My budget wish list

Tomorrow is Budget Day.

I expect PM DS Najib Razak to present a good budget which will sooth the unhappiness caused by the recent fuel price hike (or subsidy rationalization exercise or whatever you want to call it), the GST, and other not so nice stuff we Malaysians have been bitching about lately.

I, however, believe that I better leave the intricate details of the budget to experts or more senior bloggers who are more familiar with these sorts of things.

Nonetheless, as a common rakyat, I do have a little budget wish list which I want to share here.

Just ordinary stuff that I want, which, maybe you all too are wishing for.

1. House

I need a house in KL. The other day someone scolded me for living like a bum without my own place. I actually cried because of it.

How to buy a house in KL while the property market is so expensive like crazy these days.

I hope Najib can push in the budget for PR1MA's affordable housing scheme be accelerated. I want to apply for a unit.

I also hope Najib could do something to break that mafia-like REHDA (Real Estate and Housing Developers Association) cartel which currently monopolize the housing industry, by controlling everything related to the industry, from prices of most building materials to the marketing of property for public demand. I even suspect that they control some of the related NGOs as subtly suggested in this post by my friend BIGCAT:
PR1MA

2. Car

I need to get a new car.

This time I am going to buy a Proton.

Nope, I am not kidding you. I want to buy that Proton Iriz.

Based on the reviews so far, I believe it's a good car....and it's cute.

I also want to support the country's local auto industry.

So, hopefully the Najib's administration could give some incentives in the budget for potential made-in-Malaysia car buyers like myself.

3. Food.

I hope this budget will have some sort of mechanism to better control the prices of food.

For me, food is relatively very expensive these days.

And I am not talking about having lunch at a Japanese restaurant and dinner at a French one, okay.

Nasi campur biasa dengan teh O ais limau je dah sampai RM6 or RM7 sekarang ni.

Controlling the prices of food has always been the mantra of the ministers concerned but the whole bloody thing keep increasing over the years.

Sekarang ayam sudah berapa harga???

I don't know how Najib want to do it, but, it will be so good for him if he can do something about this food stuff price thing in the budget.

If food prices still keep increasing after this, then I really need to seriously consider getting myself a rich permanent boyfriend so that he can buy me breakfast, lunch and dinner....okay, just kidding.

4. Allocation to make ministers cleverer

Yes, this budget should have such an allocation.

No point in Najib doing good stuff but the message about it being messed up by his sometimes quite stupid ministers.

Maybe, the allocation can send some of them to public relation school where they can learn not to shoot Najib's feet by making not so clever statements. They can also learn how to plan and handle the media while dealing with sensitive issues.

Why this is in my budget wish list?

When "Menteri-Menteri bongok" wrongly explained as "good for government"

Okay, enough la of my budget wish list. Actually, I got more, but what's the point in asking too much. I may not even get the little bit I listed here today.

For some preview of the Budget, you can read it here;

  1. Reasonable wish Ms Annie.Am a marhaen so I wish for BR1M (not for me) for my poor(er) "men at work".

Hopely Najib could still feel "denyutan rakyat" in his budget.

  2. Plain simple question: why didn't they wait until after the Budget before withdrawing further subsidy of petrol?

Sure some goodies in the Budget. The effect of the 20 sen increase would not have been so bad to the average citizen if they have to pay that after hearing some Budget goodies.

Nobody co-ordinate such things for the gomen? Only advisers, no co-ordinators? Aiyoyo, how man, Najib gomen?

Go to Johore. Buy one in Forest City, Dangar Bay, what have you, hehe.

Seriously, I dunno economics. Could it be more houses built, more expensive ones, more money floating around in the economy, doesn't matter in whose pockets?

Najib's liberalization, remember? Otherwise he can't get IMF, World Bank and the like to certify that Malaysia is a developed country the day after to morrow.

Why, people joke about buying Proton? I hope not. That's the national car industry, been producing good cars and should be supported as much as possible. Love of country, patriotism, etc.

  6. Good of you wanting to support the country's local auto industry.

    Way to go, babe.

  7. Hahaha, hohoho, hihihihi - "Allocation to make ministers cleverer"!

Woi, Annie, your PMO contacts will deny you entry to PMI, baby.

"the message .. messed up by his sometimes quite stupid ministers." Ministers only? Others as well, don't you think? Even Bernama sometimes writes report with lousy English. "Hanging" kind of reports, too - not enough backgrounder or related news given on some reports.

"Maybe, the allocation can send some of them to public relation school where they can learn not to shoot Najib's feet by making not so clever statements?" If you mean those who talk about retention of the Sedition Act, I think they are among the cleverest. 170 out of 191 UMNO Divisions want it retained, what. Sure clever one.

Sorry if I appear to be a wet blanket. That's because the weather has often been wet under Najib.

  8. Keadaan sekarang, budget list hanya kosmetik.

  9. Annie dear, you can come live in my house for free. And I'm planning to buy the Proton Iriz Premium for going to the mesjid, the pasar or supermarket. The rest of the time you would be welcome to use it. How about that to help you live comfortably in the city?

'.....The same Najib stlye will present the Budget with his expresion and 'pauses' and high pith on some words or new words that we keep wondering what it it all about....'

  19. These are among the Budget highlights as per theStar -

    * With GST implementation, Sales and Services Tax (SST) abolished, resulting in revenue foregone of RM13.8bil

    * RM690mill net revenue collection from GST

Can anybody explain why "revenue foregone of RM13.8bil" and GST collection only RM690 million?
