Breakfast with my mother

I'm getting tired of writing about serious stuff. I have been at it almost non-stop the past few weeks.

Furthermore, words are out that PM DS Najib Razak may want to listen to his advisers and not care anymore about what bloggers like myself wrote.

So, from now on, I think I will try to have more fun instead in my writings.

Let the cybertroopers hired by the PM's advisers do the hard work of battling the Pakatan gang. Well, maybe it is for the better. After all, the cybertroopers may be smarter than independent bloggers like myself as they are well paid professionals and should be of better credibility as compared to someone like me who is just an amateur hack.

Anyway, since today is Saturday and I got an off day, I'm going to just write a fluff posting to suit my relaxed mood today. Just something about myself and my mother.

Earlier this morning, my mother asked me out for breakfast. I was quite excited as it has been quite awhile since we had breakfast together. That was until she told me that she felt like having the McD Big Breakfast.

As if there were nothing or no where else for breakfast....I quietly told myself. My mother can be quite funny in her choices of food. But okay lah, it was better than nothing, as I did miss my mother and just want to spend some time with her. We ended up at the McD of Citta Mall in Subang.

It turned out that my mother had also stopped reading my blog. She said I'm sounding very anti-Chinese in my writings these days and that she can't bear to read some of the stuff that I wrote. I just kept quiet when she told me that. Well, what can I say, I always write as according to how I feel inside my heart.

My mother also said that it was not true when I wrote about her being a staunch DAP supporter. She said she simply supports what she feels is right and that she has never followed the others blindly.

"I do realize that there were some of my friends who had gone crazy lately because of politics," she said.

"There are those who previously never care about anything but themselves now talking about saving the country just because they were swept along by the euphoria. I even got friends who accused me of being a traitor just because I refused to be as fanatical as them.

"I wish they can be specific as to what sorts of a traitor I am just because I don't want to be as crazy as them. Am I a traitor to DAP? Am I a traitor to the Chinese? Am I a traitor to the country?"

My mother went on and on like that for almost half an hour. She was her usual upset self whenever she thinks that I'm being a not so good daughter. She just channels her anger elsewhere.

After she had calmed down, I asked, "Ma, do you still support DAP or not?"

Her still angry reply was - "I only support you, your father and myself. Why do I want to support DAP ka, MCA ka, Umno ka? What? You think those people really care about us?"

I think that in her anger, she forgot to mention her support for her parents, siblings and the rest of the family in Singapore.

Well, whenever my mother is in her foul mood, I rather not stretch my luck. After that I just ate my not so tasty McD Big Breakfast quietly.

Before we parted, my mother surprised me when she hugged me tightly. She hardly did that. My mother is not the publicly affectionate type of person. Maybe she missed me too and was sorry that she got upset earlier.

Ma, I know you are not reading this but I want to put on record here that I'm sorry for making you angry with my assumptions about yourself. I love you Ma.

  3. Annie,
Your ma is right in that we have to look after ourselves. Our kneejerk reaction may have been to blame chinese voters, me included. but let's not forget annie, life is not all in black and white. I'm a staunch supporter of UMNO and after much thot my conclusion is: henceforth malays must look after themselves. All things considered, malays cant afford to pin their hopes on umno or the govt. malays must operate stretegically and work with whoever and whatever, chinese included, the main goal being to profit and benefit.

  5. Annie, I consider you a notable figure, a person of conscience. but its time we move beyond this bunch of umno personalities who really are just pseudo-leaders. Its time for another phase of malay social reformation. Lets galvanise our resources and help create the next gen of malay boys and girls who are positive and progressive and can be world beaters. Think about it will you.

  7. Ya betul kata ibu Annie.. I am the Malay widow with 5 orphans. Thats exactly what I told my kids each time they bring home the silly "Anak Yatim" forms from their schools. I usually throw the forms away.

Forget it la, they are only collecting statistics so they can include your 5names under their "bantuan anak2 yatim" dramas, then start blabbering nonsense in the media to make us look like beggars

But I still voted for UMNO all the way, praying it may help some lucky poors who may get the serdak2 biskut thrown to them by the greedy politicians. No choice as the oppositions are even worse than the Hungry Ghosts.

  10. What is puzzling about the BN supporters is that although they have the opposition states as examples of how the opposition will govern if given the opportunity, still they fear the unknown so much that they feel its better to stick with the known Les Miserables.

    1. Actually I don't like the way Selangor is governed. The roads suck! The cleaning crews suck too. My area, so many massage parlours and the Chinese shops taking over the roads with their tables and chairs.

Another thing that I hate is seeing Christian preacher politicians adorning tudungs to go to suraus and masjids to give donations and ceramahs. Such hypocrites. Nothing is sacred anymore with PR govt. All is fair game..

  11. I support and voted for BN not because I like its present leaders. I support BN due to its well proven kongsi principles. PR's marriage of convenience is just not my cup of tea. The three parties' ideologies are too different. They are not even a registered coalition like BN. No common flag either.

Until PR proved that they are a serious coalition like BN by having a common flag and a formal shadow cabinet. Until the Lim, Karpal, Anwar family dynasties are removed from PR. Until that happen I will support BN.

In the meantime, I hope UMNO delegates will choose a better leader soon. The present PM is such a disappointment.

    1. Just had a mummbling chat with my neighbour's son, already 15, BM and BI cannot communicate.

If I vote for oppositions, I don't think Malaysians are able to communicate with one another and Gangsters, prostitiutions and drunkards will rule the country.

  12. What better alternatives do we have? Do you want to be led by a sodomite, a racist anti Malay party that provoked Mei 13 1969 incident or a confused Islamic label party with leaders known for illicit sex?

    1. ya, anon 09:26, let us continue to be govern by a sodomite party like UMNO to continue screw the country upside down by way of robbing the rakyat, inciting hatred among races and making use of Islam to fool the Muslim !!

  13. For those who think that the switch from Gardenia to Massimo by Chinese bread consumers was politically motivated, I hereby announce that Gardenia has recently got me back as a customer.

That which made me switch is their superb 12 grain Sommerset bread, priced at RM4.20.

And that's a decision based purely on meritocracy!

    1. Me too. I love that bread. Anyway, I haven't noticed Chinese in my supermarket specifically buying Massimo. Most people buy the Gardenia (and this is in a Chinese predominant neighborhood). I've also seen Malays buying Massimo.

  15. I witnessed with my own eyes, the mc d uses insect killer mortein spraying all over the premises in early morning when opening the store. They sprayed everywhere including tables and chairs, serving copunters and machines to kill big and small cockroaches running around from the nite till morning hours.
The amount of spraying was too huge. Just beware you dont get poisoned & side effects when dining in mc d next time.

  16. Annie, you don't live with your family? Sometimes the way you write it's like the 3 of you live in separate worlds. I'm not trying to be nasty, just curious.

  17. Annie,

I really think your mum is right.

Politicians have indeed turned the equilibrium of our multi-racial society upside down for their own benefits - this applies to both sides of the political divide.

In truth, they don't care a damn of the ordinary rakyat who need to work and strive like mad all days to provide a decent honest living for their family.

  18. Hi, Annie!

It's tough writing about stuff that depresses you, so I hope you'll be inspired to write things that will make you happy.

As for your Mum, I think you should try being the bigger person and keep hugging her first, whether in public or private. My grandma was of the old school who was shocked at hugs. So my sis and I hug her and kiss her when she was at our house. Our younger cousins got hugs from her.

Seriously, you can rewire her brain to accept and give hugs more easily and spontaneously. Give it a try.

    *hugs*
