Muhyiddin hints at running for Gambir state seat
Well, of course the follow up story is this
Johor BN determines to ensure Muhyiddin's defeat
Typical Khaled Nordin's statement.
Anyway, I think Muhyiddin's possible move to Gambir has the same reasoning as my thoughts in my last post
Yup, if Muhyiddin really decides to contest that state seat, then it's an obvious move to prepare himself to be the first Pakatan Harapan menteri besar of Johor.
As for the parliament seat he said he's contesting, I'm quite sure that he will defend Pagoh.
There were talks that he's to contest Muar which BN is holding by a slim majority in 2013 but that one was given to the boy Syed Saddiq.
I doubt Muhyiddin will risk going to another parliamentary constituency where his chances of winning are not so reassuring.
Back to that Gambir seat, it should be noted that in 2013, Johor MIC chief M. Asojan received 8,705 votes (46.6 per cent) to win by a razor thin majority of 310 against the then Johor Pas chief Mahfodz Mohamed who received 8,395 votes (44.9 per cent) and two independant candidates. At that time, Gambir had 21,382 voters consisting Malays (55 per cent) Chinese (40 per cent) and Indians (4 per cent).
In the previous general election in 2008, Asojan had won in Gambir by a majority of 2,463 after he received 8,190 votes (58.8 per cent) as compared to Pas candidate Kasim Ibrahim who received 5,727 votes (41.1 per cent). That year, Gambir had 18,724 voters with almost the same racial demographic as in 2013.
So, I think if Muhyiddin is really going to Gambir against Asojan, his chances of winning are actually quite good.
As it goes, even if Pakatan fails to capture Putrajaya but captures Johor, Muhyiddin can become the state's menteri besar again.
That would be quite something, I think.
For instance, I do wonder how will be the relations between a Pakatan state government led by Muhyiddin and the Johor palace.
For context, read this,
A tale of two former MBs
That would be awkward, I think.
Well, whatever it is, I still think the chances of Pakatan capturing Johor are quite slim. As I wrote previously, I only gave at most 35 per cent of that happening.
Bear in mind that in 2013, about 83 per cent of Malays who voted in Johor sided with BN. This has always been the case in Johor, which is the Umno's tiang seri.
However, I think Johor BN should not rest on its laurels and instead go head on against the Pakatan threat.
Well, the best should be, in my humble opinion, for Khaled himself to go against Muhyiddin in Gambir.
Seriously okay.
After all, the guy said Johor BN will ensure Muhyiddin's defeat.
What better way than he himself defeating Muhyiddin, right?
Hey, if former MB TS Abdul Ghani Othman can face off with DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang in the Chinese majority Gelang Patah in 2013, surely Khaled can do the same with Muhyiddin this time. At least it would be a more even fight as Gambir is a Malay majority constituency.
If Ghani can be so brave to lead the charge at the frontline, surely Khaled can do the same instead of contesting a safe seat.
Well, I really hope Khaled is brave too.
Really.
Interestingly, Gambir is part of Ledang, which Umno division used to be headed by Ghani.
Hmmm....unless Khaled wants to get Ghani out of retirement to fight Muhyiddin there for him....interesting isn't it?
That's a possibility, right?
Khaled and Ghani at Saujana on the day Johor BN announced its candidates for the 2004 general election |
Hmmm....I don't think so. That's not going to happen.
Ghani may even get angry with me for suggesting it.
Sorry Datuk Ghani.
I''m just kidding a bit on that part, okay.
Well, I still prefer Khaled to fight Muhyiddin in Gambir, anyway.
That would be a real macho fight for the Johor MB seat, don't you think?
Whatever it is, I think this potential Muhyiddin versus Khaled in Gambir may even eclipse that fight at
This build up for the Battle of Johor is getting very interesting indeed.
誠正勤樸??? for someone supporting BN??? That's an oxymoron!
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as ‘macho’ and bravery when it comes to BN and its leaders lately Annie. On stage in front of their people, they talked tough as if they’re so strong and invincibles but in reality they’s just bunch of cowards.
ReplyDeleteJust take a look at the self-confessed Bugis warrior who talked big and ridiculed other parties but refused to register PH as official coalition and deregistered PPBM a day before dissolving parliament. That is not an action of a warrior isn’t it?
Lately, they’re overly cautious to make their next moves. Procrastinating and always waiting untill last minutes to make a decision. Waiting other people to reveal their cards before revealing theirs. This is not a trait of a ‘macho’ warrior. That is cowardice.
BN are always cautious and afraid what PH gonna do next. With Mahathir at the helm, PH is always full of iniatives.
Famous with “ a thousand iniatives a minute” catchphrase in the 80’s, Mahathir brought discipline and vision to the opposition coalition. And this very unsettling to Pendekar Bugis. The man of action versus the man who dithering in making decision.
The fact that they always waited for PH to make the first moves showed the guy himself is clueless what to do next. Always on the look out of what PH have in store so every move would give maximum advantage to their side.
Now they’re anxious to reveal their election candidates. Prefering to wait until PH have finished revealing theirs. We probably get to see their list probably on the eve of nomination date.
With the power of incumbency, each move and action perfectly planned and choreographed right down to details as to ensure maximum advantage to ruling coalition; regardless of damages inflicted and prevailing public opinion. They’re not afraid to play dirty if that what it takes to win the elections.

Muhyiddin as the next Johor's MB is good for Johorean and Malaysian as a whole. He should be the best MB to arrest and alleviate the over-zealous sales of state land and homes, freehold to foreigners.
ReplyDeleteIf KN is in a different party, everything will be easy for him.
DeleteHe is now caught between a bad party or more correctly bad boss, and good voters who really want him to be their MB. pity him really.
In addition to that, the truth is, Khalid, Ghani and Muhyiddin they are not being enemies to each other. They are not in a rooted adversary. They are one, as far as their struggle, party principium, as Johoreans and shared history are concerned.
DeleteThey still bear many distinctive ruling opinions. They have many things in common in relation to bangsa Johor. They still share the same ideal and expression. Their engagement of being friends, associates, and shared experiences in an institutionalized Umno have justified their friendship, comradeship and “kampongship”.
They are purportedly synonymous in the widest sense with idea and notion, and together they have shared on the same political and non-political platforms for decades.
For these reasons no matter who wins Johrean, will still be in spirit, in existence of Bangsa Johor.
We Johreans are politically matured commonality. We know how to stay firmed in our beliefs, principles of high values.
We have to fight against the spells of ignorance and arrogance. Our struggle is not about politics anymore, it’s beyond politics, a way way beyond politics.
It is to harmoniously defend and protect our beloved Tanah Air especially Johor from the notorious kleptomaniac and the covetous leaders who justify their means to destroy our democratic way of life and values, and bagged our national wealth.
We are all minded to protect Malaysia 🇲🇾 from those who stood above the law, disrespect for the rule of law and Peoples’ Democracy, individuals and collective societal freedom.
The is the meaning of being Johorean.

DeleteI do agree with you.
I am a Johorean myself.
Even though I have lived outside Johor for the past 37 years, I still consider myself as a Johorean.
You can take me out of Johor but you can never take Johor out of me.

Annie,
ReplyDeleteKhaled won’t go to Gambir.
They said that Najib had asked him to contest Pasir Gudang because that Kutty of a MP is going to lose if Kutty would stay put there.
So Khaled is going for Federal and State seats together.
They say that now any major decision and land matters involving State must get blessings first had and obtained from Palace. I wonder how much the Palace would involve as far as BN’s candidates are concerned. May be Palace can override Najib and ask Khaled to contest in Gambir instead?
That would be more interesting and proper, because, as a people-loving Palace, shouldn’t it be more becoming to let Bangsa Johor choose who should be their next MB?
If that happens, you will see the super cars of Khaled supporters from JB and KL and UK shuttling around Gunung Ledang along with the Ferraris of Bukit Gambir Ah Longs and that truly is the sign of PROSPERITY OF JOHOR.
Who needs the PRC anyway?
Now najib said dont blame him for closure of loaf bakery later najib will say also dont blame him for defeat of GE14 BN (johor or wherever) adoi...

Who wins or who loses, lets just wait until after nomination day. Some may even lose on or before nomination day.
ReplyDeleteApa akan jadi selepas Barisan Nasional jatuh?
ReplyDeleteJawapan:
