Salute to Hishammuddin and the SAR team

As everyone should know by now, many quarters have hurled all sorts of criticisms against the authorities about the way they are handling the search and rescue mission of MH370.

At the forefront were Pakatan politicians who accused the BN government of incompetence and lapping up all that they can get from negative foreign news report about the manner the Malaysian authorities were handling the crisis.

In my posting My hope scenario for MH370

a commenter whom I believe to be a Pakatan supporter asked,

Cik Annie,

The way this crisis is being managed, can you still say that our government is doing a "not bad" job?

To this, another commentator replied,

Hi, I think the Malaysian Govt is doing a good job. Don't take it for me, take it from the foreigners working with the Malaysian Authorities in the Search and Rescue operations. No point reading the Western Media as it tends to be totally biased always having a self righteous attitude when it comes to Malaysia.

The link below gives the opinion of Cmdr. William Marks of the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet a person who definitely has more credibility in assessing the competence of the efforts by the Malaysian Authorities.

http://sinosphere.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/03/11/q-a-cmdr-william-marks-of-the-u-s-navy-7th-fleet-on-the-search-for-the-malaysian-jet/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0

Part of what the American Navy top brass said was then posted by another commenter,

They are alhamduli'llah trying the best to their ability out there, and here is a comment from one of those who is adding value, SOS:

"This is all coordinated by the Malaysian government. They coordinate both the water-space and the airspace management. I give them a lot of credit.
They have done what I would call an exceptional job.
.. They track all these assets coming in from all these countries, they make assignments, and they’re very efficient, very professional"
-- Cmdr Marks, US Navy 7th Fleet to NY Times on MH370 SAR effort, March 11th 2014.

I believe all those involved in the search and rescue operation are doing their best to find MH370 and that the Malaysian authorities are doing a good job and as the American Navy top brass said, "They have done what I would call an exceptional job."

I would like to express in this posting my admiration for our Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who is also the acting transport minister for his exceptional handling of the crisis.

I have been his detractor for quite a while now , but in this particular time of crisis, I have to admit that Hishammuddin really shines as a leader.

His handling of the international media during the daily press conferences has been superb.

This report is on the latest Press conference handled by Hishammuddin,

Transponder may have been deliberately switched off, says Minister

The part that I like best was,

When reporters asked about conflicting information from the Malaysian officials, he said: “The conflicting information is coming from you (media) not from us, we have been rebutting your reports daily in our press conferences.”

“I would like to remind the media that US’ National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and its Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) confirmed that we (Malaysian authorities) have made the right decision to focus on the two areas,” he added.

The two areas are the Straits of Malacca and the South China Sea.

Also deserve a special mention was Malaysia Airlines CEO Datuk Ahmad Jauhari Yahya whom I know is working round the clock with little rest since MH370 went missing almost a week ago.

My salutes to everyone involved in the search and rescue operation.

Be strong and never give up.

This is a fact of life, that's why I do not comment about the SAR. If commentators like Anon 2242 want to angle everything from a racial point of view, then this remains a Malay led SAR to find a Malay owned airplane. Non Malays should not get involved.

  3. Thumbs up Annie. Yes, the Hon. Mininster has done his best and gone beyond to resolve the crisis. Unlike those, who have done nothing but condemn. If you think you can do better, why not join in and do it. Well, for the Opposition and those who have done nothing but talk. I guess "talk is cheap". Credos Minister, you have done well

  9. Now that we have the US involved in trying to locate the whereabout of the missing MH 370, we will soon find out whether there will be any progress. The opposition enjoys criticizing the government of being incompetent and everything done by the the government (Melayu) is wrong or low standard in their (Chinese) eyes. As if they (Chinese) can do a better job in handling this issue.

    4. Anon 11.10 is right. If you all go online and check various social portals, especially the S'pore ones, you will see M'sians of all races defending their country which is MALAYSIA. They don't like anyone to laugh or make fun or look down at their country. Majority of Chinese S'poreans look down on M'sia because it is a Malay led government. LKY's brainwashing had seeped through, this cannot be changed overnight. Some S'poreans of other races are also doing it including some Malays. The S'poreans feel superior and very arrogant. So, unless Chinese M'sians are the real DAPPIG type, pls do not say that all Chinese M'sians are against the government's SAR efforts.

Another thing, Malay M'sians MUST MUST study/learn ENGLISH. What I can see is that they ''kena hentam kaw kaw, insulted etc'' by the Singaporeans ....The Singaporeans of course use English. The Malay M'sians answered in Malay. No, you must answer in English not Malay because S'poreans of non Malay race do not understand Malay. And you must write in good English, not pidgin English (I saw some of the Malay M'sians struggling with their English. I said ''kesihan'').

I hope the Malaysian government will change the education system of the country. Should not be afraid of the Englsih language. Have an English medium schools so that the people will be able to grab knowledge easier and to DEFEND themselves when they get bullied in the cyber space. Ok, don't believe me, pls go to ''The Real Singapore'' website or Facebook, ''SGAG'' website or Facebook, ''SG Share''..to name a few.

    5. Goodness, this is not a Malay vs Cina thingy. Please stop putting race into this. The passengers and crew are not of ONE race. Malaysians of all races have come together on this. BTW, if you think that the Malays in PR are just toadies to the Dap you are sadly looking down on the ability of Malays to think for themselves.

  11. I second that. Hishammuddin has been impressive in handling the media and rebutting inconsistencies in the press. Its easy to criticize and loose faith but it takes real character to stand up to a leader in times of difficulty and provide that support when the tides are against you.

    1. Zinedine,

As much as I agree with Annie I also agree with your pronouncement. Hishammuddin handles it consistently well and courageously sound.

I still want to make believe that the passengers  of fight MH 370 are saved and sound though the plane is pointed to crash in the Indian ocean, I am still in the opinion it could be at the very least landed on the cemented water and now waiting to be found and rescued. Time is of the essence.

It is too late for the plane to be 'controlled' deliberate to Diego Garcia or somewhere. The AWACS HIJACK theory still stands for scrutinization though the motive is uncleared for now.

  12. Yes Annie.
    I agree.
Although I do not support Hisham during the last UMNO election, I think he has done an exceptional job in handling this disaster. Carry-on Sir.
My only advise to him is to stop riding with SAR team and pretending to be looking for something on camera. You will only make their job more difficult, with VIPs riding along.
And make sure there is no mishap among the SAR team.

  13. MH 370 is wrapped up in so much mystery and possible intrique . . . .

A Tale of Hypocritical Intrique around the Blessed Prophet Muhammad:

The hypocrites of Tabuk were scheming against the Messenger (saw) and to murder him on the return journey from Tabuk to Madinah. The hypocrites planned to kill him on a precipitous ridge in the region. They would push him off his camel into the chasm below – a fall which no man could survive. They perceived this was going to be easy to accomplish on a dark night, since Muhammad’s aides were not constantly by his side.

The returning Muslim expedition was beginning to ascend the ridge when Angel Gabriel, Allah’s peace be upon him, appeared to warn the Prophet, Allah bless and grant him peace, of the impending danger at its crest. Thereupon the Prophet (saw) instructed his troops: “Whoever wants to trek across the valley go ahead! The path is easier there!” He continued up the hill on his camel accompanied by his two companions; all the others followed his directions to cross the valley. The hypocrites applauded themselves: ”Opportunities are presenting themselves!” Their plot was coming to fruition. They proceeded to tail the Prophet and his companions, never suspecting that the Prophetic wisdom was going to unmask them. Ammaar ibn Yaasir held the reins of the Prophet’s camel, while Huzaifah ibn Yamaan followed at the rear and he would personally witness the unfolding drama.

It wasn’t long before the prophetic company found themselves hounded by trodding camels hoofs speeding towards them in the dark. As they neared the crest of the hill, the two companions sensed the dismay of the Prophet (saw) but they had yet no inkling of the drastic situation. “Huzaifah, don’t let them get close to us!” the Messenger (saw) ordered. Unhesitatingly, Huzaifah raced to the rear to confront the ten or more assailants. With the staff in his hand he struck the faces of the camels and they bolted and threw their riders into disarray. The star lights barely revealed the veiled faces of the assailants, so no one could recognize the other. Not realizing that Huzaifah was merely a single man, the gangsters were afraid to retaliate - Allah overwhelmed their hearts with fear and their bodies seized up. In panic, they about-turned and dispersed down the incline to regroup with the troops crossing the valley. The murderous plot had been foiled by the unwitting Huzaifah who never suspected that those hidden faces were intent on a terrible misdeed.

Huzaifah caught up with his two friends and together they negotiated the summit of the hill and declined on the farther side. They reached the meeting point first and waited for the regiments to arrive.
“Did you recognize any one of them?” the Messenger (saw) asked Huzaifah.
“No, it was too dark and their faces were veiled. I couldn’t make them out even when I had broken into their ranks.”
“Has it occurred to you what they were planning to do?”
“No,” answered Ammar and Huzaifah in unison.
“They were planning to kill me. They planned to tail me up to the crest and then push me off my camel over the ridge.”
“Command us now, oh Messenger of Allah! We the Muhajirin will take their heads!” cried the two men. Most of the hypocrites were residents of Madinah itself and they could simply be rounded up.

“Oh Messenger of Allah, you could order every tribal chief to wipe out the hypocrites in their own ranks!” But the Messenger (saw) made his stand: “I do not want anyone to say that Muhammad uses his companions to shield him in combat, and then does away with them after attaining victory.” The blessed Prophet (saw) then disclosed the identities of every one of the twelve evildoers to his two companions, who were made to pledge they would never reveal these secrets.

  14. ENDNOTE: The Battle of Tabuk was against the mighty Roman empire. The bedraggled Madinan troops had traversed about 900 km under a scorching summer sun to Tabuk. Here Prophet Muhammad performed one of his stupendous miracles in which water sprung out from between his fingers to water thousands of men. By performing this journey the Muslims had already achieved their major aim, which was to scatter the Roman army. The retreating Romans were so much intimidated that for quite a long period they did not think of launching an attack and during that period, therefore, the security of Arabia from the northern side was ensured.
