The bigger, the better

I'm getting ready for an early morning ride to Malacca.

Leaving in a short while, so, thought I do a short posting.

I'm on business, not leisure.

I don't know why people go to Malacca for leisure during weekends like this.

The place will be jammed packed.

Some said it's because Malacca is even better than Penang.

I think I saw a report on it a few weeks ago....too lazy to find the link.

They attributed it to the state being ruled by BN instead of DAP.

Something like that.

Really???

Well, whatever....

But I don't really like both places.

I don't like their respective chief minister too.

Irritating guys.

Furthermore, both states are small and cramped.

And I'm claustrophobic.

Too many tourists too.

I prefer bigger places like Johor and Pahang.

Yes, I like Pahang.

One of these weekends, I'm going to take a leisurely ride along the winding coastal road of JB-Kota Tinggi-Mersing-Endau-Rompin-Pekan-Kuantan.

The whole stretch is beautiful.

No boring highway.

But today, it's Malacca.

Going off now.

ETA, two hours from now.

Safety at JB construction sites should be first class

There was this report the other day about

Man narrowly escapes death after falling into roadside hole 

in JB.

The place of the accident is not far from where I'm working now.

The unlucky man survived the fall but I agreed with him (as per reported) that he was lucky not to be impaled on the metal piling rods at the bottom of the pit.

According to the report, the man, who was riding his motorcycle was trying to avoid being hit by a car when he fell into the construction pit.

It's the project to beautify the Sungai Segget along Jalan Wong Ah Fok.

The thing is, I think those responsible for the project should have provided better safety measures for road users plying along the stretch.

I don't think that's adequate safety precaution.

If it's in a third world country, then it's okay lah, but this is Iskandar Malaysia which is supposed to be the same level as developed countries.

By right, the safety precautions at such construction sites should also be at a higher level.

They should do more as anyone could easily fall into the construction pit like the motorcyclist.

I think Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) which is in charge of the project need to make sure the contractors appointed by it to carry out the project adhere to a higher safety standard than currently practiced by them.

Development is good but it should be carried out properly so that the people are not put at an inconvenience and their life and limbs at risk.

Maybe they can do it like this one in Singapore.

See, it looks more proper and safer.

I hope IRDA can make sure their contractors can do their workslike in Singapore so that there will be no more accident such as the one involving the motorcyclist as per reported.

About big headed Red Queen and being pro-cool

Someone played the DVD of Tim Burton's

Alice in Wonderland

 last night.

I had watched it before, but still I just joined him and watched it again.

It's actually a really amusing movie.

Very well done.

I always like Tim Burton's movies.

Somehow during last night viewing, it struck me that the Red Queen resembles someone that I used to like but not anymore.

Lonely, unloved, insecure, but then later on got big headed with the little power given to her.

And she wants to chop off the head of everyone she doesn't like.

Actually, I like the Red Queen at the start of the movie as I found her quite cute, but later on she turned a bit too nasty towards the end.

Anyway, I don't really like her rival the White Queen either as I found her rather irritating.

Bad guys in movies tend to be stupid while the good guys were most of the time annoying.

So, guess I'm also a neutral as far as movies were concerned.

Not pro this or pro that.

By the way, I like that Cheshire Cat character.

The cat is cool.

Guess I'm pro-cool.

A peaceful place and a lot of bullshit

This is my favorite place now after work,

It's a little open space not far from where I'm staying now.

As you can see, there are people selling kites there.

The place is breezy in the evening, just nice for kite flying.

Parents took their kids there to do just that.

There are also youths playing small field football.

Others jog or brisk walk around the place.

I just like to sit there and enjoy the neighborly atmosphere.

Very peaceful.

I was there yesterday evening when a friend called from Kuantan.

She told me about all the nonsense people wrote about me ever since I decided to refrain from writing about politics.

"They even named my husband as you," she said with a laugh.

Well, what can I say?

I just laughed along with her.

The whole thing was the by-product of the Umno civil war.

It's the very reason why I don't want to get involved anymore.

Really, it's getting so ridiculous.

There are supporters of PM DS Najib Razak who labelled me as a "protun" for not being one of them while those who are against Najib labelled me as a "prepaid' blogger because I was deemed as not being supportive of their cause.

Then they throw all sorts of bullshit at me.

It seems that both sides are out to knock off anyone who disagree with them even for a bit.

It's really amazing how taking a neutral stance can generate so many haters.

I don't want any part of that.

It's too stupid for me.

Actually, I have not opened my laptop ever since I got here.

Too lazy to do that.

All the little posts I did since I'm in JB were done using my phone.

That's why you all don't see me putting up any link to anything now.

Very leceh to do it using my phone.

I just want to mind my own business here for a while.

Better to promote things like that lempeng joint at Kampung Tarom than all those politicians.

At least can help the small businesses here in JB a bit or something like that.

Maybe next, I will try to do a posting on where to find the best tempe goreng shop in town.

Lempeng Kg Tarom time

I just couldn't resist another visit to the lempeng joint in Kg. Tarom in JB...

The dish does wonders for me and I must say is one of the simple pleasures in life.

Nak bikin kat rumah, leceh sangat. So, its easier to just drive here for some lempeng.

Anyway, the sambal tumis here is amazing. It has hints of belacan and is pedas, very the traditional. I love it!

Takes my mind off stuff for a while.

Next treat for myself here is the Roti Jala or Roti Kirai (as how my father calls it).

Oh well... Calling it a night soon.

Cars, trucks & people on Tuesday

Its been a busy day for me, meeting friends since morning.

Seriously, JB is quite hectic since I was last here. Roads in town are constantly jammed with lots of cars and people.

Can't see what all the excitement is about though. But one thing is for sure, public transportation is important here if you want to get around.

So, I figured that I will use my father's under utilised car for my transportation needs. Now to the car workshop for a quick service.

Back in JB

I'm now back in JB, once more!!!
Its been a long emotional journey for me...

JB has changed a lot since I was here, but that's probably because I've not been back.

Have been driving around and absorbing the smells and sights of JB city for the past three hours since I arrived yesterday night.

Macam org gila takde kerja, I tell you.

Things seem to be quiet on the JB Sentral front at 3am.

It's now almost midnight... Time for some lempeng in Kampung Tarom.
