A bit on my Chinese eyes

It is Saturday, yet I'm working today. Need to help out my colleagues who are working through the weekend.

The office is rather empty today as most of my colleagues  are not working.

Got a bit of free time before the real work begins, so I decided to write this post.

It's been a week since I started this blog. I had initially wanted it to be just a place to write my thoughts on what's happening around me and my life.

It was not supposed to be a political blog at all.

Then, the Lahad Datu incident took a turn for the worse and all my thoughts became focused on the happenings there. So, for the past one week, all my postings so far were just about the Sulu gunmen crisis. My hope is for the authorities to end the threat as soon as possible with no more loss of life among our security personnel.

I was pleasantly surprised that what I wrote about the crisis attracted quite a number of readers, especially those who came via the BIGCAT blog after its new administrator Tinsel who is my friend highlighted one of my postings. Her predecessor, Aisya is also a close friend. Ai is the one who encouraged me to start blogging. This blog has also received quite a few visitors from the Helen Ang blog who also generously highlighted it in one of her postings. Thanks to them and all those who had dropped by. Hope you all will come again. I will publish all comments including those which disagree with my point of view, as long as they are not too crude or nonsensical or could get me in trouble with the law.

For this posting, I think it's only proper for me to provide a bit more info about myself, so that those of you who kindly visit this blog would know what sorts of person is behind the writings.

So, here goes :

Name : My friends call me Annie but actually my official name in the IC is a Malay name while in my family, everyone call me by my Chinese name.

Age : Not too young and not too old :)

Race : My father is a Malay while my mother is a Chinese. Officially I'm a Malay, but my upbringing is more Chinese than Malay. I consider myself both, Malay and Chinese. Anyway, I look more Chinese than Malay, complete with sepet eyes.

Religion : I am a Muslim. Maybe not a devout one according to the conventional interpretations, but still a Muslim.

Status : I'm a single with no intention of complicating my life with funny relationships...at least not in the immediate future.

Occupation : I'm an educator with some legal training background.

Political affiliation : I'm not a member of any political party and consider myself a neutral, but at the moment, I am in favor of BN as I think Pakatan is worse than them. I can't stand the hypocrisy of the Pakatan leaders more than anything else.

Ok, I think that's about it.

Need to start work now.

Hope everyone have a pleasant weekend...except the Sulu gunmen. I will pray for the remnants of the gang to surrender to the authorities and end the bloodshed.

Cheers

  2. I suppose it's very very hard to stay apolitical especially when you're getting referrals from BC & HA. The allure is too strong, resistance is futile...

That said, just hang in there especially with the impending GE. If you get past that & not feel disillusioned, you'd be fine. I guess you can say that the litmus test is looming.

Best of luck in your blogging adventure. Maybe you can throw in some personal anecdotes just to lighten the political flavor. Will definitely be back to read your thoughts.

    Have a smashing weekend Annie!
