Malaysia Baru's Rule of Law

Yesterday

Guan Eng was freed from corruption charges

causing

MACC to be surprised

Well, a lot of others were also said to be surprised.

At my last post about Petronas, there were those who went out of topic and discussed the matter.

I even got scolded;

Aiyo Annie,

Cerita kurang umpphh lah!

Cerita apek dpt diskaun beli rumah sama macam khir toyo tapi sorang dibebaskan tapi sorang lagi kena penjara.

Lagipun petron cuma salah satu pembekal bukan pembekal utama. Ini bukan isu langsung!

Yes, some wondered why Guan Eng got away with it while Khir Toyo, whose case was more or less the same went to jail;

Musykil saya semusykil keampunan ekspres Anwar Ibrahim.Nilah cara baru pemerintahan PH.Rule of Law, ye..

Hmmmm.....Rule of Law.....what's that all about....

But then again, there were those who defended the Guan Eng's acquittal.

This is a rather long one;

Anon 17:09.

"Cerita apek dpt diskaun beli rumah sama macam khir toyo tapi sorang dibebaskan tapi sorang lagi kena penjara. Ini baru cerita best..."

Memang 'cerita best' bila, kes rasuah beli rumah banglo antara Khir Toyo & Guan Eng ada persamaan, tetapi 'hasilnya' berbezanya:-

1). Masa & ketika mereka berdua diseret ke Mahkamah berbeza.
2). 'Motif' mereka berdua diseret ke mahkamah, juga berbeza.

Khir Toyo, nasibnya agak malang.

And I thought that Rule of Law is all about facts....not timing, motif and pendapat/persepsi umum.

Well, guess this is Malaysia Baru's Rule of Law.

Honestly, I was not surprised at all by all these because I had expected it when Pakatan won the general election.

In fact there were quite a number of other cases where the AG dropped the charges against Pakatan personalities since then.

Doesn't really matter.

For me they can do whatever they want.

That's what the rakyat want, right.

If later on the rakyat can't take their bullshit anymore, they may vote other people in the next general election.

Hopefully so.

For now, anything goes.

This is another comment from my last post;

Yes Malaysis baru everything good. Because they don’t steal !!!
So very sure this one....but never mind.

Have fun you guys.

Cheers.

  3. Heh heh heh.

    Sooooooooo predictable lah you, Annie.

Every Umgnok macai blogger whoops Very Neutral is saying the same.

    Like synchronised parrots.

Ahhhhh, “rule of law”, “corruption”, “cost of living”, “welfare of the rakyat”.

All the things that every Umgnok macai didn’t give a f*** about before, SUDDENLY you are concerned by.

    Embarrassing, no?

Give you just 2 examples (plenty more, just ask ya : )

    CASE 1:

The NFC scandal. Overwhelming DOCUMENTARY evidence of what the cowmama did. Yes folks, your money (only 250 million, lah) really got converted to condos. Lembu money became penthouses and Mercedes.

    How was this dropped?

Because Shafee the 9.5 million man wrote a letter - A PRIVATE LETTER - to Apandi Babi, who then dropped the charges.

    To repeat:

Jibby’s deeply corrupt lawyer wrote a letter - A PRIVATE LETTER - to Jibby’s deeply corrupt hand-picked stooge A-G who let him escape from 1MDB charges.

    Result?

We got shafted for all 250 million, and the crooks kept their loot.

What the Umgnok macai said at the time:

“Oh, the A-G has full power to drop charges, so shaddap.”

I wonder if Annie’s archive has an article condemning this dropping of charges?

Ehhhhh, but Annie cares about us so much? She cares deeply about “rule of law”, “corruption”, “cost of living”, “welfare of the rakyat”, right? And dead dogs and pizza price?

    Mesti ada, kan?

    Heh heh heh.

This is what the mat salleh call “rank hypocrisy”.

I never believed LGE to be guilty.

My recollection of the case was that the property was offered at a price to LGE's wife and that price was honoured despite the passage of years and movements in the property market.

I know others may disagree but that's my view, sorry.

    1. Protecting the Malays, Umno style…

The Swiss A-G told Pandi Babi that USD800 million had been stolen from KWAP, and the Swiss had all the evidence needed.

This was Pandi Babi’s response, to protect the Malay civil servants’ pensions….

“KUALA LUMPUR: Former Attorney-General (AG) Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali had refused to extend his cooperation while helming the office, claimed Swiss AG Michael Lauber.

According to Malaysiakini, Lauber said this after a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Tommy Thomas yesterday.

“Since 2015, (we have been) conducting our investigations in Switzerland and from the beginning, we tried to cooperate very closely together with the United States, Singapore, Luxembourg,” the online portal quoted Lauber as saying.

Lauber also reportedly said Switzerland had tried to cooperate with Malaysia.

"...but at that time, in 2016, we got confirmation that the Malaysian attorney-general that time didn't want to cooperate with us," he was quoted as saying.

Malaysiakini also reported that the Switzerland’s Office of the Attorney General (OAG) had requested for mutual legal assistance from Malaysia on two occasions, but received no response in return.”

Don’t worry, just search through Annie’s blog archive.

I GUARANTEE she condemned Pandi and wanted justice for the Malay civil servants.

  6. Another comment by a netizen why charge on LGE was dropped....HEHEHEHE

To those who are claiming this is proof the new Pakatan Gov is no different to BN, please understand the facts of this case before passing judgement._
The issue with this property purchase was not the value of the house itself. But the allegation that he bought the house under value in return for selling the state Gov land at Taman Manggis below market price.
But what most people dont know is that land was first offered to Gerakan but Gerakan couldnt come up with the money. The state gov then held an open tender which LGE excused himself from because of conflict of interest. After months of negotiations, the tender was subsequently to KLIDC.
BN was harping on the price of the house but to date did not come up with any proof linking the sale of the house to the land sale. That's what the court was supposed to find out._
Selling a property below value is not a crime. It's a willing seller willing buyer deal. In order to find LGE guilty the court needed to prove that the lower price of the house was an inducement to the Hb sale of the land. That clearly did not happen because it was an open tender. Hence the aquittal of LGE.

  8. Yes dear Annie, if the rakyat is not satisfied, they can choose a new coalition...which one is best? One which approves a 47yr old man to marry an 11yr old girl, condones public whipping and subjects their rakyat to life of poverty and misery so that they can attain their path to Paradise, together with a party that shamelessly inflates cost of projects and asks for 10% advance before signing the letter of award, condones 'cash is king' attitude by giving one off payments every year while their princes live like kings and emirs with their ferraris and luxury yachts all funded by the country's coffers?

Just by a few questionable incidents, you and your same minded kind, start condemning the new govt while kissing up to the previous govt that openly flaunts its corrupt practices and terms the corruption as rezeki from Tuhan...

    (1)KT- poor salesmanship

    (2)LGE-good salesmanship
    Seller sold with profit
    Both cases are distinctively different

    A comparision:
What is the difference between a good girl and a nice girl?
A good girl goes on a date, goes home and go to bed
A nice girl goes on date, goes to bed and goes home

"Judge Hadhariah justified that so far the prosecution had called 25 witnesses to testify in the trial last March and now in September the prosecution had asked the case to be discharged not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA). She said – “Six months later, the prosecution may call for other witnesses. There is no such thing especially in public interest case.”

  22. Hi Annie,
Tommy Thomas not at all involve in this decision. Secondly a new DPP that is not involve at all in this case got the case files to evaluate possible charges. A recommendation is made by the DPP base on the evidences and the judge formality ruling.
Secondly, the evidence is weak. Take into account when the biz person bought the house at 2.5 mil and sold at 2.8 mil to LGE. She did not even make a capital loss but factor in possible market price, then only possible consider a loss. And LGE stay at the house for 5 years before looking chance to buy it as people wants to own their home then keep in paying rental. For Khir Toyo, the dev bought at 6 million and sell to Khir at 3 mil. Very clear make a loss and that is not consider market price...if consider market price, much more given. So this raise higher suspicion. Also in the approval process, what is the role between Khir and LGE? Is LGE personally involve in the committee meetings to grant to specific developer? of its a proposal from the committee? Is Khir directly direct its given to the developer? So, this has to play out in the court. Of course the AG Chamber will look which is stronger case and goes for it to avoid tax paying wasted. We don't see the facts to know, but it's a play by opposing party using the court as political perception and tool to push their case.....
