Chinese schools should be gradually abolished (in a transparent manner, of course, not a stealthy one) and Chinese language education be assimilated into the national school system (it's good for Malay and Indian kids to learn each other's languages, not least for economic reasons).

But your confrontational attitudes towards the Chinese voters and your tendency to imply malicious and malign intentions on them because of their voting preferences (could your really REALLY not believe that many Chinese voters sincerely believed that PR would give them better governance, instead of voting because they hate Malays) means that this dream will take many, many decades before it even comes close to fruition.

Build bridges, not burn them.vosternoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-293986270107200488.post-53572738596168948582013-05-24T06:32:03.370+08:002013-05-24T06:32:03.370+08:00So they use Malay names, because Malay is the nati...So they use Malay names, because Malay is the national language. And I'm not saying this because I think dominance is good.

I'm saying this because at last, Bumis, Malay or not, can finally berpecah and vote based on policies and ideas, rather than be forced to 'unite' under one party regardless of what policies that party engenders.

Remember, true progress will only be made when IDEAS are allowed to battle, with the best ideas winning. If we continue letting the biggest demographic win, instead of ideas, we will be saddled with the same group in power and the same stale ideas.

When Bumis have 90% of the population, they will no longer be told that they have to put all their eggs in one basket just because the 'other people' might 'defeat' them.vosternoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-293986270107200488.post-62465709558192940742013-05-21T00:04:46.042+08:002013-05-21T00:04:46.042+08:00It's quite hypocritical for DAP chiefs LKS and...It's quite hypocritical for DAP chiefs LKS and son LGE to play the role of PAP wannabes in Malaysia. Look, PAP despite anything else you want to criticize them for, very courageously made the move to abrogate fully Chinese, Tamil and Malay vernacular schools during the 1980's. I remember when I was young that the Chinese institutions took the greatest offence and protested vehemently that the Singapore government was attempting to annihilate Chinese language and culture. Well the happy events that followed saw the advent of several excellent "Chinese-styled" national schools being managed by Chinese educational trustees having a common English mainstream curriculum with valued-added Chinese subjects curriculum. If I'm not mistaken these Singapore schools are just as good if not better than the Malaysian Chinese fully vernacular school in their command of the Chinese language; the one highly significant characteristic of these integrated national curriculum schools is that their students are very effectively bilingual in English and Chinese, and are very multicultural and global in perspective.
Pardon my layman observation but it appears that the Chinese educated in Malaysia have imbibed a very distinctive Hong Kong lingo and cultural attitude . . . which my Chinese friend in Selangor tells me is because the children growing up for the last fifty years in Malaysia have been heavily influenced by immersion in the culture of Hong Kong films and pop-cultur, for want of anything culturally positive from Communist China before the 90's. I work in housing line and the first thing new buyer ask is the other guy who bought next house what race is he/she? even sales housing agent will tell you this area more malay, this more chinese, etc. So, where is integration? I doubt you can get it unless we make drastic change now. Lets just forget about pkr, they lost and know about it. Anwar is about as relevant as yesterdays spoilt milk. I dont care much about dap as they have already showed this is the best they can do, ie they received about 90% chinese vote, so if they get 100% will it make any difference? Malays will unite, but then at what cost to the country? More racial split? More of the 'i am this, you are that' attitude? Government act now abolish vernacular school. how did the chinese unite themselves before, there are many dialects spoken in china? It was also through language, but it was a common written language. So everyone could understand. If anyone feels this is against their right, then like the new home minister suggested, leave.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-293986270107200488.post-77443482141396786372013-05-19T09:29:22.941+08:002013-05-19T09:29:22.941+08:00Dear Annie, sorry a bit out of topic.
