Been a busy weekend.
Spent the whole of yesterday at the UiTM main campus in Shah Alam.
Chauffeur duty for my cousin who registered for an English degree course at the university.
Not really a pleasant experience though.
The traffic jam within the campus was horrible and the registration process was also not very smooth.
I felt that the facilitators didn't do a really good job at managing the whole thing.
UiTM should do better on this next time.
They must do more to improve so that people don't say bad things about the university, such as when its graduates were being called slow learners which is not true.
Well, that aside, all the best to my cousin.
Hopefully she will enjoy her studies there and I'm quite sure she'll come out of it with better English than mine.
Honestly, my English is quite bad. and I don't want my cousin to end up like me.
But I also hope that my cousin would not end up like some of those pricks who think so superior of themselves just because their English is better than others'.
Having excellent command of English does not mean oneself is superior in everything, okay.
I don't believe that anyone should claim that he/she knows everything and being right all the time.
Let's say one's expertise is the English language, that does not mean he/she is also a political expert.
Being able to speak the language fluently doesn't mean that what were being said were right.
I always cringe whenever I met someone who think that he/she knows about everything, such as when people who never even lived or worked in my home state of Johor writing as if knowing everything about it.
But then again, this Malaysia Baru seems to be okay with that.
Look at this one they are going to have at Sunway University;
Yup, a white guy from a Singapore university is going to tell us how to have constitutional changes without changing the constitution.
It's being bandied as Malaysia Baru's prospects.
I guess such constitutional change to be recommended will affect bumiputera institutions such as UiTM, among others.
That's because one of the main complaints against our constitution is in regards to the bumiputera rights.
Whatever it is, I wonder if the guy had ever advised Singaporeans on how to improve their constitution...without changing it.
Sunway University.....I studied there for a while when it was still a college in PJ but quit because I felt it was not good enough.
Seriously, at that time, for the course that I took, I felt that UiTM's was better.
Annie,
ReplyDeleteGet some new material, okay.
The problem with you failed bloggers is, you just keeping beating the same drum over and over and over again.
No freshness.
Everything is about either (a) supporting corruption (b) race & religion paranoia (c) exploiting the death of dogs (OK, must concede, that was original : )
Here’s a link to a Failed Umno Blogger whoops Very Neutral who likes recycling material when there are no dead dogs to tumpang on:
http://lifeofaannie.blogspot.com/2017/11/anti-bn-people-think-poorly-of-uitm-too.html
This Failed Umno Blogger was trying to spin her masters out of Ku Nan’s comment about ITM being slow learners.
But here’s the problem:
When ITM plunged to below 700 in the university rankings, the Chancellor said they “don’t care about rankings”.
So what culture of excellence are you creating?
Yilek.
If you want ITM to do well, change the management.
Change the chancellor.
Get rid of the kangkung “professors” who just got position by asskissing the gomen.
Just like Pak Lah was given a nice desk to sleep on and a fat salary by Petronas, simply because he made a couple of pro-Najib statements.
Put people in charge who care about quality.
If you want Umngok to do well in the election, change all the failed Shit Bloggers who can’t spin.
Sometimes life is so simple : )

Actually what is worse is those who can't even write decent English but still want to blabber on rubbish without making sense. This is the worst combination, atrocious English and moronic comments and I cringe whenever read such comments.
“A day at UiTM and what others may do to it”
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwww, so concerned.
Your concern about UiTM brought tears to my eyes, Annie.
Tears of laughter at your hypocrisy : )
Of course, if an Umgnok crony is fucking UiTM in the ass, then you don’t care quite so much, right?
Let’s go to Tapah….
KUALA LUMPUR: Crest Builder Holdings Bhd's joint venture company has secured a RM284.89 million 23-year concession agreement with the Ministry of Education and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) to build and maintain a new UiTM campus in Tapah, Perak.
Crest Builder said on Tuesday, May 4 the JV, Unitapah Sdn Bhd, will see its unit Crest Builder Sdn Bhd and Detik Utuh Sdn Bhd holding 51:49 equity participation.”
Can follow or not, Annie?
I try to make it simple for you, lah ; )
1MDB also kenot unstan.
Who is “Detik Utuh Sdn Bhd”?
Don’t worry, I’ll explain.
Then Annie can scream loudly for justice for the Bumi community because the cost went up FIVE TIMES due to this crony’s greed.
ReplyDeleteWho is “Detik Utuh Sdn Bhd”?
• Bayaran tetap penyediaan bangunan – RM4.50 setiap kaki persegi setiap bulan.
• Bayaran penyenggaraan bulanan – RM1.146 setiap kaki persegi setiap bulan.
I'm sure you are very outraged, right Annie?
Like you say:
"I guess such constitutional change to be recommended will affect bumiputera institutions such as UiTM, among others.
That's because one of the main complaints against our constitution is in regards to the bumiputera rights."
So where were you when this was happening?
Or when Annuear Musang was songlaping money from MARA?
Don't apply double standards.
"Gajah di hadapan mata tak nampak, kuman di seberang lautan nampak."
You want to spin a Singaporean academic talking about something else into an attack on Bumi rights.
When your bosses whoops sorry you are Very Neutral my mistake, actually steal money direct from Bumis, you look the other way.
Cantik lah tu : )
Kipidap, Annie!
That Tajuddin Rahman fella is a rascal and trouble maker. Talks shit most of the time.
DeleteI am glad that you have high regard towards UiTM
ReplyDeleteProf Kangkung
UiTM teaches good English or good English? My friend is a associate professor teaching English there. I've seen the examination papers being marked and the standard is horrible, worse than std. 6 during my time. Marks have to be lowered to make most students pass hahaha
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime....
ReplyDeletewhere is Leader of the Opposition Zahid Hamidi???
All we see is Pokjib being a hypocrite.
Today, pinklips pirate was trying to be a champion of the Indians.
Poooooorah la dei.
Waytha walked out on you after 10 months and 15 attempts to move forward the Indian Blueprint you used as bait.
Never trust a pirate, Waytha.
Never trust an Umgnok blogger either.
Either lalang, or brain-dead, or both.
Annie,
ReplyDelete//Been a busy weekend//
I had a GREAT weekend :)
//I felt that the facilitators didn't do a really good job at managing the whole thing.//
Well, inefficiencies and incompetence have slowly but surely crept into the system over the last 40-50 years.
It is probably a classic example of the Peter Principle at work.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_principle
I would be interested to see what the current Minister of Education can do in the 5 years he has.
//Honestly, my English is quite bad//
Oh, stop fishing for compliments, OK? :)
Your English is quite good, OK? :)
Yes, you could wish for it to be better, but then, that is quite normal for anybody who wants to be better at whatever one is doing.
I wish I could speak French or German better but I simply can't be bothered to work harder at being better at it. :)
//Having excellent command of English does not mean oneself is superior in everything,//
I think that is pretty obvious, ain't it? :)
But for some people, what makes them feel superior to others is having an excellent command of Bahasa Melayu.
I suspect that this feeling of being superior from speaking Bahasa Melayu is simply a hangover from the days of UMNO/Malay dominance.
It make take some time for Malaysians to feel comfortable speaking whatever common language they like, be it English or Bahasa Melayu or Swahili.
But whatever common language it may be, it should be by choice, by one's own free will, by general consensus between those within that social group and not by force, not by ridicule, not by legislation.
//I don't believe that anyone should claim that he/she knows everything and being right all the time.//
Nobody can know everything and nobody can be right all the time.
The exception here is a religious person.
A religious person knows everything and is right every time because they are educated, they have read religious books, and they have special divine privileges.
Some religious people act like they know even more then everything because they can speak/read a language which many others cannot understand!!!
//Yup, a white guy from a Singapore university is going to tell us how to have constitutional changes without changing the constitution.//
Actually, I don't see a problem with that.
He appears to be an academic with a focus on constitutional law in South East Asian countries and he is giving an academic treatment to the Malaysian constitution in this case.
As such, anybody who objects is more then welcomed to challenge his academic treatment - preferably using an academic challenge, e.g. writing an academic paper, giving a lecture, etc.
This is how knowledge flourishes - put up an intelligent hypothesis/theory, get an intelligent challenge, respond intelligently to challenge, etc etc.
The fact that Harding is a white man living in Singapore should have nothing to do with it.
I mean, it is like saying that because Zakir Naik is an Indian living in Malaysia, he should not be talking about Islam - a religion of Arabic origin.
Of cos Zakir Naik can speak about Islam any time and any where he likes - it is just that his views on Islam can be and have been challenged and found wanting by many, eg government authorities.
//That's because one of the main complaints against our constitution is in regards to the bumiputera rights.//
As far as I am concerned, the only bumiputeras who should have constitutional rights are the Orang Asli - end of story.
As it is, the Orang Asli seem to be the ONLY people who are treated as though they have no rights!!!
Rohingyas coming into our country probably get a better deal then our own Orang Asli because the Rohingyas have the UNHCR working hard for them.
Maybe, with a PH government, the Orang Asli will finally get the help they so badly need.
Again, I can only really comment in five years time.

ReplyDeleteYes, everybody I met there was fuming at how registn prosess were handled.
It shows sheer lack of thoughtful concern on difficulty and frustration the whole process imposed on students, parents and many ailing proud grandpas and grandmas on what supposed to be a happy occation.
Why not just publish register process precisely and desigate all empty spaces near reg venue for parking. No need sending army of old students to regulate traffic.
I hope the mamak VC can take note.

Again, I like to say that it should NOT be material where that guy comes from - India, Cote d'Invoire, Dnipropetrovsk, wherever.
For me, it is simply a question of whether that guy is making sense with what he is saying.
