There have been quite a lot of noises coming from the Barisan Nasional component parties regarding the hudud bill tabled by Pas president DS Abdul Hadi Awang in parliament last week,
In fact, I think they made more noises than the opposition DAP, PKR and Amanah.
The presidents of MCA, MIC and Gerakan said they will resign from their ministerial posts if the bill gets through, among others.
But I think it's all just a wayang by everyone.
They all know that the bill will not pass through parliament.
At the end of the day, when it comes to voting in parliament, all the BN MPs, either they be Umno, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, or others, they will vote against the bill.
What is happening now is just for show, okay.
First of all, Hadi needs to show his people that he is doing something to get them the hudud thing after getting rid of the Erdogan last year, and therefore made the party religiously purer.
Whether they actually going to really get it is totally a different thing.
"Hey, at least I had tabled it in parliament what. It got rejected because I didn't have the majority. That's Allah's will okay. Not my fault," Hadi will say later.
The Umno guys who allowed the bill to be tabled in parliament are most likely in the whole thing from the start, because they want to make sure Hadi will keep Pas out of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
"Okay Hadi, we let you put on the show so you look all presidential for your Islamist party. We understand that your Pas people are into that kind of stuff and you need to please them. That's okay. In return, you don't hang around with those PH gang. They are bad anyway. You know that, right?" said the Umno guys.
"Okay, set," said Hadi.
Of course, all the other BN component parties are now jumping up and down.
Well, they have to do something, right?
They need to look brave to go against the bill, especially in front of the non-Muslims.
The Umno guys knew this and would let them be.
They knew those MCA, MIC, Gerakan and others can't actually do much other than making all those noises.
They even understand the need for all the noises.
Later, at the next BN meeting, the Umno guys will tell the others :
"Hey, relax. Enough of the jumping up and down. We Umno guys are going to oppose the bill with you all, okay. All the wayang is just to keep Hadi and gang away from the dastardly DAP, PKR and Amanah fellas.
"You all think we are nuts to support Pas' version of hudud. To support it is like cutting off our own balls. We are not stupid crazy like the Pas people, okay."
And then everything goes back to normal.
The best thing was that the DAP, Amanah and PKR bosses knew these were happening but all they can do is scratch their buttocks.
They can't make too much noise because back then, when they were still Pas' friends, they were okay with the whole nonsense.
"It's only for Muslims what. And if you are not doing anything bad, why you need to worry?", that was their line when it comes to hudud back then before the last general election in 2013.
So, serves them right for what's happening now.
Whatever it is, I'm not worried at all over the whole thing.
As I said, it's just a wayang.
Life goes on the way it has always been.
Really. I wouldn't worry a bit.
You shouldn't too.
And don't be too pissed with Hadi and his Pas people for the monkeying around, okay.
They need to believe that they are doing something about the hudud thing. Otherwise, they are going to feel that they are not going to paradise after they die.
Really. I'm not kidding you.
So, cut them some slack, okay.
As for the Umno and other BN guys, they simply have to play along. It's to their advantage after all. So, why not?
The DAP. Amanah and PKR guys?
They will continue to scratch their buttocks.
That's all they are good at, after all.
It's fated that way.
You all, try not to waste too much time over this stupid wayang, okay.

Hudud no big deal, Umno likely to win by-elections
At a very nice place for the weekend.
Need a proper break from all the hustle and bustle.
Been quite awhile since I have a proper rest.
These past weeks had been quite hectic.
Did not even have proper time to blog properly.
This is only my 13th post this month, the lowest ever since I started this blog more than three years ago.
The lowest number of posts per month that I did previously was 18, which was in January last year.
I will try to be more hardworking after this.
As for today, things are getting quite interesting.
I saw news that Pas president DS Abdul Hadi Awang said DAP wants to be an enemy of Islam by opposing the tabling of a private member's bill on hudud in Dewan Rakyat on Thursday.
He also said Pas is not going to negotiate with Pakatan Harapan over the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections.
I think these were all the fault of Guan Eng and his church gang for playing that Christian card too much last time.
Who asked them to fool around with the Kalimah Allah and Malay Bible issues.
Dumb idiots.
Because of those, it's now quite easy to accuse them of being anti-Islam.
That's the problem when people get too cocky.
Guan Eng and gang really know how to get cocky back then when the now dead Pakatan Rakyat appeared to be unstoppable.
Now things have turned upside down.
Fortunately for opposition supporters, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat is no longer around.
Otherwise, it would be hard for Pas people to explain how Guan Eng turned from being akin to Khalifah Umar Abdul Aziz as described by the late Pas mursyidul am, into an enemy of Islam.
Nonetheless, I'm not going to read too much into this because the way Malaysian politics are, I wouldn't be surprised if Hadi suddenly, not too long from now, turned around and declare Guan Eng a "penyelamat ummah"...just like a particular blogger....
After all, Hadi used to tell Pas people to fight Umno because it's anti-Islam for upholding the country's secular laws instead of implementing hudud.
Remember Amanat Haji Hadi ?
I think he should make another amanat (declaration) about DAP.
Well, never mind.
Doesn't really make much difference. Politicians will always be like that.
So, what if hudud is to be implemented or the existing syariah laws be enhanced?
I'm not overly worried because I'm not planning to commit any serious crime.
As I remember it, the opposition supporters, including those from DAP said exactly that when they were still friends with Pas.
So, I'm now just follow the same lah,
But I'll probably be committing minor crimes...like dating a Chinese.
I may get flogged for it if I get caught, but I guess a lot of other people will also kena. So, not too bad la.
As for the by-elections, it's certain now there will be multi-cornered fights.
Umno versus Pas versus Amanah.
I think Umno will win both Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar.
Reasons:
1. Umno is the incumbent. Incumbents always have the advantage in by-elections.
2. The opposition's votes will be split between Pas and Amanah.
3. The Chinese who overwhelmingly support the opposition are not likely to go all out to vote. Based on past by-elections, the Chinese are not really interested in things which can't change much, such as a by-election.
4. Umno did well by not fielding racists as its candidates.
Well, that should be it.
Okay, I need to go to the beach now.
For your weekend pleasure, here's one of my father's favourite songs when he was a young rocker,
Yes, let's go catch the rainbow :)
Cheers

Umno not to field racists in Sg Besar and Kuala Kangsar
The latest that I heard was that BN, or to be more precise Umno, will not go into the coming by-elections of Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar exclusively to win Malays' votes.
I was relieved when I heard that.
Whom ever is that at the Umno war room who advised DS Najib Razak on the need for the party to remain moderate should be commended.
I was told that Umno will pick its candidates for the by-elections solely based on their credentials and being acceptable among the constituents.
That means they will be chosen because they are deemed to be the best when it comes to serving the people there and not because they are the Umno division chiefs or loudest in spewing racist remarks.
It's a good move by Umno because these by-elections will set the tone for the next general election two years from now.
Despite all those talks about getting back at the Chinese for their tsunami in 2013, Umno has apparently not lost its way by choosing to remain moderate.
For me, it doesn't really matter whether the Umno candidates will eventually win the by-elections or not, but what's more important is that the party has sent a message that it will not be the one to cause the division of this country along racial line.
I know that some people who wanted Umno to turn itself into an ultra Malay racist party were disappointed.
They wanted the most vile of racist characters to be fielded as candidates by Umno in those by-elections.
They argued that it will help the Malays unite and teach the Chinese a lesson.
I'm not really sure of their motives but I know what they wanted is wrong.
Umno will eventually be destroyed if it goes down that path.
Anyway, these people who wanted Umno to be like the Nazi party or the Klu Klax Klan do not understand that Malays are not by nature racists.
Their culture and Islamic faith do not shape them to be such.
They are instead conditioned to be nice people.
Given half a chance, they want to be friends with just about anyone.
They are so nice as a people that others labelled them as docile, lazy, lack competitive spirit, etc.
Whatever not so nice things you see about them were not because of themselves being Malays.
Those were more personal failings than anything else, okay.
As a people, they are nice.
They don't really mind sharing with you their country, language, identity, etc.
That's just the way of the Malays as a people.
That's why Umno cannot be the vulgar racist party that those people wanted.
The Malays will eventually reject the party if it does become such an entity.
Being racist is not nice, and Malays want to be nice.
Sometimes I suspect that those who want Umno to be racist actually want it to be dead.
They pretend to be on Umno's side but actually plotting and subtly goading it to self-destruct.
It's like planting a virus in a computer by disguising it as something good for the machine.

Bank Islam douses rumours about Zukri
A friend forwarded me this memo just now,
Do note that the memo was issued today.
I find it rather strange that Bank Islam needed to reiterate DS Zukri Samat's position as its managing director in such a manner.
I asked my friend why the Bank Islam board of directors needed to issue such a memo to the staff and what the rumours were all about.
This was his exact reply via Wassap,
"This is because someone has been spreading rumours that an ex islamic banker who is currently out of job is coming in to replace zukri. The rumour had caused uneasiness among senior management staff at b islam who like zukri to stay."
Honestly, it sounded to me that the rumours must be quite strong for Bank Islam BoD to issue such a memo.
Well, at least they did something about it.
If I was not mistaken, Bank Islam is doing rather well of late and if that's because of Zukri's effort, then why the need to replace him?
Anyway, never thought rumormongering could have such an impact on all those sophisticated bankers....unless of course if there's some truth to it in the first place lah.

The opposition leader who can reunite them
It is true that BN is now in a mess and suffering a huge trust deficit even among its supporters.
The Umno civil war is still simmering, after all.
Fortunately for PM DS Najib Razak and his people, the opposition camp is in an even worse condition.
Pas versus DAP...
DAP versus PKR...
Pas versus Amanah...
Anwar versus Dr Mahathir...
And the latest PKR versus PKR - this one is the expose by Rafizi that if you deal with the Selangor government, you may be asked to provide money and even women to get things done.
So how?
Most of my friends who talked to me about it said they can't be bothered anymore.
They just want to continue with life and when the general election comes, they will vote according to their conscience.
No more listening to the whining of self-serving politicians.
Wasting time only.
But still, it's amazing to see the opposition being very stupid to fight each other when BN is at its weakest position ever.
It goes to show that similar to many BN politicians, they are also mainly motivated by self-interest, thus they were not willing to sacrifice anything theirs even for the opposition's greater good.
That's how they ended up fighting among themselves.
BN can count on this selfish stupidity within the opposition rank to win the next general election and the next and the next and the next....
The real danger to the ruling coalition now is that if there is someone among the opposition leaders who could knock some sense into them and unite the whole bloody bunch.
Anwar did that for the opposition in the run-up to the 2008 and 2013 general elections.
But the guy is now back in jail and I believe has lost his capability to play the same role again.
For instance, his admirers in Pas are now out of the party after last year's Erdogan purge.
As it so happened, things in the opposition camp unravelled right after Anwar went back to Sungai Buloh for buggering a young man.
Well, what to do....men, when they are horny, they become stupid.
Nowadays they talked about Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the new opposition leader.
Okay, compared to the real opposition leader DS Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Dr Mahathir is better.
Heck, I think even myself is better if given the role.
Ever heard Kak Wan spoke at a rally...try not to, okay.
But Dr Mahathir is not really for the opposition and everyone knows that.
He just wants Najib out. That's all.
He is not going to be the new opposition messiah.
The opposition leaders layan him just because they wanted Dr Mahathir to continue wrecking havoc within the BN's camp.
I'm quite sure they are not going to make him their leader.
It's too weird for them to do that.
Anyway, the handsome old man is way past 90 years old.
He wouldn't have the energy even if he wants to do it.
It's one thing to write a blog and go around on a roadshow against Najib, but another thing altogether to lead the quarrelsome opposition parties and manage the bullshit which comes with it.
So, anyone among the opposition leaders has the prospect of turning into their super hero?
Actually, there is.
DS Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The Selangor MB and PKR deputy president.
And it so happens that he is the most handsome of them all....okay, second after KJ.
Really, Azmin is the only one among the opposition leaders who could get the opposition back together.
I became convinced of it after reading this story,
excerpts:
Need to go to Tesco now to stock up the fridge.
Cheers.

Azmin wants to meet Hadi on by-election candidates
excerpts:
The Selangor Menteri Besar said he had already met with Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Pas election director Datuk Mustafa Ali to discuss on the issue.
“I have also met with Amanah leaders and Penang chief minister (Lim Guan Eng). Talks are progressing positively and I hope the choice on the candidates will be finalised soon,” he told reporters after launching the SmartSelangor Food Stamp programme here, yesterday.
See, Azmin can talk to everybody in the opposition.
He is okay with Pas, okay with DAP and okay with Amanah.
He is the only one who can do it.
That's how he became Selangor MB in the first place.
He played it very well by being the good guy who quietly sat in the middle of a fight between Pas and supporters of former MB Khalid on one side and DAP and supporters of Dr Wan Azizah on the other.
In the end, everyone agreed to give the job to him.
Oh, Azmin is also okay with Dr Mahathir.
He is after all the handsome old man's anak angkat since when he was studying in the US.
His former classmate at Minnesota University in the 80s told me of how Azmin took the trouble to travel all the way to New York and Washington to meet Dr Mahathir whenever the then PM visited the country.
More on that at later postings, okay.
Now with Azmin being the Selangor MB and regarded with much more respect than ever before, he has the potential to replace the now jaded and fast becoming irrelevant Anwar.
The guy is relatively young at 52, smart, have the least baggage compared to other opposition leaders and I repeat, quite handsome.
Hey, he's more handsome than Guan Eng, okay. Admit it, you all.
Well, BN needs to prepare itself for the opposition under Azmin's leadership.
I'm quite sure it is coming to bite them hard in the next general election.
BN's best weapon to counter this new Azmin threat is actually KJ, the only politician more handsome than Azmin in the country.
But let me write about that another day, okay.
Need to go to Tesco now to stock up the fridge.
Cheers.

Thoughts on Wesak Day
First of all, I'm wishing all good Buddhists a happy and peaceful Wesak day.
I have quite a number of Buddhist friends.
Except for a Sinhalese girl, the rest of them are Chinese.
They are all good people, the same as my other friends of other faiths.
Well, I chose them to be my friends because they are good people, not because they are of that or this religion.
Called one of them just now.
She's one of my closest friends from my former work place.
The girl is a very devout Buddhist.
She was on a bus to work.
It's Saturday and Wesak day some more, and there she was, on her way to work.
She said the office don't have enough people, so that she has to work today.
Things must be not so good at my former work place now that they have to make my friend work on a day like this.
Nonetheless, my friend doesn't seems to mind.
"Some of the Muslims also have to work on Hari Raya what," she cheerfully said.
My friend is always mostly cheerful and positive about life.
I admire her for it.
"So, you are not going to temple today?" I asked.
"No, tak sempat la. Two people only working today," she said.
Oh, in case you think my friend is a DAPster because she is Chinese, let me assure you that she is not.
You know lah, these days there are people who try to make especially Malays believe that all Chinese are evil DAPsters.
I know for certain that not only my friend voted for BN in the last general election, but she also helped to campaign for it.
And nope, she is not a member of MCA or Gerakan either.
That's her personal choice, okay.
Anyway, need to get up and get ready for the day now.
Got a date this afternoon.
Lunch, movie, and maybe a massage at a spa.
Just want to relax and enjoy the day.
Don't want to be grumpy grumpy,
As it makes you fat and ugly.
Haha...
Cheers and have a good weekend guys.

Please help these sisters with autism
The following is a story which someone showed me three days ago.
I had meant to highlight it that day but can't do so till now because I was not feeling well these past few days.
It's from The Star's other newspapers column,
I hope more people will help the family.
Maybe all those NGOs which were meant to help those with autism and the needy will also help them.
I had been to Kaki Bukit where the family live.
It's a rustic little Chinese settlement near Padang Besar at the Thai border.
You will have to pass through the place if you are going to the Wang Kelian border checkpoint.
It would be nice if Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin can ask members of the movement in Padang Besar to visit the family and lend their help, especially in getting the girls with autism some kind of therapy.
I think KJ will understand why I'm asking him to help the family.
Hopefully he will see this posting and does so.
I had meant to highlight it that day but can't do so till now because I was not feeling well these past few days.
It's from The Star's other newspapers column,
A COUPLE from Kaki Bukit, Perlis, is desperately looking for help to care for two adult daughters who are autistic, reported Kwong Wah Yit Poh.
Lew Choon Lin, 58, and his wife Chong Gaik Hwa, 55, are worried about their daughters’ future once they are no longer around.
Their daughters Mei Sing, 26, and Mei Fong, 23, do not know how to express themselves or communicate with other people.
The family is depending on their eldest son who gives them between RM200 and RM300 every month, as well as help from the Welfare Department.
Lew said he could no longer work after an accident years ago, and now helps his wife look after their daughters at home.
He hopes the public can help them and teach his daughters to be independent.
Those wishing to help can contact Kaki Bukit Village Security Development Committee chairman Loh Kong Yap at 012-476 2391.

An advice for pro-establishment newsmen
Someone sent me this screen-shot of a Facebook posting by Mustapha Kamil Mohd Janor last night,
That's harsh, Mus.
Can't imagine the difficulty of those reporters trying to swallow a paper ball.
I'm glad that Mus didn't tell the editors to eat the unsold newspapers too.
Some of them may choke and die, okay.
Whatever it is, I think I know what Mus was really trying to say.
Of course he didn't really mean it for the newsmen to eat paper balls.
He was actually advising those pro-establishment media people to be more creative in being pro-establishment.
Well, I think he got a point there.
Why write something supposedly pro-establishment but no one cares to read it...or even worse, just irritate or piss off people even more.
Basically, don't write syok sendiri stuff la...or write just for trying to please the boss.
I think the same applies to blogging.
Unless of course if you are blogging just for fun like me.
If you were paid to write for the establishment, then better make sure your writings really help the establishment.
Don't just do kiss ass job, okay.
Anyway, Mus is the New Straits Times group editor since last year.
However, I heard he had tendered his resignation and will leave the newspaper by end of this month.
Lucky NST reporters, no need to eat paper balls :)
If it's true, Mus is the first one to voluntarily resign from that post, as far as I know.
Group editor of NST is a very important post.
It's like being the captain of a flagship in a naval fleet,
But of course he still needs to take orders from the Admiral who is of even higher rank.
Tough job, I guess.
Especially for smart people like Mus.
He may wants the newspaper to go right, but the Admiral insists on going left...straight into the longkang.
Yup, that's difficult Mus.

Umno shouldn't be a despicable racist party
In the runs up to the last general election in 2013, everyone who are pro-establishment, or to be more precise pro-BN, supports DS Najib Razak's 1Malaysia.
They did so even if they personally don't really believe in it.
Many, especially among the Malays were secretly unhappy that Najib and his team were trying very hard to win over the Chinese.
Nonetheless, they went along with it in the hope that the Chinese who were being aggressively wooed by DAP will not abandon BN.
Despite their effort, the Chinese went all out against BN.
It was a Chinese tsunami and because of it, GE13 turned out to be arguably the worst BN's performance in a general election.
The immediate reactions were anger and frustration towards the Chinese.
I was also caught up in it.
Apa lagi Cina mahu?
That was the famous question, popularised by the headline of an article by Utusan editor Zul Bakar in the aftermath of the Chinese tsunami.
At that time, I also agreed with the notion that the Chinese will never support BN again.
Many forgot that back then when everyone was supporting Najib's 1Malaysia, it was to prevent a more racially polarised Malaysia.
After GE13, the right wing gains ground in Umno and their supporters wanted BN to abandon any further effort to win support of the Chinese and instead focused on just the majority Malays and bumiputera.
Under the doctrine, BN should consists Umno, the bumiputera parties of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as the Indian-based parties. The Chinese-based component parties such as MCA and Gerakan are garbage and should be cast out.
According to proponents of this doctrine, it all boils down to getting the majority non-Chinese siding with BN to crush the recalcitrant Chinese on the other side.
They want BN to abandon its original ideal of being a moderate multi-racial coalition for all Malaysians.
They even encourage Umno to team-up with Pas and turned itself into a conservative Malay-Islamist party.
You can read more on how this doctrine works in a blog which operator became famous for peddling hate, first towards Muslims, Malays and Umno but nowadays towards Christians, Chinese, DAP, MCA, Gerakan and other Chinese-based entities.
Cari sendiri lah ya, just follow the smell of hatred and I'm sure you all can find the blog.
Sometimes I suspect that such people as the blogger, who is a (former ???) DAP operative purposely try to incite Umno to be a despicable racist party so that it will lose all credibility and relevancy as a party which represents good rationale Malays.
I try not to be buruk sangka, but that suspicion does comes to mind from time to time.
I believe that even the Malays will reject it if Umno turned itself from a party which struggles for the betterment of Malays in particular and Malaysians in general into a hateful racist entity.
Anyway, do you think the Malays in general want to throw the Chinese into the sea?
I don't think so.
They may talk tough sometimes, but in actual fact they prefer to be friendly with people of other races.
Malays are too docile as a people to hate the Chinese the way people such as that hate-spewing blogger want them to be.
It's in their nature to be nice like that.
As for the Chinese, I think they are getting a bit tired of DAP now.
Maybe not by much, but if BN behaves, it may get some crucial support from them such as in the recent Sarawak election.
I actually first noticed the small yet significant change of mood among them during the two by-elections contested by BN's Chinese-based parties after GE13 - Kajang by MCA and Telok Intan by Gerakan.
The hardworking MCA's DS Chew Mei Fun managed to significantly reduce PKR's majority in Kajang despite facing PKR president DS Dr Wan Azizah Ismail, while Gerakan president DS Mah Siew Keong managed to overturn a DAP's over 7,000 majority in Teluk Intan.
I was on the ground at both by-elections from start to finish.
I saw things such as a group of MCA supporters trying very hard to outshout their PKR and DAP rivals at the entrance of a polling centre in Kajang.
I also saw the outnumbered and outgunned Gerakan members in Teluk Intan giving their all to deliver a BN victory no one really believed they could win.
I saw a cute young Chinese couple along with others wearing the blue of BN distributing the party's pamphlets in the middle of Teluk Intan town.
I remember my traveling companion at that time, a young Chinese guy, happily walking around the town carrying a BN umbrella underneath the scorching sun on polling day.
What I saw and experienced during those by-elections convinced me that I shouldn't be angry with the Chinese anymore because of what happened during GE13.
They made me not want to give up on the Chinese and the ideal that we Malaysians of all races should work together rather than split ourselves apart along racial lines as propagated by some hate mongering people.
Maybe I'll write more on that later.
For now, I just want to enjoy my weekend.
Here's a song for you all,
Do enjoy your weekend too.
Peace

We are Malaysians from the state of Johor, no more, no less
There had been quite a number of stories in cyberspace lately about some Johoreans wanting to be different.
They feel that they are better then their fellow Malaysians just because they are Johoreans.
Some went as far as saying that it's better for Johor to get out of Malaysia as it can survives on its own.
Well, I'm a Johorean and proud of my home state, but loyalty to my country Malaysia is more important.
Basically, I love my home state the same way others love their hometown or kampung, or something like that.
It's not excessive to the point of being stupid.
These days I find some Johoreans' love for their state has reached a worrying level.
Just look at the comments in relation to the claim by Tunku Mahkota Johor about police tapping his handphone,
I don't think even TMJ wants Johoreans to comment about it the way some of them did.
It's embarrassing.
Want to get out from Malaysia and be like Brunei?
Don't be silly, okay.
We, Johoreans are known to be progressive people, so let us be more matured and realistic about things around us.
Anyway, I don't subscribe to the so-called Bangsa Johor thing nor do I support the JDT football team.
I don't really watch football that much nowadays.
Actually, I don't even believe in the Bangsa Malaysia concept.
What's more if it's Bangsa Johor.
See, that's the reality of things.
For me, all these concepts were cooked up by politicians and people with vested interest, and we like stupid sheep agreed and followed what they told us to believe.
That should't be the case.
We are intelligent people.
We live in a free democratic country and we have the right to think for ourselves.
That's enshrined in the constitution, okay.
We are all Malaysians of pelbagai bangsa, budaya, agama and adat resam.
We are different but united in this single country we call tanah tumpahnya darah ku.
That's what I believe Malaysians, including myself to be.
Let us stay that way.

No need to get all riled up
Been occupied with a family gathering the past week.
Was helping my mother with especially the relatives who came over from Singapore.
Needed to ferry them around for the occasion.
It was quite a gathering.
A happy occasion, actually.
It was nice to have almost everyone here.
The best thing at the gathering this time was that no one talked about bad things too much.
The most was about a cousin who had some money problem.
We tried to help him but it was a bit difficult.
But we are not going to give up and will try whatever we can.
That's what being in a family is all about.
No one seems to be interested to talk about politics too this time.
The big makan was on the night of the Sarawak election but nobody seems to be bothered by it.
It was a far cry from our family gatherings before the last general election in 2013.
At that time politics was the favourite topic of conversation.
Almost everyone were DAP supporters, including my uncles and aunts whom I knew were MCA members.
Everyone seemed to have something to say about "Ubah" and such things at that time.
Guess, everyone is tired of all that now.
As I previously wrote, maybe people just want to wait until the next election instead of jumping up and down like before.
Why want to waste energy?
Just vote whomever we want when the time come.
Better isn't it?
After all, life still seems the same after all the political euphoria of those days.
Not much has changed.
Okay, the prices of goods seemed to be a bit high nowadays but I don't see anyone having to change his/her lifestyle.
Well, at least not in my family.
My mother still drinks at Starbucks from time to time.
I only drink there if she belanja me some fancy coffee.
As for the cousin who has money problem, that was because he was careless with his money and not because of anything else. That's normal lah.
Well, life goes on.
Better work hard and enjoy the good things which come with it rather than getting all riled up for nothing.
Why want to get all worked up all the time?
Everyday want to get angry for what?
Can get fat and ugly, that way, okay.
Better relax and enjoy life as given by Allah.
Be cool.
Like today, the best thing that I did was harvesting some ciku fruits from the tree in the house compound.
Nowadays, I enjoy doing simple things like that more than anything else...including blogging, I think.
This is the biggest one that I got,
Nice isn't it?

BN can win back the Chinese like in Sarawak
I'm not in Sarawak, so my take on the just concluded state election there is going to be quite simple.
I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, okay.
This is the result last night:
BN - 72
DAP - 7
PKR - 3
You can compare it with the result of the state election in 2011:
BN - 55
DAP - 12
PKR - 3
Ind - 1
As expected, BN won with a landslide. This is after all Sarawak.
Nonetheless, it's quite clear that there had been a swing to a certain extent as far as the Chinese votes were concerned.
DAP suffered quite a lot while BN's Chinese-based party, namely SUPP did rather well.
That's for me is the biggest significance of the Sarawak election.
It gives BN the signal that there's real hope of winning back the Chinese votes in other parts of the country too.
Some may argue that Sarawak is different from the other states, but do remember that back then, the pattern of Chinese votes in the Sarawak election in 2011 was the same as the Chinese tsunami of the general election in 2013.
For me, Sarawak BN, led by TS Adenan Satem did the right things to win back a significant amount of the Chinese votes as seen last night.
It presented a good state government, was firm against corruption and even more importantly showing genuine sincerity towards the Chinese.
I believe that the best example of that genuine sincerity was the recognition given by the Sarawak government to the Chinese education system, particularly the Unified Examination Certificate.
Equally important was that Adenan and his people didn't try to punish the Chinese for overwhelmingly siding with the opposition in 2011.
They didn't play the bumiputera card against the Chinese.
That's what likely turned a lot of Chinese around, back to supporting BN in the Sarawak election.
Hopefully the BN leadership in KL will learn the right lessons from it.
Umno in particular, should not forsake its old friends especially the Chinese-based MCA and Gerakan because of the Chinese tsunami of 2013.
It should not submit to the insidious goading of those whose motives were suspect by turning itself into an ultra-Malay-Islamic party or joining forces with such as that.
BN needs to stay the way it has always been - a moderate multi-racial coalition representing all Malaysians.
It's the only way it can remains relevant.
There's still hope for it as could be seen in Sarawak last night.
And of course Umno and its BN friends need to clean up their act.
True, they are in a mess now, but so do the opposition parties.
There's still slightly over two years from the next general election.
If they work hard, be clean and sincere, I believe they can be like Adenan and his people last night.
As proven in Sarawak, the Chinese like hardworking, clean and sincere people and they aspire to be such too.
BN should strive to be like that and win them back.
Of course there are a few Chinese who prefer to be insincere hate mongers and not very clean, but I believe most of the others are not so.
I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, okay.

Surviving toxic environment
Talked with a friend who is a former colleague at my old work place last night.
He said quite a number of people had left the company ever since I did so some time ago.
"More are leaving or trying to leave, especially the good ones," he said.
"Soon we will be left with just the juniors," he added.
I guess things are not going so well at my former work place.
Otherwise, people wouldn't want to leave like that.
Some of the names mentioned by my friend as among those trying to leave the company are very good and loyal workers.
They were searching for better jobs elsewhere despite the fact that their bosses like their work and most likely will promote them in the organisation soon.
"It's not just about getting a promotion or being liked by the bosses," said my friend.
"It's the whole environment of the place. Many are simply not happy working in our office anymore," he said.
Well, I guess my friend was right. I used to enjoy working at that place and was extremely loyal to the company, but things changed towards the end of my stint there.
The office politics turned very ugly and I felt many people there spent more time back stabbing their own friends and colleagues or trying to avoid being back stabbed rather than doing their work.
And the bullying was simply terrible.
I remember the whole environment in the office becoming very toxic.
At that time I was not so sure who were my friends and who were my enemies in the office.
It was a bit like one of those bad Korean dramas about palace intrigues and stuff.
Well, in that sense, I'm not very good with politics.
After I left, I thought things had improved there as the bunch of people who manoeuvred their way up by backstabbing and kissing up had consolidated their position.
Apparently not so, based on what is happening there now.
Guess, the backstabbing and kissing up culture continues to flourish.
That's probably why most of the good people there are wishing they have a better place to go.
I know that their bosses don't care much about losing them though.
"We can go shopping for people," one of them once told me back then.
Maybe the guy was right but I always feel that's not going to do the organisation much good.
Replacing loyal hardworking employees with mercenaries is not good, okay.
The organisation will gradually rot as everyone will be there just for themselves and their interests.
I believe that after a while the organisation will lose whatever left of its credibility and in the end not even the mercenaries will want to work for it.
They wouldn't want to dirty up their CV with the name of the organisation on it.
Hopefully, things will not get as bad as that.
It's something like Umno.
For me it's a good organisation, but managed by some not very good people.
Not all, but the few self-serving opportunists are making the party looks bad.
Very unfortunate.
Hopefully PM Najib Razak, who is the Umno president will realise this and do the necessary.
Same with who ever it is in charge of my former work place.
Hopefully something will be done to stop the rot before it's too late.
I know, it's none of my business anymore, but still, it's just very sad to see the organisation in that situation.
Whatever it is, I'm wishing the good people still there all the best.
Do your best and stay safe, guys.
Peace.
Peace.

Better not be a kepochi all the time
Nothing really spectacular happening over the past few days.
That's why I have not been writing.
Furthermore, I have mostly been sleeping and just doing my work from home.
A bit tired of the outside world.
Anyway, received a message this morning that someone was suing someone over something.
Interesting...but I can't write about that.
I like both guys involved in the case.
If I write about it I would be forced to choose side.
You know lah these days, they all said "either you are with us or against us".
Tiresome people.
So immature.
Well, better let those guys settle their troubles among themselves.
Who am I to kepoh, anyway.
Wish they could just sit down and talk nicely to settle their differences, but nowadays people are not interested in settling problems peacefully.
They prefer whacking each other.
It's the ego thing, I guess.
Anyway, even if I write about it, I don't think things would get any better.
So, I rather not waste my energy on it.
May as well concentrate on more pleasant things such as my coming mid-year holiday.
I'm planning to go somewhere cool, stay there a few days and be refreshed.
Just the thought of it already made me a bit happy.
So much better than trying to figure out all those spiteful talks and hate mongering.
I don't know how some people can cari makan just by doing that.
Those people are really amazing.
Okay, that's all I can write for today.
Will try to write something more substantive next time.
For now, here's a song,
