Rompin and a bit of Wesak Day love

I thought of not writing for a while as I'm Recalibrating myself, but this morning a friend sent me a Wesak Day greeting.

I was touched by the gesture, and that prompted me to add a Wesak Day greeting on the top right corner of this page (removed).

May all the good Buddhists be blessed and happy.

Well, since I'm at it, I may as well tell you all a story.

Yesterday, I went on a long drive to a town in Pahang for a gathering with friends.

It was nice to meet old friends, some of whom I had not met for years.

We talked about lots of things including our time together in college and also the present day.

One of the guys actually took a break from campaigning for the Rompin by-election to attend the gathering.

He is a BN guy.

I can't help but to ask him how were things over there in Rompin.

"Not very good," he said.

"It can't be that bad, right? It's Rompin, a BN stronghold. Surely BN can win easily, can't they?" I asked further.

"Yes, BN can win but the majority will be slashed down to as low as between 5,000 and 6,000 from the over 15,000 won by arwah JJ (the late TS Jamaluddin Jarjis)," said my friend.

I told him, I just can't believe that.

He then told us stories about some Orang Asli setting up a Pas operation room near their settlement and Felda folks there openly expressing themselves as not being very happy about a lot of things.

These never happened in Rompin before....not during the late JJ's time.

Come to think about it, no wonder PM DS Najib Razak made this announcement yesterday;

Kenyataan Media YAB Perdana Menteri Mengenai Projek Perumahan Generasi Baru FELDA di Parlimen Rompin

I hope that will do the trick.

It will not look well at all for BN if its majority in Rompin is to be reduced by so much.

Rompin is considered a rural constituency and therefore BN should not have a problem there.

The next general election will be extra tough for BN if a place like Rompin could be penetrated by Pas.

Furthermore, Rompin is located just next to Pekan which is Najib's constituency.

Hopefully BN election workers will go all out over the next few days to improve things.

I wish I can suggest a few things for them to do, but since I'm just an observer now, I think I shouldn't.

Nanti orang kata pandai memandai pulak.

I leave that to the Najib administration's brilliant strategists and excellent media generals.

Okay, that's all for politics today.

I'm going out to play bowling with my new boyfriend later.

Really, I got a new boyfriend.

He is coming over to pick me up for bowling after he's done with his Wesak Day prayers at the temple.

I kinda like religious boys these days.

My last boyfriend, the atheist was a bloody bastard, actually. Treated me like dirt.

Well, enjoy your lovely Sunday everyone.

Cheers.

  1. The first teaching ever given by the Buddha was to five student monks in a deer park. The Buddha spoke of the Four Noble Truths he had discovered while struggling for enlightenment, which are the central teachings of Buddhism. It was the Buddha's first awareness that life brings with it illness, age, misery and death that lead him to search for a deeper understanding of how we live, and ways to end the experience of suffering through the eightfold path of emancipation from sengsara.

  2. Saya memang mengharapkan keputusan PRK Permatang Pauh dan Rompin menjadi 'waking up called for Najib"

Tapi saya rasa jangan haraplah!

Kasihani lah parti keramat orang Melayu supaya tetap unggul hingga berzman zaman lagi!

  4. Even the rural folks are damn pissed with Najib. Although they may not be bothered about 1MDB, they are feeling pinch of having to pay debts of 1MDB while Najib,Rosmah, Riza and Jho Low are having a field day enjoying teh stolen money from the poor folks. I heard that apart from Ptg Pauh, even at Rompin Najib posters are being displayed. Well at least his "brilliant strategist" knows that the whole country does not want to be reminded of Najib in any way, even the orang asli. A reduced majority for UMNO in Rompin is considered a loss of their stronghold.

  7. Some Kiss We Want (Rumi Poem)

There is some kiss we want with
our whole lives, the touch of

    spirit on the body. Seawater
begs the pearl to break its shell.

    And the lily, how passionately
it needs some wild darling! At

night, I open the window and ask
the moon to come and press its

    face against mine. Breathe into
    me. Close the language-door and

    open the love-window. The moon
won’t use the door, only the window.
