Please let Anifah do his job

I was a bit amused when I read this story the other day,

Sabah not a political football, Rahman tells Philippines 

I know that the Foreign Minister is a Sabahan,  but he is definitely not Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

The Foreign Minister is DS Anifah Aman.

Rahman Dahlan is the Urban Well being, Housing and Local Government  Minister.

That's why I find it quite funny that he was making a statement as if he was a foreign minister.

Okay, I know, it's probably because he was speaking as a Sabahan member of parliament.

But still, Anifah is a Sabahan too, okay.

Whatever it is, I think for the Sabahans, it should be Chief Minister DS Musa Aman who should issue any such statement on their behalf.

It's more fitting that way.

I may be wrong but shouldn't Rahman Dahalan, as a Cabinet Minister stick to just commenting about things related to his ministry?

That should be the case if our government is to avoid people from getting confused.

In this case, Rahman Dahlan seemed to be quite angry towards the new Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte.

Well, at least that's how I felt due to the tone of the statement.

If I'm a Filipino diplomat, I would be a bit concerned after reading it.

After all, it comes from a Malaysian minister.

I think that's not really good as our government may want things to be cooled off in a more diplomatic way.

We have a good foreign ministry and Anifah has been doing quite a good job as its minister so far.

I believe Anifah knows how to handle the Duterte situation.

I heard he had even met with Filipino diplomats over the matter and things have been cooled off quite well.

As everyone knows, the new Filipino president is akin to the abrasive loud mouth US presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

I bet that many intelligent Filipinos are not taking him too seriously.

He's like one of those popular characters that people like to have as a tough leader but actually knows nothing about things.

So, there's no need to get all worked up over what he said.

We don't have to be obnoxious ourself to counter such a person.

Just be cool and let the right people handle the situation properly.

In this case, I very much prefer for Anifah to handle it as he is the best man to do so.

It's his job in the first place.

And yes please, with all due respect, I think Rahman Dahlan should give Anifah the space to do his job.

Instead of potentially making things worse by issuing such statements which have nothing to do with his portfolio, he should concentrate on his urban well being, housing and local government stuff.

And of course Rahman Dahlan also needs to take care of his jobs as BN strategic communication director and MP of Kota Belud.

The hudud thing is just a wayang

There have been quite a lot of noises coming from the Barisan Nasional component parties regarding the hudud bill tabled by Pas president DS Abdul Hadi Awang in parliament last week,

In fact, I think they made more noises than the opposition DAP, PKR and Amanah.

The presidents of MCA, MIC and Gerakan said they will resign from their ministerial posts if the bill gets through, among others.

But I think it's all just a wayang by everyone.

They all know that the bill will not pass through parliament.

At the end of the day, when it comes to voting in parliament, all the BN MPs, either they be Umno, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, or others, they will vote against the bill.

What is happening now is just for show, okay.

First of all, Hadi needs to show his people that he is doing something to get them the hudud thing after getting rid of the Erdogan last year, and therefore made the party religiously purer.

Whether they actually going to really get it is totally a different thing.

"Hey, at least I had tabled it in parliament what. It got rejected because I didn't have the majority. That's Allah's will okay. Not my fault," Hadi will say later.

The Umno guys who allowed the bill to be tabled in parliament are most likely in the whole thing from the start, because they want to make sure Hadi will keep Pas out of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

"Okay Hadi, we let you put on the show so you look all presidential for your Islamist party. We understand that your Pas people are into that kind of stuff and you need to please them. That's okay. In return, you don't hang around with those PH gang. They are bad anyway. You know that, right?" said the Umno guys.

"Okay, set," said Hadi.

Of course, all the other BN component parties are now jumping up and down.

Well, they have to do something, right?

They need to look brave to go against the bill, especially in front of the non-Muslims.

The Umno guys knew this and would let them be.

They knew those MCA, MIC, Gerakan and others can't actually do much other than making all those noises.

They even understand the need for all the noises.

Later, at the next BN meeting, the Umno guys will tell the others :

"Hey, relax. Enough of the jumping up and down. We Umno guys are going to oppose the bill with you all, okay. All the wayang is just to keep Hadi and gang away from the dastardly DAP, PKR and Amanah fellas.

"You all think we are nuts to support Pas' version of hudud. To support it is like cutting off our own balls. We are not stupid crazy like the Pas people, okay."

And then everything goes back to normal.

The best thing was that the DAP, Amanah and PKR bosses knew these were happening but all they can do is scratch their buttocks.

They can't make too much noise because back then, when they were still Pas' friends, they were okay with the whole nonsense.

"It's only for Muslims what. And if you are not doing anything bad, why you need to worry?", that was their line when it comes to hudud back then before the last general election in 2013.

So, serves them right for what's happening now.

Whatever it is, I'm not worried at all over the whole thing.

As I said, it's just a wayang.

Life goes on the way it has always been.

Really. I wouldn't worry a bit.

You shouldn't too.

And don't be too pissed with Hadi and his Pas people for the monkeying around, okay.

They need to believe that they are doing something about the hudud thing. Otherwise, they are going to feel that they are not going to paradise after they die.

Really. I'm not kidding you.

So, cut them some slack, okay.

As for the Umno and other BN guys, they simply have to play along. It's to their advantage after all. So, why not?

The DAP. Amanah and PKR guys?

They will continue to scratch their buttocks.

That's all they are good at, after all.

It's fated that way.

You all, try not to waste too much time over this stupid wayang, okay.

Hudud no big deal, Umno likely to win by-elections

At a very nice place for the weekend.

Need a proper break from all the hustle and bustle.

Been quite awhile since I have a proper rest.

These past weeks had been quite hectic.

Did not even have proper time to blog properly.

This is only my 13th post this month, the lowest ever since I started this blog more than three years ago.

The lowest number of posts per month that I did previously was 18, which was in January last year.

I will try to be more hardworking after this.

As for today, things are getting quite interesting.

I saw news that Pas president DS Abdul Hadi Awang said DAP wants to be an enemy of Islam by opposing the tabling of a private member's bill on hudud in Dewan Rakyat on Thursday.

He also said Pas is not going to negotiate with Pakatan Harapan over the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections.

I think these were all the fault of Guan Eng and his church gang for playing that Christian card too much last time.

Who asked them to fool around with the Kalimah Allah and Malay Bible issues.

Dumb idiots.

Because of those, it's now quite easy to accuse them of being anti-Islam.

That's the problem when people get too cocky.

Guan Eng and gang really know how to get cocky back then when the now dead Pakatan Rakyat appeared to be unstoppable.

Now things have turned upside down.

Fortunately for opposition supporters, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat is no longer around.

Otherwise, it would be hard for Pas people to explain how Guan Eng turned from being akin to Khalifah Umar Abdul Aziz as described by the late Pas mursyidul am, into an enemy of Islam.

Nonetheless, I'm not going to read too much into this because the way Malaysian politics are, I wouldn't be surprised if Hadi suddenly, not too long from now, turned around and declare Guan Eng a "penyelamat ummah"...just like a particular blogger....

After all, Hadi used to tell Pas people to fight Umno because it's anti-Islam for upholding the country's secular laws instead of implementing hudud.

Remember Amanat Haji Hadi ?

I think he should make another amanat (declaration) about DAP.

Well, never mind.

Doesn't really make much difference. Politicians will always be like that.

So, what if hudud is to be implemented or the existing syariah laws be enhanced?

I'm not overly worried because I'm not planning to commit any serious crime.

As I remember it, the opposition supporters, including those from DAP said exactly that when they were still friends with Pas.

So, I'm now just follow the same lah,

But I'll probably be committing minor crimes...like dating a Chinese.

I may get flogged for it if I get caught, but I guess a lot of other people will also kena. So, not too bad la.

As for the by-elections, it's certain now there will be multi-cornered fights.

Umno versus Pas versus Amanah.

I think Umno will win both Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar.

Reasons:

1. Umno is the incumbent. Incumbents always have the advantage in by-elections.

2. The opposition's votes will be split between Pas and Amanah.

3. The Chinese who overwhelmingly support the opposition are not likely to go all out to vote. Based on past by-elections, the Chinese are not really interested in things which can't change much, such as a by-election.

4. Umno did well by not fielding racists as its candidates.

Well, that should be it.

Umno not to field racists in Sg Besar and Kuala Kangsar

The latest that I heard was that BN, or to be more precise Umno, will not go into the coming by-elections of Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar exclusively to win Malays' votes.

I was relieved when I heard that.

Whom ever is that at the Umno war room who advised DS Najib Razak on the need for the party to remain moderate should be commended.

I was told that Umno will pick its candidates for the by-elections solely based on their credentials and being acceptable among the constituents.

That means they will be chosen because they are deemed to be the best when it comes to serving the people there and not because they are the Umno division chiefs or loudest in spewing racist remarks.

It's a good move by Umno because these by-elections will set the tone for the next general election two years from now.

Despite all those talks about getting back at the Chinese for their tsunami in 2013, Umno has apparently not lost its way by choosing to remain moderate.

For me, it doesn't really matter whether the Umno candidates will eventually win the by-elections or not, but what's more important is that the party has sent a message that it will not be the one to cause the division of this country along racial line.

I know that some people who wanted Umno to turn itself into an ultra Malay racist party were disappointed.

They wanted the most vile of racist characters to be fielded as candidates by Umno in those by-elections.

They argued that it will help the Malays unite and teach the Chinese a lesson.

I'm not really sure of their motives but I know what they wanted is wrong.

Umno will eventually be destroyed if it goes down that path.

Anyway, these people who wanted Umno to be like the Nazi party or the Klu Klax Klan do not understand that Malays are not by nature racists.

Their culture and Islamic faith do not shape them to be such.

They are instead conditioned to be nice people.

Given half a chance, they want to be friends with just about anyone.

They are so nice as a people that others labelled them as docile, lazy, lack competitive spirit, etc.

Whatever not so nice things you see about them were not because of themselves being Malays.

Those were more personal failings than anything else, okay.

As a people, they are nice.

They don't really mind sharing with you their country, language, identity, etc.

That's just the way of the Malays as a people.

That's why Umno cannot be the vulgar racist party that those people wanted.

The Malays will eventually reject the party if it does become such an entity.

Being racist is not nice, and Malays want to be nice.

Sometimes I suspect that those who want Umno to be racist actually want it to be dead.

They pretend to be on Umno's side but actually plotting and subtly goading it to self-destruct.

It's like planting a virus in a computer by disguising it as something good for the machine.

Bank Islam douses rumours about Zukri

A friend forwarded me this memo just now,

Do note that the memo was issued today.

I find it rather strange that Bank Islam needed to reiterate DS Zukri Samat's position as its managing director in such a manner.

I asked my friend why the Bank Islam board of directors needed to issue such a memo to the staff and what the rumours were all about.

This was his exact reply via Wassap,

"This is because someone has been spreading rumours that an ex islamic banker who is currently out of job is coming in to replace zukri. The rumour had caused uneasiness among senior management staff at b islam who like zukri to stay."

Honestly, it sounded to me that the rumours must be quite strong for Bank Islam BoD to issue such a memo.

Well, at least they did something about it.

If I was not mistaken, Bank Islam is doing rather well of late and if that's because of Zukri's effort, then why the need to replace him?

Anyway, never thought rumormongering  could have such an impact on all those sophisticated bankers....unless of course if there's some truth to it in the first place lah.

The opposition leader who can reunite them

It is true that BN is now in a mess and suffering a huge trust deficit even among its supporters.

The Umno civil war is still simmering, after all.

Fortunately for PM DS Najib Razak and his people, the opposition camp is in an even worse condition.

Pas versus DAP...

DAP versus PKR...

Pas versus Amanah...

Anwar versus Dr Mahathir...

And the latest PKR versus PKR - this one is the expose by Rafizi that if you deal with the Selangor government, you may be asked to provide money and even women to get things done.

So how?

Most of my friends who talked to me about it said they can't be bothered anymore.

They just want to continue with life and when the general election comes, they will vote according to their conscience.

No more listening to the whining of self-serving politicians.

Wasting time only.

But still, it's amazing to see the opposition being very stupid to fight each other when BN is at its weakest position ever.

It goes to show that similar to many BN politicians, they are also mainly motivated by self-interest, thus they were not willing to sacrifice anything theirs even for the opposition's greater good.

That's how they ended up fighting among themselves.

BN can count on this selfish stupidity within the opposition rank to win the next general election and the next and the next and the next....

The real danger to the ruling coalition now is that  if there is someone among the opposition leaders who could knock some sense into them and unite the whole bloody bunch.

Anwar did that for the opposition in the run-up to the 2008 and 2013 general elections.

But the guy is now back in jail and I believe has lost his capability to play the same role again.

For instance, his admirers in Pas are now out of the party after last year's Erdogan purge.

As it so happened, things in the opposition camp unravelled right after Anwar went back to Sungai Buloh for buggering a young man.

Well, what to do....men, when they are horny, they become stupid.

Nowadays they talked about Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the new opposition leader.

Okay, compared to the real opposition leader DS Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail,  Dr Mahathir is better.

Heck, I think even myself is better if given the role.

Ever heard Kak Wan spoke at a rally...try not to, okay.

But Dr Mahathir is not really for the opposition and everyone knows that.

He just wants Najib out. That's all.

He is not going to be the new opposition messiah.

The opposition leaders layan him just because they wanted Dr Mahathir to continue wrecking havoc within the BN's camp.

I'm quite sure they are not going to make him their leader.

It's too weird for them to do that.

Anyway, the handsome old man is way past 90 years old.

He wouldn't have the energy even if he wants to do it.

It's one thing to write a blog and go around on a roadshow against Najib, but another thing altogether to lead the quarrelsome opposition parties and manage the bullshit which comes with it.

So, anyone among the opposition leaders has the prospect of turning into their super hero?

Actually, there is.

DS Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The Selangor MB and PKR deputy president.

And it so happens that he is the most handsome of them all....okay, second after KJ.

Really, Azmin is the only one among the opposition leaders who could get the opposition back together.

I became convinced of it after reading this story,

Azmin wants to meet Hadi on by-election candidates

excerpts:

The Selangor Menteri Besar said he had already met with Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Pas election director Datuk Mustafa Ali to discuss on the issue.

“I have also met with Amanah leaders and Penang chief minister (Lim Guan Eng). Talks are progressing positively and I hope the choice on the candidates will be finalised soon,” he told reporters after launching the SmartSelangor Food Stamp programme here, yesterday.

See, Azmin can talk to everybody in the opposition.

He is okay with Pas, okay with DAP and okay with Amanah.

He is the only one who can do it.

That's how he became Selangor MB in the first place.

He played it very well by being the good guy who quietly sat in the middle of a fight between Pas and supporters of former MB Khalid on one side and DAP and supporters of Dr Wan Azizah on the other.

In the end, everyone agreed to give the job to him. 

Oh, Azmin is also okay with Dr Mahathir. 

He is after all the handsome old man's anak angkat since when he was studying in the US.

His former classmate at Minnesota University in the 80s told me of how Azmin took the trouble to travel all the way to New York and Washington to meet Dr Mahathir whenever the then PM visited the country.

More on that at later postings, okay.

Now with Azmin being the Selangor MB and regarded with much more respect than ever before, he has the potential to replace the now jaded and fast becoming irrelevant Anwar. 

The guy is relatively young at 52, smart, have the least baggage compared to other opposition leaders and I repeat, quite handsome.

Hey, he's more handsome than Guan Eng, okay. Admit it, you all.

Well, BN needs to prepare itself for the opposition under Azmin's leadership.

I'm quite sure it is coming to bite them hard in the next general election. 

BN's best weapon to counter this new Azmin threat is actually KJ, the only politician more handsome than Azmin in the country.

But let me write about that another day, okay.

Need to go to Tesco now to stock up the fridge.

Thoughts on Wesak Day

First of all, I'm wishing all good Buddhists a happy and peaceful Wesak day.

I have quite a number of Buddhist friends.

Except for a Sinhalese girl, the rest of them are Chinese.

They are all good people, the same as my other friends of other faiths.

Well, I chose them to be my friends because they are good people, not because they are of that or this religion.

Called one of them just now.

She's one of my closest friends from my former work place.

The girl is a very devout Buddhist.

She was on a bus to work.

It's Saturday and Wesak day some more, and there she was, on her way to work.

She said the office don't have enough people, so that she has to work today.

Things must be not so good at my former work place now that they have to make my friend work on a day like this.

Nonetheless, my friend doesn't seems to mind.

"Some of the Muslims also have to work on Hari Raya what," she cheerfully said.

My friend is always mostly cheerful and positive about life.

I admire her for it.

"So, you are not going to temple today?" I asked.

"No, tak sempat la. Two people only working today," she said.

Oh, in case you think my friend is a DAPster because she is Chinese, let me assure you that she is not.

You know lah, these days there are people who try to make especially Malays believe that all Chinese are evil DAPsters.

I know for certain that not only my friend voted for BN in the last general election, but she also helped to campaign for it.

And nope, she is not a member of MCA or Gerakan either.

That's her personal choice, okay.

Anyway, need to get up and get ready for the day now.

Got a date this afternoon.

Lunch, movie, and maybe a massage at a spa.

Just want to relax and enjoy the day.

Don't want to be grumpy grumpy,

As it makes you fat and ugly.
