Umno can sing and dance as it wishes

Someone asked me why I'm not writing about Umno anymore since the party's recent election.

Well, for one thing I don't believe that my opinion on what's going on in Umno now matters anymore.

I'm not an Umno member and Umno is no longer a ruling party.

That means whatever happened within Umno would not affect me in any way now.

So, I don't think I should give my unsolicited advices or criticisms to Umno.

It's all up to Umno members to decide where their party wants to go from now on.

That is at least until it becomes a ruling party again when its decisions will once again affect my life.

For now, it doesn't matter to me whether it wants to go left, right or centre.

Umno members can now also have any leader for themselves and I would not be bothered about it as it's no longer my business to be concerned about their choices.

Anyway, I have said all I want about what I wished for the party before its recent election.

As for the outcome of that party election, I believe the party members had decided to go to the right.

It's basically going to remain on its Malay agenda and everything it used to champion.

I have talked to some Umno friends and they all seemed to believe that the GE14 defeat was purely because of the rakyat's rejection of Najib and his leadership.

The party, they believe was not wrong in any way.

Now that Najib is gone, they believe that the rakyat (in particular Malays) will once again support Umno. The party and whatever allies it still has will bounce back in the next general election.

They also believe that PH is just an alliance of convenience and would break-up soon.

This is especially so once Dr Mahathir is no longer around to hold them together.

That would be as early as two years from now as it was promised by the current PM that he would hold on to that job for just that period.

So, my Umno friends believe there is nothing wrong for their party to remain as it is because once the rakyat see how bad things get under PH, they would revert back their support to Umno and its allies.

Well, I'm not going to comment on that.

As I had said, it's now no longer my concern to comment on Umno members' belief.

From now on, I'm just going to comment on things which directly affect me.

Things such as those done or failed to be done by the government and the PH ruling parties.

Again, Umno is now just an opposition party. The members should know better on how to handle themselves and their party than me, who is an outsider.

That's all.

Errrr....here's a Chechen song and dance to cheer things up a bit.

    Wrong.

The New Umno is the same as the old:

    Champion of Self-Interest and Corruption.

Do you even wonder they tried to make Pandi Ali, the most disgraced AG in our history, an MTU member? Even Kedah Umno could see that was a terrible move. The guy who held up diagrams in the press conference PROVING that Najib was an even worse thief than previously suspected? What a genius.

The rest of the MTU is the same, just ancient corrupt warlords like Anus Musang and Pasir Salak.

No new blood, no new ideas.

They will just follow the same strategy that lost them PRU14.

You think the public believes that Najib was the only dirty Umno leader and the remainder are angels???

    Lawak pecah perut lah nih.

    Ohhhh, good news!

They just got Pundekar Tak Mulia, most biased Speaker in our history, to take Pandi’s place in the MTU.

    Hoorey!

    More corruption.

Let’s be clear what this bunch of rotten, recycled rubbish wants:

They want to stnad behind the Malays once again and f*ck all the money of them.

They want the return of kontrak2, fat directorships, kickbacks, and gravy train.

Nobody with an IQ over 30 believes otherwise.

    Yours is 29 kan Annie : )

    Jangan marah ye, gurau jer…

  4. Too bad. We also don't like the current President and almost all the Committee members of UMNO. If they need a change, they have to change all those who are tainted with corruption, scandals, and arrogance.

  7. Please don't throw in the towel and give up hope on UMNO yet Annie. We need reformists like you and KJ in UMNO. KJ's actions in not joining the boycott walk out of Parliament by Najib's UMNO and PAS today is much respected and we need people like KJ to make the difference in UMNO

  8. The problem with UMNO is that it is controlled by the warlords still aligned to Najib and hence will drag it down further into the abyss.

Really? So you think Khairy and gang are the minority in UMNO now? Good luck to UMNO if it is going to survive without any reforms.

  10. While it is true that a portion of the PH support came from people who just wanted Najib out, however, even with him out, it still seems like he is in control of the party. Zahid Hamidi and UMNO have not distanced themselves from him and they are still backing him up. Thus, those who supported PH to get Najib out will still not return to UMNO any time soon.

Yup, Mahathir is a man in a hurry right now. He’s always looks in a motion whenever he goes. Didn’t had time to catch his breath. At his age, time is gold. He knows it. He knows he has limited time. He had promised Anwar he would handed over the premiership to him no longer than 2 years time frame.

Right now he tries his best to follow the time frame set. His second act in a limelight not so much about developing or modernising the country. He had done that before. His focus and mind is on something else. Something he has harboured for so long. It’s smouldering on the inside.

When he first started, he has 2 goals to achieved. The first one is to knocked him off the perch which he already did. The second one is to turn the wheel of justice and rule of law, which is what he’s currently doing.

At the end of the day, hopefully someone will be find guilty and be held accountable. He then will be put in a slammer for a very long time. Like VERY LONG time. Probably more than 10 years.

And the GENIUS is currently at work. Nobody can disturb him. He will finish what he set out to do. Stay tuned. Grab a popcorn. It’s 1998 all over again..

  16. KJ and Anifah tell Zahid & Co to pi mampus!

It is up to Umno to decide how it wants to address the issue of its two MPs not participating in the protest against the appointment of the Speaker for the 14th Parliament, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.

According to Najib, the staged walkout against the appointment of Parliament Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof, was a party decision.

“That was a party decision. I leave it to the party to decide. Probably they should explain to some extent why they did what they did,” he told reporters when met at the Parliament lobby on Monday (July 16).

Najib was referring to Umno’s Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin and Kimanis MP Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, who remained seated in the House during the staged walkout.

    Well well well.

Looks like KJ, Umno's greatest asset, will soon be gone.

    Anifah too.

  17. Mahathir still have a soft spot with UMNO.He is looking at UMNO MPs with very sad feeling. In his mind it would be nice if the 50 UMNO MPs join him in Bersatu (54-3-Najib).
Deep in his heart Mahathir is a very nationalistic Malay chauvinist. His heart bleeds each time he made a decision against the interest of the Malays but he has to face to political reality. He is no longer the President of the biggest Malay political party in Malaysia

  19. Annie,

//they all seemed to believe that the GE14 defeat was purely because of the rakyat's rejection of Najib and his leadership.//

OMG!! You have to be joking, right?

Yes, Najib was a factor in UMNO's defeat but he was not the only factor.

There was the Mahatir factor, there was the Rosmah factor, there was the 1MDB factor, there was the FGV factor, there was the arrogance factor, there was the complacent factor and the list goes on and on and on.

It simply was not just Najib alone!

It also sounds like someone in UMNO is trying to throw Najib under the bus while protecting the remaining leadership group.

//They also believe that PH is just an alliance of convenience and would break-up soon//

Of cos PH is an alliance of convenience BUT I don't think it is going to break up any time soon, even when Mahatir is gone.

    Why?

Because Anwar is back on the scene and he is a supreme deal maker.

//once the rakyat see how bad things get under PH, they would revert back their support to Umno and its allies.//

Absolute madness to think that things will get worse under PH.

PH is going to do everything and anything to prove the point that they are better then UMNO/BN.

Consider this, what if PH became like UMNO/BN and start lying about non-existent successes?

AND the rakyat begins to believe what PH says?

How would UMNO win back government then?

Yes, if I, a Pakatan supporter, can consider the possibility that PH could lie to me in the future, why isn't UMNO considering that same possibility?

Maybe UMNO thinks that PH will never ever lie?

//Again, Umno is now just an opposition party. The members should know better on how to handle themselves...//

Just as it is early days for PH to get used to being in government, I think it is a bit early to expect UMNO to get used to being in opposition.

Zahid Hamidi may be the official Opposition leader but Najib Razak is acting like the REAL Opposition leader.

Najib is the only one criticisng PH, Najib is the only one taking the battle to PH, Najib is the only one countering all of PH's announcements and accusation, etc etc

Everybody else in UMNO seems to have been struck dumb, especially Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid Hamidi and his thug-like behaviour may be useful for ensuring discipline and loyalty, but thugs are seldom good leaders.

But, as I pointed out, it is early days, so I should not be criticising Zahid Hamidi.

His first act of defiance by walking out of the Dewan Rakyat seems to have achieved nothing but caused more division in UMNO with Anifah and KJ not following the walk out.

Hardly the act of a good leader.

Well, we'll see how Zahid performs as the Dewan Rakyat session continues.
