More important things in life

My father's condition seems to be improving.

Alhamdulillah.

But I'm very careful not to get my hopes too high.

Praying for things not to take a turn for the worse again.

Hopefully Pa will fully recover and be happy again with Ma and me.

You see, when your personal life is in crisis, the rest doesn't really matter.

If my father had died the other day, I don't think I would have cared whether Malaysians still want DS Najib Razak as their PM or otherwise.

I would have done almost anything to save my father's life.

If Lee Hsien Loong had come over to me that day and said that he can save my father if I become a Singaporean, then I think I would be willing to be a Singaporean.

Being a Singaporean is not so bad anyway.

For one thing, Hsien Loong as their PM is handsome, okay.

And then they don't have to worry over things that they don't really understand such as the 1MDB mess.

Honestly, I don't really understand the whole thing.

Do you all really understand it?

Don't pretend, ok.

At the end of it, all I can make out was that it was Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad versus Najib.

It's hard for me to believe that Najib stole the billions of ringgit so that he can buy Rosmah nice handbags.

At the same time, it's equally hard to believe that Dr Mahathir was being malicious and intentionally wanted to harm this country which he built for more than two decades just because he doesn't like Rosmah's hairstyle.

Due to my lack of comprehension of the issue, I decided not to attack Najib but defended Dr Mahathir.

I simply have to defend the handsome old man because he had done good for Malaysia and those who attacked him are real mercenaries assholes.

But I don't really blame those assholes too.

They needed to earn a living and the only way they knew how was to be the assholes that they were.

Sure, their children need to eat and go to school too. They needed the money for all that.

Back about being a Singaporean...it's really not so bad.

My mother's side of the family were mostly living there.

Some of them have become Singaporeans after renouncing their Malaysian citizenship.

They are not bad people at all.

They just wanted to be practical about their future.

Similarly, I don't find Singaporeans who renounced their citizenship to be Malaysians as being bad people or traitors to Singapore.

It's just the practical thing to do for them.

I even suspect that they actually still love their original country even though they are no longer its citizens...okay, may be just a bit of love is  still there.

Whatever it is, I don't resent them.

I'm writing this after reading BigDog's

Good riddance

I'm writing all these because I feel that I need to be honest, especially with myself.

There are more important things that matter to me than questions such as who is our PM and whether he stole people's money to pay his wife's hair treatment bills.

If he did all that, I believe Allah will sooner or later punish him.

I can make all the noises against him, but in the end it's Allah who knows better and will punish him if he's indeed guilty.

No need for me to get all stressed out over it.

Instead, I better concentrate my energy on more immediate things in my life such as taking care of my Pa and Ma.

If they are healthy and happy together, then I will be happy too.

Najib and Rosmah want to be happy also I don't mind.

Hopefully they really didn't steal those billions of ringgit.

If they didn't, then I wish them all the happiness in the world.

  3. Dear Annie

Yes. Do take care of your Pa and Ma. Don't take them for granted ie that they will always be there. They won't. And when they're gone, then only we will feel the pain and loss.. Just like me. So sad thinking of my deceased parents.. Alfatihah to them

  6. Annie weh, you have friends in all sorts of places, if not in Wisma Putra then maybe some of your friends can introduce you to someone who works at Wisma Putra. Do this and ask them about Rosmah abroad.

Sticking your head in the sand while continuing to hope the world is not a mean bad place is not a solution.

  7. Annie,

"...It's hard for me to believe that Najib stole the billions of ringgit so that he can buy Rosmah nice handbags..."

    Don't be so naive, Annie.

We now know that the money has been taken to fill the UMNO warchest.

We also know those monies are hidden all over the world and will be brought back to Malaysia to fund UMNO's election effort.

Surely you have not forgotten that Michael Chia fellow who was caught with RM millions in his briefcase?

I have no doubt that there are many other ways, both legal and illegal,to transport cold hard cash in and out of Malaysia for UMNO needs.

Those handbags and rings for Rosmah are peanuts compared to what is really out there.

You may find it hard to believe that the super-rich consider such rings and handbags to be peanuts but I can assure you that they do.

Let me give you an example.

How would you like to just go out and buy a RM500,000 Mercedes just because the GST is being introduced? I mean, if you buy it pre-GST, you "save" about RM30,000 you see :)

BTW, you already have a 18 month-old Mercedes which is worth maybe RM300,000 new.

Yes, I was riding in exactly such a RM500,000 Mercedes about 3 weeks ago - it was bought pre-GST and delivered about 5 weeks ago post-GST.

He gave away that 18 month-old Merc to a relative. Yes, "gave away" - for free.

And that, Annie, is how life really works at the top and I have not even mention the Rolexes... or have I previously? :)

So, the money is gone - most of it into secret accounts for UMNO and some of it into private accounts for services rendered in hiding the secret UMNO accounts.

Just be patient and wait until PRU14 when you will see a lot of the money coming back to help UMNO/BN win.

Don't worry, you can rest assured that they will bring some of the money back. After all, they have been doing it for years :)

    2. lufang,

I am a Malaysian and I have been through a couple of overseas universities which are considered amongst the best in the world in some areas of research.

I do think the Malaysian education system is substandard as I have been exposed to education systems which are vastly superior to Malaysia's.

I don't hate Malaysia, I just don't like where it is going.

  8. HIPPOCRATIC OATH: Modern Version

"I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:
I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.
I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of over-treatment and therapeutic nihilism.
I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.
I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.
I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.
I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.
I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.
I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.
If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help."

    — written in 1964 by Louis Lasagna, Academic Dean of the School of Medicine at Tufts University, and used in many medical schools today.

  9. Annie, if smart and educated girl like you (ex TKC some more) also don't understand what is wrong with 1MDB, susahlah macam ni. To me it is a clear cut corruption. 1MDB can't even claim incompetent management since they obviously don't have any real honest investment strategy to start with. Borrowing money to invest in dodgy funds is not investment strategy. Borrowing money without clear way on how to pay the loan + interest is not investment strategy. 1MDB is at best a ponzi scheme and at worst a daylight robbery.

    Dear Mr Lee Hsien-loong,

The Hong Kong University Students’ Union protests against the imprisonment of Amos Yee. [30 June 2015]

. . . . . Ever since the independence, Singaporeans have endeavored and thus built the current prosperity and renowned reputation. Your government yet suppresses freedom of the press. Your barbaric deed and means in handling oppositions have long been notorious and denounced worldwide. Is your government to be heir of the former tyranny and continue trampling human rights; no matter how prosperous and extravagant you would be, you would never be able to wipe out such opprobrium of mis-governance and harm. If you are not willing to witness the country being belittled by an iron-fisted regime, you must turn over a new leaf and take a different course unlike your father. You must refrain from any incrimination against someone’s articulation and return freedom to all Singaporeans . . . .

In retrospect, not tolerating the great torment afflicted by the Imperial Japanese Army, our alumnus Lim Bo-seng once attempted to save Singapore from those militaristic authoritarian, who eventually, and humbly, sacrificed himself. The Lim Bo Seng Memorial has been erected for over sixty years, but there is no difference between the deeds of the Imperial Japanese Army and the current regime. They exploit freedom of Singaporeans and insult the spirit of the martyr. If Mr Lim were to witness such sin over the weak, despair and agony must be felt for Amos and the Lion City.
