were demanding for the country to be governed better or something like that....if I was not mistaken.

The Malays were in fact welcomed to join it, but only a few turned up.

Yes, there were some stupid people doing stupid things such as stomping on the picture of PM DS Najib Razak, but I believe they were isolated incidents.

Well, too bad because DAP was the main driving force behind Bersih 4, and therefore there was not many Malays at the rally.

Most Malays still see DAP as a Chinese entity which doesn't really care much about them.

Still, I don't feel that the Chinese were out to get the Malays that day.

Okay, fine, that's my personal opinion. You all may disagree with me.

Nonetheless, what kind of rally it's going to be this Maruah Melayu thing if they really want to proceed with it?

Are the participants going to walk along Jalan Bukit Bintang chanting " Cina pegi balik Tongsan!" (Chinese go back to China)?

That's not very nice, isn't it?

I'm sure the rally will be covered by not just the local media but also those pesky foreign ones.

Images of Malays shouting their head off telling their Chinese fellow citizens to go back to China will be broadcasted world wide.

Everyone who watch it will probably ask, "Who are these bunch of ugly racists?", and someone will reply, "Oh, they are Malays. Well, they are that kind of people. Lazy some more. Not like the Chinese."

Well, that's not really going to restore Malays' dignity, right?

I think if the organisers still insist on having the rally, they better make sure such scenario doesn't happen.

Otherwise, instead of memelihara maruah Melayu (defending Malays' dignity), they are just going to tarnish it.

And they better get a bigger crowd than Bersih 4.

Otherwise, it's going to further embarass the Malays because for every single Chinese in this country, there are at least three Malays.

Therefore the Maruah Melayu rally must be three times bigger than Bersih 4.

Please, I don't want them to turn up by just a few hundreds and start marching down Jalan Bukit Bintang chanting that they represent Malays and their dignity.

People will laugh, okay.

Maruah Melayu nanti jadi Malu Melayu pulak.

I hope that by Sept 16, if they can't gather enough people to attend the rally, they will cancel it.

I think there are better ways for the Malays to preserve their dignity.

For one thing, they should work together to clean up their current political mess.

That mess is actually the reason why the Chinese turned up by the hundreds of thousands at Bersih 4.

They went to the rally on their own without anyone sponsoring them.

I personally know two Chinese Malaysian ladies who flew in from Hong Kong just to attend Bersih 4. They paid their own flight tickets.

Maybe Malay leaders should swallow their pride and meet to settle their differences which were the actual cause of the mess.

That way, there would not have been Bersih 4.

Can't they sacrifice a bit for the sake of the ordinary Malays that they led and all the other Malaysians?

Is it so difficult for them to do that?

I really hope the Malays can get out of this mess and go back to improving themselves so that they can catch up with the Chinese community which is obviously more prosperous and disciplined.

Shouting at the Chinese and trying to scare them will not help the Malays preserve their dignity.

They should instead unite to overcome their problems and work together to improve their well being.

  1. Sallam Annie,

Pandangan saya, demo patut diteruskan sahaja,

  3. Flexing muscle like this will defeat all Bugis did all these while, meaning whatever Bugis did wasted. Not that want to defend him but it shows what a moron team he got circled him. So whatever those donations (read : real donations) to this and that chinese schools, the communications with those taikors, alll these efforts that incurred the wraths of malay people will soon be deemed worthless.

In the end those schools got free money got land, some got land titles allll for free. Bugis gave to them as to be soft to them trying to coax them vote for BN.

Thats why this will play into DAP hands. Got support even without to pay a single cents. Money is king.

  5. Malays was not amplifies with that bersih 4 rally, which dominate by the Chinese ,neither they feel their Malay dignity has been trash .
They are just watching and let it go ,as long as the Chinese don't go overboard.

There's no such thing as Maruah Melayu being challenged , only maruah Najib .
It's very wrong if the organizer , were chanting about maruah Melayu .

  6. As soon as they announced the proposed red shirt rally, they have lost it for the Melayu.

If they cancel, they will just be confirming that Melayu are all full of shit. Just like they keep on harping about resurrecting May 13.
If they go ahead, they will just be confirming that Melayu are full of shit saying that they are tolerant and peace loving Muslim. They might as well be calling themselves fucking racists.

And how many hours do they plan to march? 2 hours?

Let them go ahead. I am really looking forward to Sept 16. All my friends are getting ready to laugh our asses off.

Dengan hanya seorang Melayu dan sebatang mancis cukup utk membakar satu bandar org org cina.

    1. Memang Betul.

      Cara pertama:

Bakar setanggi panggil jin Dato kuning Dato hijau Dato merah Dato biru Dato putih.

      Cara kedua:

Lit up rokok yang berganja.

Telor dia memang besar. Dah tak payah cakap lagi dah, dah dapat pengiktirafan Raja pun.

  9. The best thing Malays can do to preserve one's dignity it to have the ability to stand of their own feet without the need for government or glc jobs or contracts.

This means they will need to have knowledge and skills which allow them to thrive even beyond the borders of Malaysia.

There are lots of such Malays now, even though as a percentage of the overall Malay population, it is still very small.

Remember, respect is earned, and cannot be demanded.

Also, in the era of globalisation and the internet, universal values have developed. Don't you wonder why:

    a) Europe, despite its economic woes, is again opening its borders to refugees from Syria in the millions?

    b) The refugees fled from their own country?

    1. The refugees are fleeing because USA and Europe bombed them so where should they flee to?

    2. 20:13

They could flee to Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey or the many muslim countries in the middle east, where they'll be surrounded by millions and millions of fellow muslims.

It really puzzles me why of all places, they chose to seek refuge in pork eating countries!

  10. Hi Annie. This perhimpunan Melayu thing is gibberish in its own form. This is planned as to divert the attention from 1MDB fiasco. Just like the low yatt thing. Najib's think thank thought they can take d rakyat for a rollercoaster ride. The people who 'pijak' or stomped the pictures may be were paid. They might be agent provocateurs and now they want Himpunan Melayu whatever just to save najib's face. Come on lah ..surely u can do better than this..Rakyat tak bodoh.. ask any Malay on the street, I met a makcik at Pasar Keramat talking about the hardship with Najib's leadership, go to any mamak shop, even if u ask 10 persons, 11 would say they really want Najib to step down. Now, u want to shovel our throat with this racial thing, sorry dudes. We wont buy it anymore. Najib, how many layers of skin do u have??

  12. Maruah Melayu can only be preserved if Malays can get rid of a corrupt leader named Najib Razak and his merry bandits. He is the reason why our maruah is at the lowest level in th eyes of the world (sama masa kita dijajah). Shame on you Najib!

  14. The chinese say only they want to be governed better. In actual fact they want political power.

Who doesn't? This is basic human instinct. Don't be hypocrites.

Just take a look in Penang lah. Is there a fair representation for all races in the state government line-up? Did Cina buat bising. They kept their mouth shut. Give lots of project cuci longkang to Melayu and announce it to the newspaper, but keep all the multi-million by majlis perbandaran to the Cina, well mostly crony also lah.

Accept it as what it is. Everyone is just as racist, if not more.

The Cina would have joined Sekolah Kebangsaan looongggg time ago but they choose to have their own. As Malaysian, if they had seen Sekolah Kebangsaan standard has gone down, they could've send their teachers in to improve it, but they did not.

    1. In any organisation, it is top management that will determine the organisation's performance.

Sek Kebs are basically Malay schools. Why should parents waste their time trying to change mind sets that won't change?

That's why Chinese go to Chinese schools which they feel are staffed by more open minded, enlightened and concientious people who have their childrens' interests at heart. If they have more money, some might choose international schools, or send their children oversea.

    2. That's selfishness at play. School is just one example.

Many among that community refuse to integrate into the mainstream society. This is not unique to Malaysia alone. Even in America, they have the whole town all to themselves.

If you feel that sense of belonging, all other excuses don't matter anymore.

Sekolah Kebangsaan is a national school. If the majority who attends national school is Malaysia, then the school will acquire Malay traits. If you have a mixed race in a society, that society itself will take on different form.

  15. Under BN, political power determines the size of the share in the economy.

Every project that its government handed out, was distributed in accordance with political influence and / or interest.

Therefore for many years, there were UMNO quotas, MCA quotas, MIC quotas etc..

Melayu like to complain about Chinese being indifferent to national education, and insensitive to the religion of Islam.

In actual fact there are many Chinese, Muslim Chinese especially, can speak Bahasa well and supportive of the Nation's struggle. Being in Islam, too, allow them to understand the view point of the Melayu.

UMNO does not take care of these Chinese. While no mualaf is asking for any special treatment, the least UMNO can do is to do something when they are unfairly treated, just to help someone sesama agama.

There are many instances of bias abuses and unfairness levelled out at Chinese converts, even more so when they dare sound out their support to BN government, or to show sympathy towards the Melayu, from especially amongst the non Muslim Chinese, but UMNO secara khusus and Melayu secara amnya had done nothing to defend them.

Even more so there are modernised Melayu who every now and then call the Chinese converts as Melayu Celup. Who the hell exactly wants to be Melayu so much?

So all these talks about encouraging Chinese to learn Bahasa and be more sensitive to Muslim beliefs are just bull shit the whole bull shit and nothing but bull shit.

In Perak, when it was under UMNO governance a Malay cum Chinese convert company who was qualified was denied the pipe laying job because the job was under MCA quota.

Ali Rustam did the same and therefore when he was denied the job by Chinese tsunami the phrase "PADAN MUKA" suddenly cropped up.

Now in Johor, you may see in newspapers programs after programs with faces of Melayu, but in actual fact the movers are mainly chinese nons. Even Tan Cher Puk the loser of Johor Jaya also gets a jawatan.

UMNO cakap tak serupa bikin. Kubur is your next destination. Ameen.

  17. Now Chinese form 25% of the population.

Recently, a wave of Chinese remembered the advice periodically given by those UMNO members who advocated emigration of those not happy with Malaysia, and left the country for work, business or permanent residency.

One day, when Chinese population falls to 10 or even 5% of total, will there still be need for 'struggle' for NEP benefits, and the need to be 'united' lest Malays will be sidelined?

As the saying goes, 'the earlier, the better',

That said, a peaceful demonstration will show Malaysia to be a mature democracy..

    Fakta no.2
Sebab mengikuti logik Melayu, yang datang dulu adalah TUAN, First Come First serve.

    Fakta no.3
Kenapa adanya kategori ORANG ASLI di Malaysia? Apakah beza ORANG MELAYU dengan ORANG ASLI. p.s: Jangan kata tak wujud ORANG ASLI ataupun ORANG MELAYU sama dengan ORANG ASLI ya, kata ORANG ASLI sama dengan ORANG MELAYU sama dengan kata Epal sama dengan Oren.
