About Zakir Naik and bruised ego

How come it's the Information Minister who said this?

Government to follow rule of law in Zakir Naik's case: Gobind Singh

Wrong portfolio is it?

Or is it because Gobind is an Indian?

excerpts;

He revealed that Human Resource Minister M. Kulasegaran, Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar and himself as Indian ministers in the cabinet had spoken about this with the prime minister.

But I thought he's a Sikh.

And that Gerakan man who goaded him into making the statement is also a Sikh, right?

By the way, I thought there are only Malaysians these days...no more Malays, Chinese, Indians etc....I don't know, Guan Eng said he's not Chinese but Malaysian what....

Sigh....

I think there are many confused people in this new Malaysia.

Anyway, the other day Dr Mahathir already made a stand on this issue,

PM doesn’t want govt to

bow to pressure on Zakir Naik issue

Why then Gobind still wanted to make a noise over it?

In fact, why would anyone still want to talk about it in Cabinet once Dr Mahathir has decided on something?

Isn't that the way it was the last time Dr Mahathir was PM?

I think they better learn from Muhyiddin on this.

Once Dr Mahathir says something, the others should just shut up.

I think that would be better.

After all, Dr Mahathir seems okay with this Zakir Naik fellow,

I don't think Dr Mahathir would be nice with the guy if he is indeed a bad person who is going around inciting religious hatred and such.

Come on ya, you all put your trust in Dr Mahathir to lead the country, so put your trust in him on this one too, okay.

Deporting Zakir Naik is part of PH manifesto ?

Really?

Who cares about election promises these days la.

Those were just to get votes only.

Anyway, what exactly had this Zakir Naik done which makes some people, especially Indians being so concerned about deporting him?

Or is it because some people went to debate with him on religions and got angry because they were made like fools in public by Zakir Naik, thus the demand for him to be deported?

Personally, I don't like to debate on religions.

In fact, I don't like to debate about anything at all.

Normally, I just tell my side of the story and that's about it, and I'm okay if you all disagree with me.

I wouldn't want to debate or argue.

That's because I'm not in the business of educating idiots, okay.

But Zakir Naik is in that business and if you engage him, then you'll get an education.

That's if you engage him to get some education la.

However, if you engage Zakir Naik because of your ego, that is to prove your religion is better than his religion, then you'll get burnt because that guy is good at what he is doing.

I think that's why there are people angry with Zakir Naik and wanted him deported. It's not so much because Zakir Naik was inciting religious hatred but because of their bruised ego.

That's all.

By the way, I don't think the government will ever deport Zakir Naik.

It's because a lot of Muslims will get angry if they do that.

Zakir Naik is after all a Tokoh Maal Hijrah.

PH can't afford to lose Muslims' support because they are still the majority in the country.

    2. They thought deporting world reknown religious preacher such as Zakir Naik is as simple as deporting a clumsy Sungai Besar fugitive from Indonesia. It is not that simple. Zakir Naik is not a nobody. He’s a highly influential figure.

Zakir Naik is a big name in Muslim world. He has a huge Muslim followers. His ceramah attract hundreds of thousands of Muslims. When they were held before in places across Malaysia, they attracted seas of attendees.

Should Malaysian government decides to deport him, it is not going to go down well with the country’s Muslims. And they know it. There’ll be massive political implication especially among Malay Muslims. There’s going to be a huge backlash.

This ‘Malaysia baharu’ government will look very bad in the eyes of Malay Muslims should it happens. And Umno and Pas will going to town in a big way. PH image will suffer. The Malays will get even more sceptical. Even the previously so called transformist government who abolished ISA didn’t dare to send him back, what makes you think this government will?

With deafening and impatient calls to abolish Jakim and tahfiz school keep coming, with still hot on the heels are the appointment of new non-Muslim AG and non Muslim Chief Justice, this deportation calling will only adds more fuel to fire.

With the deportation of a highly revered Muslim preacher, the transformation of new liberal Malaysia is complete; they might have thought.

    3. This Zakir is like Najib. Whatever they do and said, to their supporter everthing is fine. Now Najib is charged. We will find answer after the trial. About Zakir please do read Mariam Mokhtar and Outsyedthebox. You will find answer to why other people want him deported. Whether he is a popular preacher to muslim or not has nothing to do with money laundering. Indian government want him on money laundering.same thing goes to Najib whether he is Melayu and Islam is irrelevant when he was charged on corruption of 42m went into his personal account. Period.

    4. Zakar Nail is as much a good Muslim as Najib is, actually.

Annie seems to love kleptocrats and money launderers.

The skeletons are now coming out of the Islamic preacher Zakir Naik's cupboard. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) not only claims to have established a money trail of approximate Rs 200 crore linked to Zakir Naik and his NGO, the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), but also a link between Naik and the Wahedna group, which was named in the Panama Papers leaks.

The agency recently issued a third summon to Naik, currently in Saudi Arabia, to remain present before the ED Mumbai office within next two weeks.

"Despite issuing two summons, Zakir Naik intentionally skipped the investigation. Thus, the ED has decided to issue third summon to Naik", a source told India Today. A copy of the summons has been handed to Naik's elder brother Mohammad Naik and also sent to Zakir Naik himself, via an email.

Till now, at least 5-6 persons have been interrogated and their statements have been recorded by the agency in the money laundering case against Naik. It includes Naik's brother, his legal advisor Saukhat Jamati and IRF's accountant. The agency is likely to summon Naik's sister very soon.

      NEW DEVELOPMENTS

In a major development, sources confirmed told India Today that the agency has unocovered suspicious transactions of around Rs 200 crore in IRF's bank accounts.

"The money trail has been established in the bank accounts of IRF. Out of Rs 200 crore, around Rs 70 crore has been transacted in the name of Harmony Media (a production company), and the remaining money - Rs 130 crore - has been brought in by Naik himself, which is under serious probe", the source added.

Of course to Annie & the other Umno / Very Neutral bloggers, crime is Islamic.

We should just follow the law.

If India makes a legal request - follow it.

    7. Skimo; Have u seen Zakir Naik's videos on youtube. Not once he had incited Muslims to become extremist. He is an expert in interfaith issues especially on Christianity n Hinduism. He memorised by heart the Quran, Bible n some Hindu scriptures.

In one of his lecture, he asked for Muslims and Hindu to reconcile and agree on common theme by referring to their old religious book.Surprise to me when he quoted in the old Hindu's book that God is one.

Anything wrong with that and I agree with Annie, it was the ego thing that pressure the Hindu to call for expulsion of Zakir Naik.

I do hope Tun M will not crumble under pressure. The Mufti of Perlis already called for dialogue or debate between Ramasamy n Zakir Naik.I welcome this.

Thats the problem. You don't indulge in debates. Especially not in the name of Dakwah.
Debates ..berhujjah..ikhtilaf among Muslims only creates separations, tensions, antagonism and worse of all hatred. What more among different religins.Nabi SAW told us all Muslims to 'Dakwah Bil Hikmah'.

    2. ISLAM IS AGAINST RACISM AND PREJUDICE.

There is no compulsion in religion, meaning, "Do not force anyone to become Muslim, for Islam is plain and clear, and its proofs and evidence are plain and clear. Therefore, there is no need to force anyone to embrace Islam. (Al- Baqarah 256)

Islam is against all forms of racism and bigotry, on the basis of both revelation and reason.

Racism is defined as the belief that one ethnicity is superior to another, or one color of skin is superior to another, or the people of one country are superior to another.

It is a type of prejudice, to pre-judge some demographic of people based upon their benign and arbitrary physical characteristics. Such repugnant beliefs are the traits of pre-Islamic ignorance (al-jahiliyyah).

Rather, in Islam, we believe all people are born equal in the sight of Allah and the only characteristic that makes someone superior to another is righteousness (al-taqwa).

Allah has dignified the children of Adam, all human beings in the world, with blessed provisions such as reason, intelligence, and empathy.

We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided good things for them, and We favored them over much of what We created, with decisive preference. (Surat al-Isra’ 17:70)

Allah created different races and tribes so that people would recognize each other and learn from each other, not so that the races would fight each other. Ethnic diversity is part of the divine plan, a means of enrichment.

The tactics of some Malaysian Indians seem to be when you cannot win an argument you must demand that the Law must take action against your opponent instead of finding better arguments against him.Anyway the Indian government has been investigating on ZK for sometimes without charging him in court. If he has 37 properties in India without sufficient income declarations they can charge him in court even if he is not in India.

//How come it's the Information Minister who said this?//

I have never got used to Malaysian Cabinet Ministers making comments on matters outside their portfolios.

OK, back when UMNO was in power, this was really really common but then UMNO ministers know everything about anything, so for them, it was biasa lah.

But with Pakatan, I would have thought that their ministers would show more self-discipline and flick-pass the hot potato over to the appropriate minister, in this case, probably the Home Minister or his deputy.

Maybe those newbie Pakatan Ministers have been observing UMNO Ministers and think that it is perfectly normal for ministers to make comments on anything and everything.

//By the way, I thought there are only Malaysians these days...//

Aiyah, like it or not, those noobs are probably still coming to grips with projecting a Malaysian-only image.

Bear in mind, they would likely to be subjected to pressure from their Indian constituents to say something as well.

//Isn't that the way it was the last time Dr Mahathir was PM?//

Well, it is not "last time", it is THIS TIME.

I think Mahatir himself knows that he needs to make some adjustments to his management style.

//I don't think Dr Mahathir would be nice with the guy if he is indeed a bad person who is going around inciting religious hatred and such.//

Heheheheh.. Mahatir was very nice to Anwar before he sacked Anwar the next day :)

If I was Zakir Naik, I would be a bit careful no matter how nice Mahatir was to me :)

//what exactly had this Zakir Naik done which makes some people, especially Indians being so concerned about deporting him?//

I have never bothered to listen to anything Zakir Naik says.

The Wikipedia article on him gives a very unflattering view of the man.

Plus he is banned from several countries.

All this is reason enough to view him with some suspicion and caution.

And anybody who disputes evolution is a moron in my opinion.

Anyway, I find it really really weird that Zakir Naik prefers to stay in Malaysia when Saudi Arabia would seem a much more suitable place for him and his beliefs.

//It's because a lot of Muslims will get angry if they do that.//

My guess is that the bulk of Muslims who will get angry would be from PAS.

There may be some Muslims from UMNO but I do not believe their numbers are necessarily significant.

UMNO Muslims tend to get more excited over contracts, money, power, etc.

  26. It was said Zakir Naik has been given spurs, title and the privilege of PR so by the rule of law he gets to stay.

If that was the reason, the rule of law also applies to a formal extradition request made by another sovereign state, India, in January. If it does not apply, Malaysia will equally have no right to extradite Chow-Lor from wherever he may be. Bad as our international reputation already is, namely tatters, why do we therefore ignore India's formal request in the same way PH has ignored our own Sarawak people's request to charge Pek Mor beyond the political expediency of Warisan?

India's request was on money laundering charges. But one need only youtube and google for Zakir Naik's speeches and writings to know he has been divisive and incendiary on inter-faith goodwill on a motive to make Islam the supreme religion of the world by denigrating other religions through elevation of the Prophet (PBUH) as the last - and by his own logic - the most authoritative representative of the Almighty.

And what is his method? A combination of two techniques. One, play up his apparent knowledge of other religions by quoting here and there so as to win the tokoh credentials for international defender of Islam and the admiration of pro-Muslim political acolytes.

Two, play and pounce on words. In one youtube recording, he as a doctor was losing the argument against the questions of a young medical student; alas the poor student made a mistake and used the word theory when meaning law. Zakir Naik the global illuminary pounced on that word and literally tore the poor student's standing to bits before stomping away from the stage. Such a remarkable display of deflection escapism. One would have thought that if he had really studied and understood the essences of all the faiths he was trying to tar, he would have the humanity to rise above his personal ambitions to see the human condition that requires compassion and goodwill needed for "what's next to heal mankind?", not take it out on a poor student's earnestness in order to save his own face, ego and ambition. In that particular case, he could have said, "oh you mean law of gravity, so let's see what's next from that premise..." = he didn't. Why?

And the answer could be found in his writings against all the other religions, including Zoroastrianism. In the one against Buddhism, it was said he wrote that there is a contradiction, namely if that religion requires one to abandon desires, then the desire to abandon desires is a tautological miscarriage. Why didn't he consider the faith as predicated on laws of natural process instead which would have punctured the specious way in which he serpentinely navigates to his persuasions of less tortured minds?

The end result is bad emotions in society leading to mistrust, arrogance and infighting even thousands of years after.

Which comes to us. Did the cabinet agree to Zakir Naik's stay based on political expediency of not wanting to stoke local Muslimic excesses besides winning the janggut favors of a Sunni Saudi Arabia as custodian of annual quotas for Mecca-visits, over and above the rule of law?

  27. 2/2

We should all and now take a step back and lean against our respective walls to answer candidly the only question on our non-pink lips:

    whither 3R?

Whatever answer we have must be honest and relevant. The previous government has used it to sustain not the wills and wishes of the peoples but its own camarilla of political oligarchs ending in a highly-indebted economy on which the peoples depend for their daily livelihoods. Those power-mongers have played on the emotion of an unthinking lot made of a small number of firebrand zealots and fanatics seizing the national narrative over a majority, furthermore cowered to deafening silence whenever injustice and bullyism are played outright as if by right.

One is reminded of a group of Malays who falsified DBKL credentials (falsified because they were shown as manila board cards), crashed into a DVD rental shop, pushed the proprietor to the back and demanded payment to walk away. A better circus act there never was. The seizure of sensibility, for that matter the rule of law.

Which is why LGBT is still a question. Even if someone takes exception by edict by its manifestation in societies, who gives anyone the right to make judgement on them? Notwithstanding the ongoing research into its cause devolving from hypothalamic balance differential in testosterone levels in some, who gives the right to any majority to demonize and victimize them socially until they are marginalized economically as human beings. And that is why one can salute the management of Metrojaya for doing what is humane.

And that is also why one can replace Helen's allusion of Annie as actually a Malay male with an imagination of her as that girl with the clarinet or an older version of the girl at the spad hawker stall.

It's all in the mind. And that is why M 2.0 must realize his steering wheel is starting to veer off-north. The two cambers of his proton need some re-tuning.

Steer true north, Malaysia. Now is the time, this is the place to unchain one and all from the fear of political blackmail of a majority whose good feelings are otherwise cowered by the strident hecklings of an unthinking irrational blinkered ultimately self-serving group who will never ask the necessary question to all issues - "what's to be next then?".

In other words, grow up lah.

So how to change such deep seated indoctrination ? It is deeply embedded into their very souls. It will take another 60 years or more to even unravel this mess and we won't be here to witness, that is, if this country will not be in smithereens by then.

"He revealed that Human Resource Minister M. Kulasegaran, Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar and himself as Indian ministers in the cabinet had spoken about this with the prime minister."

Now. My question. Since when a Punjabi in Malaysia is Indian? I concur with Punjabis in Indian Punjab who are referred to as Indian. Indian for them is their nationality. But surely Punjabis in Malaysia are Malaysians. Not Indians.

      Wasn't that the message?

And Quran is read by the Muslims. So I suppose the message is for the Muslims.

More so for preachers like Zakir Naik.

A kafir who doesn't believe, has committed no sin because it's not Allah's will that he should believe.

If Allah do not will that a person should believe, why must Zakir Naik makes him to look like a fool like what Annie claimed? To show off?

Let's be clear here, that if there's even the slightest of riak in your heart, you can not enter jannah.

And now that you have believed, what do you do for the grace of Allah?

Do you practise your deen and preach to the unbelievers?

Or, like umno you make them your imaginary enemies and you plan with your fellow Muslims to annihilate them, like Zakir Naik?

  48. Prof Nasi Lemak,

//Masuk keluaq hospital tu tanda2 unhappy la. //

True, that is one reason why some people go to hospital.

But another reason why people go to hospital is because of age.

Believe it or not, old people get old people problems but then most people don't realise this until they get old :)

As far as I know, Mahatir, Muhyiddin and Hanipa have all attended hospital recently for problems associated with their age.

In Mahatir's case, any hospitalisation does not seem to have affect his sharp tongue, much to the despair of some UMNO people.

Meek-and-mild-looking Hanipa may be fragile, but I found out that he has a wicked sense of humour - I recall being puzzled at a PRU14 ceramah about his references to going to the mamak shop and ordering roti Najib, until he explained that it was roti tak de telur :)

I have not heard anything about Lim Kit Siang going to hospital.

The ones who experience the most stresses would be people like Mat Sabu, Lim Guan Eng, Azmin Ali, Gobind Singh, Maszlee Malik, etc.

I have not heard anything about them going to hospital either.

//Happy people lain tau.. ceria, sihat, smiling all the time and always full of love//

I wonder what you would say if it was Lim Kit Siang showing how happy he is with the current situation.

I do know that Najib does exhibit exactly what you are saying - happy, ceria, sihat, smiling all the time, and always full of love.

So, I guess by your measure, he is full of good health.

I wonder if he still takes quinoa.... or the happy pills he is prescribed.
