Tonight I'm really tired. Just now I almost dozed off while driving home. I have been working extra hard for quite a few weeks now. Got this big project to be settled at work.
So, tonight I'm just going to ramble a bit on speculations about the outcome of the coming Umno elections before knocking off. Well, I'm only interested in the fight for the Wanita chief post and vice-president posts.
This blog's Wanita Umno chief poll is closing tomorrow. There are now almost 1,000 votes casted. Hopefully by the time it actually closes, there will be more than that. So far in the poll, challenger Datuk Maznah Mazlan is leading very far ahead of Raihan Sulaiman Palestin and incumbent DS Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
But, my sources within the movement told me that at the moment, Shahrizat and Maznah are neck to neck in the race to the finishing line with Raihan trailing far behind. I was actually told that Shahrizat hold a razor thin advantage to win over Maznah.
As for the vice-president race, Umno insiders whom I know, told me that the poll which I conducted on it also doesn't reflect the actual sentiment among Umno delegates.
In the poll, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir led the others by a huge margain, followed by DS Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, DS Mohd Ali Rustam, DS Hishammuddin Hussein, DS Shafie Apdal and TS Isa Samad.
My source however said as at the moment, the actual order of things in the VP race is as follow : 1. Zahid 2. Shafie 3. Mukhriz 4. Ali Rustam 5. Hishammuddin 6. Isa.
As we are very well aware, what ordinary Malaysians (such as readers of this blog) expect from Umno is actually different from what the Umno delegates themselves want.
However, I believe that it is now for the Umno delegates to decide whether they want their party to offer the best leadership line up for themselves or for Malaysians at large.
If they choose their leaders based on just satisfying their own selfish needs, then I believe it would be the end of them in the 14th general election.
